Mariners manager Eric Wedge said Endy Chavez will get the bulk of the starts in center field with both Franklin Gutierrez and Michael Saunders on the disabled list.
Saunders could be back this weekend, so it will be a short run as a starter for Chavez. Jason Bay will back up in center.

Hitting in the leadoff spot, Endy Chavez came through in a spot start Thursday against the Tigers, going 2-for-3 with an RBI single.
The Mariners got to Justin Verlander with a pair of runs in the seventh on Chavez's single and Kyle Seager's RBI double. That was all they needed with Hisashi Iwakuma putting up another brilliant performance. Chavez has five hits in 16 at-bats since being called up by the M's a week ago.

Endy Chavez went 4-for-4 with two RBI and a walk against the A's on Sunday.
It's taken a bunch of injuries to put Chavez back into Baltimore's plans -- anyone of Nick Markakis, Nolan Reimold, Wilson Betemit or Jim Thome probably would have started over him today if healthy -- but he made the most of his opportunity and he's now 6-for-11 with two walks since his recall on Sept. 11. He'll likely continue to see quite a bit of action against righties.

Chavez was designated for assignment by the Orioles over the weekend. If he clears waivers, Connolly would be surprised if he didn't accept a minor league assignment with Triple-A Norfolk.

Chavez batted leadoff and played left field. The veteran outfielder hasn't been sidelined since mid June with a hamstring injury. Barring any setbacks, he should rejoin the O's later this month.

Endy Chavez flew to Sarasota, Florida on Thursday for treatment on his injured right hamstring.
Chavez was placed on the disabled list last week with a strained right hamstring. He has been with the team over the past few days, but traveled down to Florida because he wasn't satisfied with his progress. It now appears unlikely he'll make it back before the end of the month.

Endy Chavez belted his first home run of the season, helping to lead the Orioles to a 2-1 victory over the Rays on Saturday.
He finished the day 1-for-4 with that solo homer off of Jeremy Hellickson in the third inning. While he's hitting just .129 on the season, he continues to see playing time in the Orioles outfield with the plethora of injuries they have had to absorb. He shouldn't be a factor in all but the deepest of fantasy leagues.

Orioles placed Endy Chavez on the 15-day disabled list with a sore intercostal muscle.
The Orioles are calling up Tommy Hunter to start Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader in place of Jason Hammel. Since Hunter hasn't been down for 10 days, he can only replace an injured player. Chavez, who suffered the injury Tuesday, will hit the shelf to make that happen. Chavez is batting just .133/.175/.167 this year.
