Mon Sep 29 201410:59Lofton made 11 tackles (nine solo) in Sunday's loss to Cowboys
Lofton made 11 tackles (nine solo) in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys.
On a night where the Saints' defense was embarrassed, Lofton stood out for IDP purposes as the Cowboys leaned heavily on the run after taking a big lead. Lofton is a better play against run-oriented attacks, as he struggles at times in coverage, but he remains one of the most consistent fantasy options given his high rate of tackles.

Lofton (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, the Saints' official site reports.
Lofton's been dealing with the shoulder injury since Week 1, but he has yet to miss a game. He has 24 tackles (17 solo) through three weeks, and should have plenty of opportunities in Sunday's game, as the Cowboys have been piling up carries.

Lofton (shoulder) is probable for Sunday's game against Dallas.
Lofton is ready to go for Sunday, and he heads into the game with 24 tackles in three games. He has a decent chance of piling up more stops against a Dallas team that has been surprisingly run-heavy so far.
Wed Sep 24 201419:06Lofton (shoulder) limited practice participant Wednesday
Lofton (shoulder) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, the Saints' official site reports.
Lofton has totaled 24 tackles in three outings this season, which is on par with his career mark of 7.7 tackles per contest. Through six-plus NFL campaigns, he has yet to miss a game, meaning limited run Wednesday isn't much of a worry. Alas, IDP owners should keep an eye on his status as the week carries on.

Lofton made eight tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's win against the Vikings.
Lofton spent an atypical amount of time in the Vikings' backfield, contributing two tackles for losses, as well as a quarterback hit. If Lofton plays downhill more frequently, he could have added value, though historically he has spent little time blitzing (only seven sacks in 99 career games). Still, with 24 tackles through three games, the uber-consistent Lofton remains on target to surpass the 100-tackle mark for the sixth season in a row.

Lofton (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game against the Vikings, Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
As expected, Lofton will slot back into his usual role as the Saints' strong-side inside linebacker. He took part in all three of the Saints' practices this week, putting him on tap for every-down duty.

Lofton (shoulder) didn't take part in Wednesday's practice, the Saints' official site reports.
After tallying 16 tackles (10 solo) through two games, Lofton is well on his way to 100-plus tackles for a sixth year in a row. However, a shoulder injury is hindering his availability heading into Sunday's contest against the Vikings.

Lofton (shoulder) made six tackles (three solo) in Sunday's loss to the Browns.
Lofton posted 10 tackles in the Saints' season-opening loss to the Falcons, so Sunday's performance was disappointing, particularly against a run-oriented team, against which Lofton typically thrives. Still, Lofton should continue to be a dependable source of tackles in the middle of the Saints' defense, even if he's unlikely to record many interceptions or sacks.

Lofton (shoulder) is active for Sunday's Week 2 showdown with the Browns, ESPN.com's Mike Triplett reports.
Lofton was never really in jeopardy for missing action after practicing in full Thursday and Friday. He should be a favorable IDP option Sunday while matching up against a Browns offense that figures to be a primarily ground-based attack.
Fri Sep 12 201418:21Lofton (shoulder) probable for Sunday's game against Cleveland
Lofton (shoulder) is probable for Sunday's game against Cleveland.
Lofton's health isn't an issue heading into Sunday, and he could be a very nice IDP option against Cleveland's run-heavy offense.
Thu Sep 11 201418:48Lofton (shoulder) practiced fully Thursday
Lofton (shoulder) practiced fully Thursday, ESPN.com reports.
Perhaps Lofton's limited practice Wednesday was a precautionary measure, but the linebacker appears set to man one of the inside linebacker spots Sunday in Cleveland, after a team-high 10 tackles (seven solo) in Week 1.
Wed Sep 10 201420:30Lofton (shoulder) limited in Wednesday's practice
Lofton (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice, the Saints' official site reports.
Sunday's barn burner against the Saints provided ample opportunity to pick up tackles, and Lofton emerged with a team-high 10 (seven solo) and one quarterback hit. The performance was marred by a shoulder injury at the midpoint, but he gutted it out and will likely do so again in Week 2. In his six years in the league, he has yet to miss a game.

Fri Jan 24 201415:19Curtis Lofton is Saints ironman on defense
Saints ILB Curtis Lofton led the team in 2013 defensive snaps played, seeing 95.8 percent of the action for DC Rob Ryan.
Saints RE Cameron Jordan was next in snaps at 92.1 percent. Lofton calls New Orleans' plays on defense and has audible power over what Ryan sends in. Still only 27 years old -- he turns 28 in June -- Lofton is signed for a reasonable $3.3 million in 2014. He's never missed a game due to injury in his career, and finished 2013 with 125 tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble.

Fri May 31 201315:52LB Lofton to be used all over the field
Saints ILB Curtis Lofton is learning multiple positions in the team's new 3-4 defense.
Lofton will primarily be an inside linebacker in Rob Ryan's 3-4 scheme, but says he's being cross-trained at outside linebacker as well. "you never know where we are going to be at. It gives us a lot of fluid to switch in and out," said Lofton regarding the new defense. Despite his ability to move outside, expect Lofton to spend the majority of his time in the middle where he's best suited to play.

Fri Feb 15 201317:06Curtis Lofton restructures his contract
Saints ILB Curtis Lofton agreed to convert a $5 million roster bonus into a signing bonus, lowering his 2013 salary cap number.
The move cost Lofton no money, but will affect the Saints' future salary cap. It did clear $4 million for 2013. Lofton, who turns 27 in June, finished his first season as a Saint with 123 tackles, two forced fumbles, and seven pass breakups. He'll be a 3-4 inside linebacker in new DC Rob Ryan's scheme.

"We certainly think Curtis will be ready for the first game," interim coach Joe Vitt assured. We'll see. High ankle sprains can cost players 4-8 weeks, and the Saints' September 9 regular season opener against the Redskins is 20 days away. Ramon Humber will stand in as New Orleans' starting middle linebacker. Humber is suspended for the first three games of the year.
