Sat Aug 3109:38Emmanuel Clase Notches 40th Save On Friday
Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase picked up his AL-leading 40th save of the season in Friday's 10-8 victory over the Pirates, although he allowed one run in the process when he gave up a solo shot to Andrew McCutchen to lead off the ninth. The 26-year-old settled in and recorded three straight outs after that, including one strikeout. Clase is just one save behind Ryan Helsley (41) of the Cardinals for the MLB lead, but with the save became the Guardians' all-time save leader, surpassing Cody Allen for the top spot with 150. Also, despite allowing a run, the Dominican righty still owns a sterling 0.71 ERA on the season, along with a 0.68 WHIP and an 8:55 BB:K, ranking as the top closer in fantasy.

Wed Aug 1408:28Emmanuel Clase Collects 37th Save
Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase continued doing what he does, picking up his 37th save of the season versus the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday. Clase allowed a hit and stolen base in an otherwise perfect frame, one in which he didn't record a strikeout. Clase continues to be one of the top closers in the game and has now picked up four saves in the past four days. It is very likely that manager Stephen Vogt will give Clase a day or two off to recover with Hunter Gaddis and Cade Smith as the likely candidates to pitch in the ninth in any potential save opportunity. For the season, Clase has a miniscule 0.64 ERA in 56 1/3 innings for the division leading Guardians.

This marks Clase's third straight night where he recorded a save after going five days without appearing for Cleveland. Clase has had a remarkable season in every sense of the word. He is (4-2) with an ERA of 0.65, a WHIP of 0.65, and a K/9 of 8.00 across 55 1/3 innings. Wed May 2200:08Emmanuel Clase Earns 15th Save On Tuesday
Cleveland Guardian relief pitcherEmmanuel Clasecontinued his dominant campaign, earning the save in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the New York Mets. The 26-year-old allowed a hit over a scoreless inning, notching his 15th save of the season. His ERA now lies at 0.36, with a 0.59 WHIP on the season to accompany his league-leading 15 saves. This is everything a fantasy manager could hope for in a fantasy baseball closer who is one of the first relievers off draft boards. Relievers can be so volatile on a year-to-year basis, but with a career 1.84 ERA, Clase continues to show why he is arguably the best closer in the game. There's not much more to say about Clase except that you can expect to keep reaping the rewards of rostering the top fantasy closer in the game.

He is now tied for the most saves in baseball with Ryan Helsley and has converted 14 of 17 save opportunities with a 0.37 ERA, an 8.88 K/9 rate, and a 0.73 BB/9 rate. Sat May 1800:53Emmanuel Clase Shuts Door For 13th Save
Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase shut the door on the division-rival Minnesota Twins in Friday's win, picking up his 13th save of the year with a clean ninth inning and one strikeout. Jose Ramirez's go-ahead home run in the eighth inning gave the Guardians a 3-2 lead and created a save situation for Clase, who is now tied for MLB's lead with his 13 saves following Friday's performance. The 26-year-old former American League Reliever of the Year has been as dominant as ever in 2024, giving up a lone run and just two walks with 23 strikeouts over 22 1/3 innings as Cleveland's closer. Continue treating Clase as one of fantasy's elite closers, and he's very much in the running to lead baseball in saves for a third consecutive year at this pace.

Wed Apr 2400:33Emmanuel Clase Locks Up Seventh Save Tuesday
Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase picked up his seventh save of the season in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Red Sox. Clase came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by three and shut things down by striking out the side. The 26-year-old has looked more like his old self this season, converting all but two save opportunities with a 0.75 ERA, a 9.75 K/9 rate, and a 0.75 BB/9 rate. Clase was still a high-end fantasy option in 2023 with slightly less impressive numbers overall, so he can be even more valuable if he reverts to how he performed early in his career.

Fri Apr 1900:50Emmanuel Clase Bounces Back With Save On Thursday
Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase locked down his fifth save of the season in a 5-4 win over the Boston Red Sox on Thursday. Clase was sharp in this one, throwing a perfect inning and striking out one. It was nice to see this kind of outing from Clase, who had blown his last two save opportunities before this one. That said, the 26-year-old has been sharp overall this season, going 5-for-7 in save opportunities while pitching to a 1.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. He will remain an elite closer for fantasy purposes.

The 26-year-old shook off the two-out hit by striking out Alex Kirilloff to the end game. He is 4-for-4 in save chances and has not allowed a run this season. Clase is off to a hot start as Cleveland's primary closer and will look to rack up his third straight 40-save campaign in 2024.

Thu Apr 421:37Emmanuel Clase Nets Third Save Thursday
Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase registered his third save already this year to finish off the division-rival Minnesota Twins in Thursday's 4-2 win, pitching a clean ninth inning to protect the victory. Clase didn't fan any of the three batters he faced on a day the Guards punched out 15, but he's now up to three scoreless innings with two strikeouts to begin the season. After leading baseball in saves in each of the past two campaigns, the 26-year-old former American League Reliever of the Year is tied with Clay Holmes for the lead in saves during the very early stages of 2024. Cleveland paced MLB with 81 save opportunities last year, and Clase will hope to ride a similar wave again. He's entrenched as one of fantasy's elite closers going forward and should have no problem reaching 30 saves this season.

Fri Mar 1509:17Emmanuel Clase Has Rough Inning Of Work
Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase allowed a three-run homer to Alan Trejo in one inning against the Colorado Rockies on Thursday in Cactus League action. It was the first bad performance this spring for the 25-year-old and he has now thrown five innings with nine strikeouts. There were some whispers this offseason of a potential Clase trade, but nothing came to fruition and he remains the Guardians closer. The right-hander is coming off of another strong season and remains one of the top closers in the game. Managers shouldn't hesitate to draft Clase as one of the top bullpen options entering 2024.

Mon Feb 520:44Guardians Unlikely To Trade Emmanuel Clase
Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase is drawing trade interest from multiple teams, but a deal appears unlikely in the short term, according to sources. Cleveland has club options and control of Clase through the 2028 season, so there is no motivation for the Guardians to move one of the best closers in baseball right now. The 25-year-old right-hander led the league in saves for the second straight season in 2023 with a career-high 44 saves. That was the good news. The bad news is that he also had a career-high nine losses while also blowing a league-leading 12 saves for Cleveland. Clase allowed more contact and posted a 3.22 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and a career-low 21.2 percent strikeout rate. It's something to think about for fantasy managers, but he's going to be a top-five closer in 2024 drafts regardless.

Wed Jan 1714:38Cubs Showing Interest in Guardians' Emmanuel Clase
The Chicago Cubs are looking to bolster their bullpen and are showing interest in Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase. It was reported earlier in the offseason that Clase is a trade candidate and that the Guardians would be willing to move the All-Star. The Cubs are likely far from the only club interested in the 25-year-old considering his immense success through parts of four MLB seasons. Clase is coming off of a 3.22 ERA across 75 outings in the 2023 season but he also posted a 1.36 ERA or better in each of the 2021 and 2022 campaigns. His 86 saves over the past two seasons are easily the most in baseball, 14 more than the Blue Jays' Jordan Romano. He also ranks first in baseball with 152 appearances over the last two seasons, seven more than second-place A.J. Minter.

Sat Dec 2 202313:19Cleveland Willing To Trade Emmanuel Clase
Cleveland Guardians relief pitcher Emmanuel Clase is a potential trade candidate this winter, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.com. The Guardians are willing to move the All-Star closer and there should be no shortage of teams vying for his services. Clase had a bit of a letdown season in 2023, by his lofty standards, as he finished with a 3.22 ERA, 1.156 WHIP, and 64:16 K/BB ratio to go along with 44 saves over 72 2/3 innings. He's still just 25 years old, however, and is widely considered one of the best closers in the game. The dynamic reliever technically doesn't become an unrestricted free agent until 2029 as he's locked in through 2026, at least, with a pair of club options in 2027 and 2028, respectively. He could fetch a very nice return on the trade market but where he ends up getting traded to is anyone's guess.
