Smith had three carries for 10 yards and caught two passes for negative one yard in Sunday's blowout loss at Baltimore.
For what seems like the first time in months, Smith failed to make an explosive play. It was a tough matchup for the entire Falcons' offense, however, as they struggled to move the ball, scoring just seven points. Also, Steven Jackson, Devonta Freeman and Jacquizz Rodgers all were quiet, so it's not like Smith was outshined. It will be interesting to see how the distribution of carries will shake out the next time Atlanta has a close game.

Smith had just two carries for five yards in Sunday's loss to Chicago, but he caught four passes for 64 yards and scored a touchdown in the air.
Smith took a short pass from Matt Ryan in the third quarter, and ended up racing 41 yards for a touchdown. He continues to amaze with limited touches - he's scored seven touchdowns in his career, with all of them coming from 35 yards or longer. Atlanta might be wise to give Smith a little more work in the running game, as Steven Jackson is running hard, but not making many big plays.

Smith had one carry for two yards and three catches on three targets for 83 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Giants.
Smith continues to produce with limited touches, as his touchdown Sunday marked his fourth score of the season, and they're all coming on big plays, averaging 52.5 yards each, according to ESPN.com. With Steven Jackson, Devonta Freeman and Jacquizz Rodgers failing to get much going on their own, it's dumbfounding that Smith has only gotten four touches in each of the last three games. If the Falcons can get him the ball more often, he could make a major fantasy difference.

Smith (hamstring) had four carries for 62 yards, including a 48-yard touchdown, in Sunday's loss at Minnesota. He was not targeted in the passing game.
Smith makes a big play almost every week, but doesn't get the ball enough to warrant major consideration in shallow fantasy formats. He did receive more rushes than either Devonta Freeman or Jacquizz Rodgers, although both players caught multiple passes.
Sun Sep 28 201415:19Smith (hamstring) active for Sunday's contest in Minnesota
Smith (hamstring) is active for Sunday's contest in Minnesota, the Falcons' official site reports.
Smith is a home-run threat, with two lengthy touchdowns to his name this season. However, his touches are limited in backfield that already contains Steven Jackson, Jacquizz Rodgers, and Devonta Freeman.
Fri Sep 26 201416:05Smith (hamstring) probable for Sunday's game against Minnesota
Smith (hamstring) is probable for Sunday's game against Minnesota.
Smith seemingly makes a huge touchdown play whenever the Falcons give him the ball, but his fantasy utility remains blurry in a crowded backfield that already features Steven Jackson, Jacquizz Rodgers and Devonta Freeman.
Wed Sep 24 201416:50Smith (hamstring) practiced fully Wednesday
Smith (hamstring) practiced fully Wednesday, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
The reason for Smith's absence from Monday's practice is now clear, but the seeming minor nature of the ailment shouldn't affect his availability for Sunday's contest in Minnesota. With two highlight-worthy touchdowns through three games, he could be in line for more touches as the season continues.

Smith (undisclosed injury) did not suit up for practice on Monday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
We'll track Smith's status as the week rolls along, but coach Mike Smith relayed that there probably won't be an update on the running back's status until Wednesday' injury report is released by the Falcons.

Smith had four carries for 50 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 56-14 win over the Buccaneers.
Smith had a nice 38-yard touchdown run, though good blocking and poor defense certainly played a role. Steven Jackson is still operating as the lead back, with Smith, Jacquizz Rodgers and Devonta Freeman splitting the remaining touches, many of which come through the air. Rodgers is above Smith and Freeman in the pecking order, but Smith has made a case for a few extra snaps, scoring two long touchdowns on just nine touches through three games.

Through the Falcons' first two games, Smith has recorded two carries for seven yards and caught three passes for 73 yards and a TD.
Smith, who caught two passes for 19 yards in Week 2, is thus a break or two away from fantasy relevance, with Steven Jackson, Jacquizz Rodgers, and Devonta Freeman also operating out of the Falcons' backfield.

Smith totaled 61 yards on the day, including a 54-yard touchdown reception that gave the Falcons the lead in the third quarter against the Saints on Sunday.
Despite the encouraging statline, Smith was the least effective runner behind Steven Jackson, Jacquizz Rodgers and Devonta Freeman, and he only received two carries. He has able to take a swing pass 54 yards for a touchdown, but that was the only time he was involved in the passing game. It was an encouraging game for Smith, but there's too many balls to go around at this point for him to be a viable option in most leagues.

Though he didn't gain any yards on his four carries, Smith had two receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's preseason finale against the Jaguars.
Smith took a screen pass 66 yards to the house, breaking a pair of tackles along the way. The Falcons' backup running back situation is rather crowded, as all of Smith, Jacquizz Rodgers and Devonta Freeman got playing time with the first-team offense this preseason. While all of the hype has surrounded Freeman, it was Rodgers who started every preseason game. Should Steven Jackson (hamstring) suffer a setback before Week 1, or suffer another injury down the road, the Falcons might have roles for all three of Rodgers, Smith and Freeman. Realistically, Smith is only worth a look in deeper leagues, as Rodgers is the safest handcuff, while Freeman arguably has the most upside of the trio.

Smith gained four yards on four carries in Saturday's preseason game against the Titans
Smith and Devonta Freeman both got some playing time with the first-team offense, but Jacquizz Rodgers started and dominated the first-half touches. While the competition has mostly centered around Rodgers and Freeman, Smith could have some kind of role in the offense if Steven Jackson (hamstring) doesn't make it back for Week 1.

With Steven Jackson (hamstring) sidelined, Smith spelled Jacquizz Rodgers with the first-team offense in Friday's preseason opener against the Dolphins.
Smith did little with the opportunity, gaining five yards on three carries and another five on one reception. Smith is competing for the third spot on the depth chart against Devonta Freeman, who himself may be a threat to Jacquizz Rodgers in the No. 2 role.
Sat Dec 21 201313:43Antone Smith (knee) listed questionable
Falcons RB Antone Smith (knee) is listed as questionable for Week 16.
Smith returned to practice this week after sitting out last Sunday's win over the Redskins. He'll see limited carries as the Falcons' No. 4 running back and contribute on special teams if active for Monday night's game against the 49ers.

Fri Nov 22 201300:41Antone Smith rushes once versus Saints
Antone Smith rushed once for 11 yards in Atlanta's Week 12 loss to the Saints.
So much for it being "imperative" to get Smith more involved in the offense. Fighting with Jason Snelling for scraps behind Steven Jackson and Jacquizz Rodgers, Smith got out-touched by Snelling 2-1. There's no fantasy value here.

Mon Nov 18 201314:45Antone Smith could get more touches?
Falcons coach Mike Smith said Monday he believes it's "imperative" to get RB Antone Smith more involved on offense.
Smith gained 92 total yards and scored a touchdown on three garbage-time touches in Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay. Behind Steven Jackson, Jacquizz Rodgers, and Jason Snelling on the depth chart, it's difficult to say where Smith could make his mark. Perhaps it would come at the expense of S-Jax, who has struggled mightily during his full-on flop of a season with Atlanta.

Sun Nov 17 201317:04Antone Smith goes for 92 yards, touchdown
Falcons RB Antone Smith rushed twice for 88 yards and a touchdown and caught a four-yard pass in Atlanta's Week 11 loss to Tampa Bay.
Surprisingly taking change-of-pace carries away from Jacquizz Rodgers late in the game, Smith turned his lone two carries into garbage-time gains of 50 and 38, the former going for a score. While Smith doesn't suddenly have fantasy value, it isn't crazy to think he's earned more touches moving forward.
