Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Wade Miley (groin, shoulder) will throw a simulated game on Wednesday in New York with three up-downs. If all goes well with that session, he will most likely move his rehab to Triple-A Nashville for a couple of minor-league rehab starts. Groin and shoulder injuries have limited the 37-year-old veteran southpaw during spring training, which will force him to open the year on the injured list. Miley might not be sidelined for long if he looks good in his minor-league rehab starts, but fantasy managers in mixed leagues should be looking for better upside arms for rotation depth. He has found a way to induce soft contact in his career, but with a career 7.0 K/9 mark in 13 big-league seasons, he's just not going to miss enough bats.

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman (shoulder) is planning to start Monday's Grapefruit League finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates, which would set him up to avoid the injured list and take his first turn in the starting rotation to open the regular season. Gausman threw an encouraging side session in camp on Saturday and will throw "three innings, 55 pitches and go from there" on Monday. Had he not experienced shoulder soreness earlier in spring training, he would have been the team's Opening Day starter. Barring a setback on Monday, Gausman is lined up to start the series opener against the Houston Astros. The 33-year-old is a fantasy ace when he's healthy, but the fact that he probably won't be properly stretched out early on makes him avoidable in DFS contests to begin the season.

The Atlanta Braves have signed pitcher Jesse Chavez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. The 40-year-old journeyman spent last season in Atlanta, but was recently cut by the Chicago White Sox after a tough time in the Cactus League this spring. Despite his rough numbers with the White Sox this spring, he had a great season in 2023 with a 1.56 ERA and should have an opportunity to earn a bullpen spot with the Braves. Even with his impressive numbers in 2023, he doesn't provide much in the fantasy world and can be left on the waiver wire for now.

New York Yankees starting pitcher Marcus Stroman tossed six innings of scoreless ball in Sunday's Grapefruit League contest versus the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. He also allowed four hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Stroman finishes the spring on a high note and overall had a nice Grapefruit League for his new team with a 2.61 ERA over five starts. Stroman was an All-Star for the Chicago Cubs in 2023, but struggled in the second half both on the mound and with injuries. Despite that, Stroman appears to be healthy and should have plenty of run support with his new club in 2024. He makes for a solid middle of the rotation arm for managers in upcoming drafts.

New York Mets starting pitcher Luis Severino tossed five innings of one run ball versus the Washington Nationals in Grapefruit League action on Sunday. He also allowed four hits with one walk and four strikeouts. The 30-year-old signed a one-year contract with the Mets this offseason after being a New York Yankee for the entirety of his career. Severino had a rough go of it in 2023 with injuries and an ugly 6.65 ERA, but he has shown top tier stuff previously and owns a career 3.79 ERA. Severino has struggled with injuries as he hasn't made over 19 starts since 2018, but he has been mostly productive when on the mound. With an ADP of 298, Severino makes for an intriguing late-round target in deeper leagues. He is now 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA in four starts this spring with 12 strikeouts in 14 innings.

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames had a huge game in Sunday's Cactus League matchup versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. Adames went 3-for-3 with four runs and three home runs. The homers would knock in all of his six RBI on the day. The 28-year-old was the subject of trade rumors this offseason, but stuck with the Brewers and has had a huge spring with a .317 batting average to accompany six homers and 15 RBI. Adames has seen a dip in his batting average over the past two seasons, but the power remains there with 24 or more homers in the past three seasons. An upcoming free-agent, Adames is motivated to get that big pay day and his hot start in the spring makes him an intriguing bounce back candidate.

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Blake Snell threw three innings in a simulated game on Sunday, marking a significant step in his preparation. Snell signed with the Giants on March 19, a date late enough that he won't be able to start the season with the team. The Giants aren't sure what the next steps are, but if Snell only needs one more sim game he could debut late in the first week, although that seems unlikely. Fantasy managers will want to pay close attention to Snell news before they set their lineups in the opening few weeks of the season.

Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Davis Schneider, utility bat Daniel Vogelbach, and infielder Ernie Clement have all made the opening day roster. Schneider should see a decent amount of playing time at second base, either as a platoon with Cavan Biggio or as the outright second baseman with Biggio shifting around the diamond. Vogelbach will likely be a bench bat and could fill in at DH when Justin Turner is playing in the field or taking a day off. Clement will be a bench infielder for the club. Schneider has the most appeal in fantasy and could be worth a speculative add in deeper leagues.

The Minnesota Twins were reportedly in agreement with relief pitcher Jesse Chavez earlier on Sunday. However, the two sides have not officially agreed on a deal. It sounds like the Twins and Chavez are discussing a one-year contract, but haven't made it official. The 40-year-old is looking to pitch at least one more season in the big leagues. Whether it's the Twins or elsewhere, Chavez will likely be a middle reliever. That means, Chavez probably won't carry much fantasy value on any organization.

The Minnesota Twins have signed veteran reliever Jesse Chavez to a one-year big league deal and he will serve in a middle relief role or pitch in matchup-specific opportunities. It will be the 40-year-old's tenth different major league club and 17th season, which is an enviable feat in and of itself. The Twins have lost some bullpen arms recently and needed to sure it up before the season began. While Chavez has found a niche for himself over his many MLB seasons, he's not going to log many innings and isn't a power strikeout pitcher, so his usefulness for fantasy purposes is pretty much limited to leagues where Holds are counted as a category.

The Boston Red Sox have released first baseman C.J. Cron less than a month after he was signed to a minor league deal with an invitation to camp. At the time of the signing, it was presumed he'd be the backup to Triston Casas with Bobby Dalbec being the odd man out, however, it looks likely that it will be the opposite. Cron didn't do much with the opportunity he was given, going 3-for-15 (.200) with zero home runs in six spring games. Dalbec has shown a bit more this spring, going 11-for-44 (.250) with three home runs after mashing 33 long balls in the minors last season, while also providing both infield and outfield versatility. We'll see if Cron catches on somewhere for a team in need of a power bat. The 34-year-old was an All-Star as recently as 2022, his last fully healthy season in Colorado when he hit 29 home runs.

St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Sonny Gray's (hamstring) next minor-league game is expected to be on Thursday in Florida. The Cardinals were holding out hope that Gray would be able to avoid the injured list to start the season after injuring his hamstring in spring training, but they are ultimately playing it safe and will place the 34-year-old veteran on the 15-day injured list to start the campaign. If he can avoid any setbacks as he continues to ramp up his arm, it's possible that he could make his Cardinals debut in just the second week of the season. While Gray doesn't throw hard, he has excellent control and knows how to limit hard contact. He was also the runner-up in last year's American League Cy Young voting. Despite his injury, he makes for a high-floor No. 3 fantasy starter in his first year in St. Louis.

After reassigning outfielder Eddie Rosario to minor-league camp on Saturday in a procedural move, the Washington Nationals selected both he and outfielder Jesse Winker to the major-league roster on Sunday. Given the lack of experienced options in the outfield for the rebuilding Nationals in 2024, Rosario was signed earlier this month to give the team a stable left-field presence. He could get off to a slow start this year after going just 3-for-18 in his seven Grapefruit League games, but don't ignore the power-hitting left-hander in NL-only leagues just because in D.C. The 32-year-old veteran Puerto Rican slugger might not be much to look at against left-handers, but he did manage 21 home runs and 74 RBI in 142 games played last year for the Atlanta Braves.

Oakland Athletics outfielder Miguel Andujar (knee) will be forced to open the season on the 15-day injured list. Andujar felt discomfort in his right leg while playing left field in a Cactus League game last week, and MRI results on Friday showed a torn meniscus in his right knee. He'll have surgery on March 27, and manager Mark Kotsay said that Andujar is looking at a recovery timeline of at least four to six weeks. It's a bummer for the A's and the 29-year-old, as he hit .357 with a 1.110 OPS and a team-high five home runs in 14 spring games. His absence to open the year now opens the door for No. 5 prospect Darell Hernaiz or non-roster spring standout Hoy Park to make the Opening Day roster. If everything goes well with Andujar's recovery, he could make his 2024 debut at some point in May.

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier (knee) exited Saturday's spring game against the Detroit Tigers after fouling a ball off his right knee. Kiermaier went 0-for-1 with a strikeout before exiting. The 33-year-old is expected to be fine and would have stayed in the game if it were the regular season. He is considered day-to-day, with Sunday being the earliest he could return to the lineup. Kiermaier slashed .265/.322/.419 with eight home runs, 36 RBI, 58 runs, and 14 stolen bases over 408 plate appearances in 2023. He signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the Jays during the offseason to be the team's starting center fielder. Kiermaier has an ADP of 685 and is mainly a fantasy option in AL-Only or deep league formats.

The New York Mets have informed Jose Iglesias, Tomas Nido, and Luke Voit that they did not make the team's Opening Day roster. Voit signed a minor-league contract with the Mets in February but failed to latch onto the team's main roster after hitting .097 with a home run and four RBI over 31 spring at-bats. Iglesias had a solid spring, but it wasn't enough to make the team's Opening Day roster. This spring, he hit .278 with a home run and three RBI over 36 at-bats. Both Voit and Iglesias will look to latch onto another team. Neither Iglesias nor Voit will provide much fantasy value even if they sign with another club ahead of 2024 fantasy drafts.

Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman went 3-for-4 with two-three run home runs in the team's 13-5 win over the New York Mets. He took Jose Quintana deep in the first inning for his first three-run homer of the game. The 29-year-old later blasted his second three-run homer off Yohan Ramirez in the fourth inning. It improved Bregman's productive spring stats to a .383/.431/.1.027 slash line in 47 AB. The 29-year-old has an ADP of 59.0 and is projected to hit 23 HR with 86 RBI and 91 runs this season per ATC. RotoBaller has Bregman ranked eighth among all third basemen in the latest rankings, which is in line with his ADP of 85.68 in March. Both fantasy managers and Astros fans can expect Bregman to be a productive piece of their lineup in 2024.

Washington Nationals outfielder Eddie Rosario has been reassigned to Triple-A Rochester on Saturday, but it's a procedural move. The Nationals have until noon on Sunday to add Rosario to their 40-man roster. The move doesn't mean Rosario still can't make the Opening Day roster out of camp. If the 32-year-old left-handed-hitting veteran makes the team, he'll make $4 million in the majors, plus incentives. After signing with Washington on March 6, Rosario has hit just .167 with three RBI and four walks in 18 Grapefruit League at-bats. Still, given the nature of the Nationals' rebuilding roster, Rosario could make the big-league roster and at least serve in a platoon role against right-handed pitching in their outfield in 2024. That would make him fantasy relevant in NL-only leagues for his pop.

The New York Mets will officially option designated hitter J.D. Martinez to the minor leagues to begin the 2024 regular season so that he can build up at-bats, meaning he won't be with the team to start the year for at least the first 10 days of the season. Martinez just signed with the Mets the other day and will need to see some live pitching in the minors first before the Mets are comfortable throwing him into the fire in the big leagues in 2024. When the Mets deem him ready, the 36-year-old is expected to be the team's primary designated hitter to help give All-Star first baseman Pete Alonso more protection in the lineup. Martinez had yet another 30-homer season in 2023 with the Los Angeles Dodgers and can provide plenty of power when he's healthy, but his lack of positional eligibility in fantasy makes him less attractive.

Veteran third baseman Eduardo Escobar was granted his release by the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday. The 35-year-old was a non-roster invitee and was a long shot to make the roster, but was hitting just .122 (5-for-41) with 17 strikeouts in 15 spring appearances. Escobar was an All-Star as recently as 2021 but has seen his Contact% fall for three consecutive seasons while his K% has increased three consecutive seasons. He may not have much left in the tank, but he does have the ability to play multiple positions and can bat from both sides of the plate, so perhaps he could latch on somewhere.
