Falcons signed RB Gartrell Johnson, formerly of the Giants.

With Jerious Norwood (ACL tear) out for the season, Johnson will battle Antone Smith for the No. 3 job behind Michael Turner and Jason Snelling. He's no lock to be active on game days, much less a fantasy factor. The Falcons also added to the practice squad Shawnbrey McNeal, a player closer to Norwood's skill-set.

Giants waived RB Gartrell Johnson and WR Tim Brown.

Johnson, a running back-fullback tweener, was claimed off waivers from the Chargers in mid-September of last season. Considering the Giants' backfield injuries last year, it's a bad signed that he remained bench bound. Brown was smallish receiver undrafted out of Rutgers.
