Thu Jul 26 201217:49Twins transfer Pavano to 60-day disabled list
Twins transferred RHP Carl Pavano from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move clears a spot for Luis Perdomo on the 40-man roster. Pavano has been on the disabled list since early June with a right anterior capsular strain, so the move will not have an impact on the timetable for his return. The veteran right-hander threw a bullpen session over the weekend and is hopeful to begin a minor league rehab assignment in the near future.

Sun Jul 22 201217:55Pavano (shoulder) throws 1st bullpen session
Carl Pavano (shoulder) threw his first bullpen session on Sunday.
According to MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger, the session "went fine." Pavano didn't pitch well before hitting the DL, compiling a 2-5 record, 6.00 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over his first 11 starts. However, with the plethora of injuries they've absorbed in the rotation, and a potential Francisco Liriano trade looming, the Twins will gladly welcome back their veteran righty as soon as he's available. Pavano should be ready for a minor league rehab assignment by the end of this month and should be back in the Twins' starting rotation by mid-August.

Carl Pavano (shoulder) played catch Tuesday for the first time since landing on the disabled list.
Pavano has yet to throw from a mound and will need to build up his stamina when he starts doing so, so he's not close to returning. "He's just doing his rehab work," Gardenhire said. "He has not gone off the mound yet. He's just doing his tossing program. There's not too much to it. It's a process. We're just letting him do his thing with the trainers. It's a program they have set up with a list, but we're not close."

Fri Jun 15 201209:21Carl Pavano hopes to resume throwing soon
Carl Pavano (shoulder) took a strength test this week and hopes to resume throwing soon.
Pavano's shoulder appears to be getting better, but the Twins surely won't rush him back to the rotation after he's dealt with shoulder issues all season. We'd be surprised to see him prior to the All-Star break.

Sat Jun 2 201217:12Pavano heading for MRI on shoulder
Carl Pavano is flying back to Minneapolis to get checked out by Dr. Buss and receive an MRI on his ailing shoulder.
He's been extremely ineffective through his first eleven starts on the season, leading Pavano and others to believe that there is something wrong with his shoulder. We'll know more about his status in a couple of days, but he shouldn't be owned in most formats regardless of the news at this point.

Fri Jun 1 201223:44Carl Pavano (shoulder) could be placed on DL
Carl Pavano plans to talk with Twins manager Ron Gardenhire and pitching coach Rick Anderson about his shoulder on Saturday.
Pavano gave up seven runs (six earned) on 3 2/3 innings in Friday's loss to the Indians and now has a 6.00 ERA over his first 11 starts this year. He has been pitching through a shoulder issue, but a stint on the disabled list may be in his future.

Fri Jun 1 201221:42Pavano hammered in loss to Indians
Carl Pavano was hammered by the Indians on Friday, surrendering seven runs on nine hits in just 3 2/3 innings of work.
Pavano struck out two and walked one in the game. A two-run homer from Lonnie Chisenhall and a grand slam from Jason Kipnis provided the majority of the damage. With the loss, he falls to 2-5 on the season and raises his ERA to an even 6.00. Sadly, the Twins don't have any better options to replace him in their rotation, so he's likely to continue to pitch poorly and eat up innings. He'll hope for better results when he takes on the Royals in Kansas City on Wednesday.

Sat May 26 201218:08Pavano gives up six runs in loss
Carl Pavano was knocked around for six runs on 10 hits over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Tigers on Saturday.
Pavano gave up two runs in the first inning and four more in the fifth before getting pulled. He struck out two and walked none in the loss and now holds a 5.46 ERA through 10 starts this year. The veteran right-hander has been bothered by a shoulder issue recently and isn't pitching particularly well, so he can be left inactive in most fantasy leagues.

Fri May 18 201211:13Carl Pavano might not need shot after all
Carl Pavano is "feeling fantastic" and might not receive a cortisone shot for his right shoulder after all.
Pavano was pondering the shot due to inflammation in the shoulder that's limited his range of motion and hurt his velocity. But, evidently he's experienced significant improvement after working on strengthening the shoulder. The veteran right-hander has a 5.14 ERA in eight starts this year.

Carl Pavano will stay back in Minneapolis this week to continue strengthening his right shoulder.
Pavano allowed four runs over six innings Monday against the Indians as he continues to pitch through shoulder soreness. He's still on track to make his next scheduled start Saturday against the Brewers, though it's possible he may receive a cortisone shot. The veteran right-hander has a 5.14 ERA in eight starts this year and has failed to complete seven innings since April 16.

Sun May 13 201218:11Pavano (shoulder) may get a cortisone shot
Carl Pavano (shoulder) said he might get a cortisone shot after Monday's start if pain in his right shoulder subsists.
Pavano underwent a precautionary MRI on his right shoulder over the weekend which revealed inflammation. He will send those results to another doctor to get a second opinion. Pavano has had some range of motion issues all season, which has led to declined velocity. If you rely on Pavano in an AL-only league, monitor Monday's start. If the injury is more serious than has been let on -- a Twins specialty -- Pavano might need some time on the shelf. Clearly, the veteran isn't overly concerned at this point.

Carl Pavano underwent a precautionary MRI on his right shoulder, which revealed inflammation.
Pavano has had some range of motion issues all season, which has led to declined velocity. He's not in pain, though, and will make his scheduled start Monday. This is something to file away, as the veteran right-hander has obviously had his share of injuries in the past.

Sat May 5 201201:23Carl Pavano improves to 2-2
Carl Pavano yielded two runs and eight hits in six innings Friday in a win over the Mariners.
Pavano pulled off the rare feat of getting a win despite being outpitched. The Mariners led 2-0 until the top of the seventh, when the Twins rallied for three runs off Jason Vargas and Tom Wilhelmsen. Vargas was charged with just one run in 6 1/3 innings, giving him a better line than Pavano, but it was Pavano who got the victory in the 3-2 game.

Carl Pavano pitched fairly well in a loss to the Rays on Saturday, allowing just three runs (two earned) on seven hits in his six innings of work.
Pavano even managed to rack up seven strikeouts while walking just two. He traded zeroes with James Shields until the sixth inning when B.J. Upton delivered a two-run single. He'll look to carryover this solid performance when he takes on the Royals next week.

Mon Apr 16 201222:47Carl Pavano looks good vs. Yanks
Carl Pavano fared well against his former team Monday, holding the Yankees to three runs on seven hits and a walk over seven innings in a 7-3 win.
He notched a surprising six strikeouts against the Bombers. Pavano allowed back-to-back homers in the first inning, but he settled in after that and pitched really well. It's his best outing of the season in what was a difficult matchup. The strikeouts won't be there, but the veteran righty should have AL-only value. He'll get the Rays next.
