Sat Aug 30 201420:06Tavecchio released by Raiders
Tavecchio has been released by the Raiders, the Bay Area News Group reports.
One day after losing the Lions' kicking battle, Tavecchio was signed as a temporary injury replacement for Sebastian Janikowski (quad), who is expected to be ready for Week 1. While he probably won't open the season on a team, Tavecchio seems to near the top of the pecking order among unsigned kickers.

Tavecchio was claimed off waivers by the Raiders on Tuesday.
After losing out to Nate Freese for the Lions' kicking job a day earlier, Tavecchio didn't take long to find a new home. He'll serve as the Raiders' kicker for their preseason finale Thursday, but with Sebastian Janikowski (quad) expected to be ready to go for the regular season, Tavecchio could soon be sent back out on the waiver wire.
Mon Aug 25 201412:59The Lions have released Tavecchio
The Lions have released Tavecchio, the Detroit Free Press reports.
As a result, seventh-round draft pick Nate Freese is in line to serve as the Lions' kicker out of the gate, while Tavecchio will try to catch on elsewhere in the coming days.
Mon Aug 4 201412:53Tavecchio expected to compete for Lions' kicking job throughout ...
Tavecchio, who is currently entrenched in a position battle with Nate Freese, is expected to compete for the Lions' kicking job throughout the preseason, the team's official website reports.
Tavecchio has previously competed for roster spots with the 49ers and Packers, but now holds his best chance of making an NFL regular season squad with the Lions. In light of Detroit not retaining kickers David Akers, the team spent a sixth round pick on Freese, while signing Tavecchio to push the rookie. At the moment, neither player is said to have an upper leg in the competition, so preseason play should prove the deciding factor. For a team as high scoring as the Lions, whichever kicker ultimately claims the position should enjoy decent fantasy value despite their lack of experience.

Tue Mar 26 201300:17Packers sign K Tavecchio
Packers signed K Giorgio Tavecchio.
After going undrafted out of Cal, Tavecchio had a cup of coffee in the 49ers' 2012 training camp. Mason Crosby converted under 64 percent of his field goal attempts last year, so the Packers are bringing in offseason competition.
