Houston Astros manager Joe Espada told SportsTalk790 that there is no timetable for first baseman Jose Abreu to return to the big-league roster. Abreu was sent down to the Florida Complex League on April 30 to help with his swing. Before being optioned, Abreu struggled at the plate, slashing .099/.156/.113 with zero home runs and three RBI. With Abreu in the minor leagues, Houston has been starting Jon Singleton at first base. Singleton is slashing .258/.329/.435 this season with three home runs and eight RBI. If Abreu does return to the MLB, he will need to prove he can produce offensively to be an everyday player for the Astros once again.

The Cincinnati Reds have activated starting pitcher Frankie Montas (forearm) from the 15-day injured list. Montas has been on the injured list since April 22 due to a forearm injury. After throwing a couple of bullpen sessions, Montas was activated and will be starting for Cincinnati on Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Montas has started five games this season and is 2-2 with a 4.19 ERA with 14 strikeouts. One possible concern for fantasy managers is the fact that Montas did not have a minor-league rehab outing or get into game action, as he just did bullpen sessions. He's also facing a Diamondbacks offense that is slashing .249/.325/.389, which ranks eighth, seventh, and 14th, respectively, in the majors.

The Oakland Athletics optioned right-hander Dany Jimenez to Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday and selected right-hander Tyler Ferguson's contract from Las Vegas in a corresponding move. The club also designated outfielder Lazaro Armenteros for assignment. Jimenez has struggled of late out of Oakland's bullpen, posting a 5.40 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, eight walks and nine strikeouts in his last 10 innings. However, the 30-year-old didn't allow an earned run in his first five appearances of the season, so his overall ERA of 3.68 doesn't look too bad. The Dominican reliever will likely be back with Oakland at some point after going to the minors to work on the command of his pitches. With Jimenez out of the picture for the time being, Lucas Erceg and Austin Adams will be the A's primary setup men in front of impressive young closer Mason Miller.

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez joined in on the action in Monday's 6-3 victory against the Miami Marlins. Hernandez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, marking his ninth of the season while pushing his hitting streak to five straight games. He is now hitting .259 (37-for-143) for the season with six doubles, nine homers, 24 runs, 26 RBI, 13 walks, and 49 strikeouts. He is fourth in strikeouts but has provided consistent play for fantasy managers this season with more favorable matchups coming this week.

Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani continued hitting homers with another one in Monday's 6-3 victory over the Miami Marlins. Ohtani went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, one walk, and one strikeout. This marked his third straight game with a home run. The 29-year-old phenom continues dominating at the plate, leading the league with 54 hits, 14 doubles, and 11 home runs while batting .370 with a .705 slugging percentage, and 1.139 OPS. Ohtani remains a must-start across all league formats and will be finishing up the Miami series this week and traveling to San Diego to face the Padres to end the week.

Kansas City Royals relief pitcher Chris Stratton picked up his second save of the season in Monday's 3-2 win over the Brewers. Stratton came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by one. He allowed a leadoff walk, induced a ground-ball double-play, allowed another walk, and ended the game with a groundout. Closer James McArthur pitched two innings in Sunday's game, so he was likely unavailable. Stratton has struggled this season with a 5.40 ERA and a 7.20 BB/9 rate in 15 innings of work. His fantasy value will remain limited if he cannot improve those metrics.

Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Caleb Thielbar earned his third save of the season in Monday's 3-1 win over the Mariners. Thielbar came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by two and delivered a 1-2-3 outing with two strikeouts. Closer Jhoan Duran was called upon to face the top of the order in the eighth inning, so Thielbar got the save opportunity. The 37-year-old veteran has gotten off to a rough start this season with a bloated 6.14 ERA in 7 1/3 innings pitched. His fantasy value will remain limited if he continues to pitch poorly, as it seems unlikely that he would earn high-leverage situations.

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson turned in a quality start but came away with a no-decision in Monday's 3-1 win over the Mariners. The 23-year-old pitched six scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and one walk with eight strikeouts. Woods Richardson has capitalized on favorable matchups since being called up and is now 1-0 with a 1.74 ERA, a 9.15 K/9 rate, and a 2.18 BB/9 rate in four starts and 20 2/3 IP. His streak has a chance to continue in his next projected start at the struggling Blue Jays.

The Detroit Tigers are expected to option outfielder Parker Meadows to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday before the team's game against the Guardians, per Detroit Free Press' Evan Petzold. The 24-year-old has slashed just .096/.224/.219 in 85 plate appearances. Ryan Vilade will be getting called up in a corresponding move and has been hitting well at Triple-A. Meadows is worth holding onto in dynasty leagues given his pedigree, but neither he nor Vilade are worth rostering in re-draft leagues at this time, as Vilade's role with the Tigers is unknown.

Toronto Blue Jays infield prospect Orelvis Martinez continued to hit on Sunday for Triple-A Buffalo, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, putting his season slashline at .296/.367/.574. If there is a question as to whether or not Martinez is ready to face major league pitching, his RBI single was a liner to left field off of Pirates pitching prospect Paul Skenes, who is about as close to major league pitching as you'll find in the minors. The 22-year-old doesn't have much left to prove in the minors after hitting at least 28 home runs in each of the last three seasons between the ages of 19 and 21, and tallying eight so far in 2024. His promotion to the big league club feels more or less imminent, so managers in need of some power production should consider stashing him ahead of time if possible.

The Baltimore Orioles announced on Monday that outfielder Austin Hays (calf) is scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Double-A Bowie on Tuesday. Hays is working his way back from a left-calf strain that has sidelined him since April 20. Before his injury, the 28-year-old had already started losing playing time in Baltimore's outfield with rookie Colton Cowser impressing early on. But since then, Cowser's bat has cooled off, so it's possible that Hays will get another shot to make some noise for the O's when he's activated from the 10-day injured list, possibly as early as later this week. Unless Hays flips the script and sends Cowser to the bench, he'll mostly be a bench option in AL-only leagues. Before his injury, he had gone 5-for-45 (.111) with no homers and two RBI in 19 games.

The Oakland Athletics placed right-hander Joe Boyle (back) on the 15-day injured list on Monday with a lower-back strain and recalled left-hander Hogan Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move. Boyle heads to the shelf a day after giving up four runs while walking three in an inning to take his fifth loss of the season on Sunday versus the Miami Marlins. The poor outing dropped the 24-year-old to 2-5 on the year with a 7.16 ERA (5.07 FIP) and 1.73 WHIP with a league-leading 23 walks and 29 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings over his first seven starts. It's unclear who will replace Boyle in Oakland's starting rotation, but it could be Mitch Spence after he tossed 4 2/3 innings in relief of Boyle on Sunday after he left with his back injury.

Oakland Athletics pitching prospect Hogan Harris was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday after the A's placed starter Joe Boyle on the IL with a lower back strain. Harris had a brief debut with the A's in 2023 that was mostly forgettable, with a 7.14 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 9.9% K-BB% over 14 appearances (six starts, 63 IP). Triple-A in 2024 has gone worse for the 27-year-old, posting a 9.00 ERA in six starts, allowing five home runs, a 20:21 BB:K, and an ugly 1.95 WHIP. At this point, Hogan has not been announced as a starter for any of the Athletics' upcoming games, and the A's do have a doubleheader Wednesday, but Hogan will likely be used for long relief anyway. Regardless, as far as fantasy is concerned, you're staying away.

Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez (shoulder) will have another MRI exam this week and could start his throwing program shortly after, according to manager Torey Lovullo. "He said he feels great and he's hoping for good news. And once we get that good news, he's going to be full steam ahead getting into a throwing program," Lovullo said. As long as the imaging shows significant healing and Rodriguez is asymptomatic, Lovullo expects a throwing program to begin quickly. The skipper said E-Rod told him he has been pain-free after he was initially shut down from throwing in mid-April due to left-shoulder tightness. It's good news for the 31-year-old veteran southpaw, but he won't be eligible to come off the 60-day injured list until late May and he's going to need a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment before he's able to rejoin Arizona's starting rotation.

Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (groin) does not have a sports hernia, and the team thinks he'll be able to return soon around the time his 15-day injured list stint is up. Eovaldi visited with a specialist on Monday in New York, with Bochy calling it "good news." It was reported earlier on Monday that the 34-year-old veteran wouldn't need to go on a minor-league rehab assignment before returning from his IL stint, so all around it's been good news for Eovaldi's fantasy managers. As long as he doesn't suffer a setback when he returns to throwing, Eovaldi should be expected to return to Texas' starting rotation during the upcoming series against the Los Angeles Angels. Eovaldi needs to be stashed in all fantasy leagues while he's on the IL.

Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez belted his seventh home run of the 2024 regular season in Monday's 2-1 win over the division-rival Detroit Tigers, helping lift his team to victory. Ramirez's go-ahead blast came in the eighth inning, and it was his second homer in as many days after going yard in Sunday's series finale against the Los Angeles Angels. It's been a much-needed rebound for Ramirez, who was mired in a 3-for-28 dry spell over eight games prior to Sunday. The 31-year-old perennial All-Star is still slashing a disappointing .230/.278/.432 on the season, but he does have seven bombs, 28 RBI, 23 runs scored, and five stolen bases covering 139 at-bats (34 games) for the Guardians. Ramirez will try to solve his woes against the Tigers during the final two contests of this three-game series, as he's batting just .167 (9-for-54) with three round-trippers and six RBI across 14 games versus Detroit since 2023.

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Grayson Rodriguez (shoulder) played catch on Sunday to begin his throwing program after being placed on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his right shoulder last week, pitching coach Drew French said. Rodriguez threw from 60 to 75 feet, and the plan is to soon ramp him up to bullpen sessions. Whether or not he needs to go on a minor-league rehab assignment before rejoining Baltimore's rotation has yet to be determined, but the O's and fantasy managers could get the 24-year-old former top prospect back sometime in May if all goes well in the hurler's recovery. Despite a shaky 3.71 ERA (3.57 FIP), 1.41 WHIP, 37:12 K:BB over 34 innings (six starts) this year, Rodriguez needs to be stashed in all leagues. In the meantime, Dean Kremer and Cole Irvin will serve as streaming options in favorable matchups.

Seattle Mariners infielder Luis Urias got the start at third base on Sunday in the series finale against the Houston Astros after saying on Saturday night that he was looking forward to getting the chance to play more often against right-handed pitchers. Manager Scott Servais said that could happen more often moving forward. The 26-year-old went 1-for-3 with two RBI on Sunday in the win over Houston, but he's still hitting just .167 (7-for-42) with three home runs, 10 RBI and four runs scored in 20 games in 2024 in his first year in Seattle. Despite the poor average, Urias has been clutch with runners in scoring position, but even with more playing time potentially coming in the near future, he's more of an AL-only asset with the way he's been swinging the bat.

Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo (elbow) made his third minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday night and pitched into the fifth inning, giving up no runs on three hits while walking none and striking out six. The 24-year-old threw 66 pitches, and his fastball velocity was up to 95.7 mph. He was shut down in spring training with right-elbow inflammation and opened the season on the injured list. Woo has a 17-to-0 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 11 1/3 scoreless innings in three rehab starts with Tacoma and looks ready to join Seattle's starting rotation, although the M's haven't announced when that might happen. There hasn't been a need to rush Woo back with how well rookie Emerson Hancock has pitched the last several weeks. Woo could be activated to make his 2024 debut next weekend against the Oakland Athletics. The M's don't want to use a six-man rotation and would prefer to keep Hancock stretched out in Triple-A.

Tampa Bay Rays left-hander Shane McClanahan (elbow) has ramped up to throwing from 90 feet. Manager Kevin Cash said on Friday that McClanahan is "progress well," although he's still in the early stages of his rehab from the second Tommy John procedure of his career. The 27-year-old southpaw is expected to miss the entire 2024 season. In a best-case scenario, it's possible that he'll return in the late stages this year, but fantasy managers in single-year formats shouldn't count on it at all. McClanahan was officially placed on the 60-day injured list on Feb. 14 before the team's first spring training workout. He underwent his second Tommy John surgery on Aug. 21 of 2023.
