Sat Sep 2 2023 | 13:17 | Zack Kelly Looks Sharp In Rehab Appearance On Friday |
Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Zack Kelly (elbow) worked a scoreless inning of relief on Friday during his minor league rehab appearance with Single-A Greenville. The 28-year-old reliever injured his elbow back in mid-April and looked to be done for the season at the time. He's slowly worked his way back and now has a chance to log some big-league appearances before the 2023 campaign is over. Kelly posted a 3.68 ERA, 1.64 WHIP, and 6:6 K/BB ratio over just 7 1/3 innings (six appearances) before sustaining the injury back in April. He'll likely need a few more rehab appearances throughout the minors before he's ready to join the Red Sox. |

Sun Apr 16 2023 | 17:32 | Zack Kelly Moved To 60-Day Injured List |
Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Zack Kelly (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list on Sunday. The 28-year-old had been on the 15-day IL after exiting Wednesday's meeting with the Tampa Bay Rays because of right elbow inflammation. But he'll now need to see a specialist, which is never an encouraging sign. Kelly had a 3.68 ERA and six strikeouts in six games before succumbing to the injury. However, his current ailment appears worse than initially anticipated, so he'll spend more time on the shelf. |
