As they say, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. Valdez had exactly one hit over his previous 23 at-bats before his first three-hit game of the season. The journeyman utility infielder is now batting .239 with four homers and 23 RBI on the season.

Wilson Valdez likely will be designated for assignment to make roster space when Jimmy Rollins is activated from the disabled list, reports Todd Zolecki of MLB.com.
Valdez, a strong defender, took Rollins' spot on the roster, so this swap would make sense. He turns 32 next week and produced a .596 OPS in 48 plate appearances. It's likely he would clear waivers.
