RHP Huston Street has yet to resume throwing after a strained left oblique that landed him on the disabled list on April 28. Manager Mike Scioscia saidthere was no timetable for when Street could start participating in activities again and that the severity of his injury wouldn't be known until he gets to that point.

We got an MRI which confirmed what we thought, and we'll just take the next 72 hours to evaluate." With Street out, RHP Joe Smith is expected to assume the closer's role.

RHP Huston Street gave up a single with two outs in the ninth inning but needed just 12 pitches to close out the game for his fifth save of the season on Saturday night. It was also the 320th save of his career, moving him past Todd Jones (319) and into 18th place behind Jose Mesa (321).

Street (groin) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Sunday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Manager Mike Scioscia reiterated that the injury Street suffered Saturday night was "significant," so the Angels don't seem to be optimistic that the MRI will provide encouraging results. It seems quite likely that Street is done for the remainder of the regular season and quite possibly the playoffs should the Angels qualify, leaving Trevor Gott in line to serve as the team's top ninth-inning option for the time being.

Street suffered a groin injury while trying to make a play at third base Saturday night, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Shaikin also said that it is unlikely for Street to return to the team during the regular season. Manager Mike Scioscia said "it's not good" when asked about the injury. The Angels will use a closer by committee for the time being, with Trevor Gott seeming to be in line for the biggest jump in appearances.

Street left Saturday's game with an apparent leg injury, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.

The injury looked to be to his groin while trying to make a play at third base and needed to be helped off the field. The Angels will update his status in the near future, but this could be a long-term injury for the Angels' closer.

Street secured his 40th save Wednesday, giving up two hits in a one-run inning as the Angels took a 6-5 win over the Astros.

Street made things interesting, giving up an RBI single to Carlos Correa before inducing a Jed Lowrie groundout to end the game. The veteran closer has now secured at least 40 saves in two consecutive years; quite a feat, considering Street went nine seasons before reaching the 40 save mark.

Street picked up his 38th save by securing the final out in Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Twins.

Street saved both games of the key doubleheader for the Angels, pitching a scoreless ninth in the first contest. The veteran closer has been instrumental in the team's push for the postseason, having successfully converted 11 of his last 12 save opportunities dating back to Aug. 25. Street is 7-for-8 in save chances in September alone, and it is evident that the Angels greatly value his considerable experience in late-season pressure scenarios such as the AL wild-card race the Angels currently lead.

Street (3-3) imploded in a save opportunity against the Astros on Sunday, giving up five runs in 0.2 innings of work.

It was Street's first blown save since Aug. 16, but with the Angels desperately trying to maintain their ground in the playoff chase, it couldn't have come at a worse time. With Huston staked to a three-run lead, he sat down the first two Astros in nine pitches to begin the ninth inning. However that's all the farther he would get in the contest as a solo home run by Preston Tucker, a RBI single by Jose Altuve and a three-run home run by Jed Lowrie doomed the 32-year-old closer's attempt at his 36th save of the season.

Street notched his 35th save Saturday, striking out two over a scoreless frame in a 3-2 win over the Astros.

Street has been automatic against the Astros this homestand, notching two consecutive saves without surrendering a hit. With Minnesota's loss Saturday, the Angels improved to two games behind in the AL Wild Card standings; it's a safe bet that Street will see plenty of high leverage situations as the season concludes.

Street struck out one batter in a perfect ninth inning to record his 34rd save in a 3-2 win over Houston on Friday.

Street was painting the corner throughout his outing and he was clearly frustrating Houston hitters. The fastball is topping out at 87 MPH, but he's been as effective as ever. Street is 34-for-38 n save opportunities this season and has posted a 2.59 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 55.2 innings pitched.

Street secured his 33rd save Wednesday, tossing a 1-2-3 inning en route to a 3-2 win over the Dodgers.

Street worked an efficient frame, requiring just nine pitches to put the Dodgers away. The veteran closer hasn't recorded any strikeouts over his last three outings, but has also blown just one save since Jun. 28.

Street struck out two batters in a perfect ninth inning en route to his 31st save in a 2-0 win over Detroit on Thursday.

Street had allowed two hits in his three previous outings, so it was nice to see him finish out the top of the Tigers order to record his save. He now has a 2.61 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP. Street is one of the most underrated closers in the league and he's one of the few who doesn't have elite stuff, but puts up elite numbers.

Street picked up his 28th save with a clean inning Monday against the White Sox. He struck out two.

Street had a rough past couple outings, as he gave up two runs on two hits and four walks and blew a save, without striking out any of the 12 batters he faced. He came back in a big way Monday, as he shut the door with just 12 pitches and drew three swings and misses. His ERA is down to 2.72.

Street allowed a run, two hits and a walk but managed to hold on to pick up his 27th save of the season Thursday against the Royals.

After a series of pinch hitters and substitutions helped the Angels rally from a four-run hole, Street and his hodge-podge defense held on through a tense ninth inning for a 7-6 victory that snapped a seven-game skid against the Royas. Street gave up a solo homer to Eric Hosmer before stranding runners on first and second to end the game.

Street walked one but otherwise pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up his 25th save of the season Wednesday against the Twins.

Street had to wait two weeks between his 299th and 300th career saves, partly because of a minor groin injury and partly because of the All-Star break. The 31-year-old became the 27th pitcher and the second-youngest closer in baseball to record 300 saves, behind former Angels closer Francisco Rodriguez. For the season, Street is 25-for-28 in save opportunities and sports a 2.21 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 36:11 K:BB ratio in 36.2 innings.

Street (groin) will throw a bullpen session Thursday to determine whether or not he'll be available Friday, David Adler of MLB.com reports.

Street missed the week prior to the All-Star break with the groin issue, but that injury stretch could come to an end Friday if the bullpen session goes well. If he's unavailable, Joe Smith would likely continue to serve in save situations.

Street (groin) will not pitch this weekend in the Angels' series against the Mariners, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.

Manager Mike Scioscia confirmed Thursday that Street would be out through the All-Star break. Street tweaked his groin in Wednesday's outing, and earlier reports Thursday suggested that he was in danger of missing this weekend's series. More information on Street's status for after the break should be made available next week, but Scioscia said that Joe Smith would be the Angels' closer for this weekend.
