Tue Aug 24 201014:37Athletics recall OF Matt Carson
Athletics recalled OF Matt Carson from Triple-A Sacramento.
Perhaps because the team wanted a right-handed bat, Carson got the call instead of Matt Watson. Though Carson's numbers in Triple-A look okay (.303/.377/.553), he is 28 years old and repeating the level for the fourth time. The outfielder has slowly been developing power as he's aged, though, so the playing time battle in the Oakland corners bears watching. Power-starved prospect hunters may have to wait another week to see what Chris Carter can do.
Mon Aug 9 201018:21As option OF Matt Carson
Athletics optioned OF Matt Carson to Triple-A Sacramento.
Carson was part of a cobbled-together outfield in Oakland but didn't get it going with the big league squad. He will probably go back to over-performing his mediocre career minor league numbers as a 29-year-old in Triple-A. He's not really interesting to fantasy leagues.
Mon Jul 5 201018:03A's call up Matt Carson
Athletics recalled OF Matt Carson from Triple-A Sacramento.
Carson was shipped out when the A's acquired Conor Jackson last month, but he's back now that their new acquisition has hit the DL. The 28-year-old outfielder is 1-for-9 over two stints with Oakland this season. Carson has put together a .301/.376/.534 batting line this season with Triple-A Sacramento, well above his career norms. Don't expect much in fantasy leagues.
Tue Jun 15 201017:10A's send Matt Carson to Triple-A
Athletics optioned OF Matt Carson to Triple-A Sacramento.
Carson was cleared in order to make room for the newly-acquired Conor Jackson. The 28-year-old outfielder is 1-for-9 in two stints with the big club this season. He hit his first home run of the season -- and the second of his career -- against the Giants on Saturday.
Tue Jun 8 201018:27A's recall Matt Carson from Triple-A
Athletics recalled OF Matt Carson from Triple-A Sacramento.
Carson spent a week with the A's earlier this season and failed to record a hit in three at-bats. His Triple-A starts are solid, but the outfielder's playing time will be limited again this time around.
Fri Apr 30 201016:34A's demote OF Carson to Triple-A
Athletics optioned outfielder Matt Carson to Triple-A Sacramento.
Carson started the first game after his callup eight days ago, went 0-for-3 and hadn't seen the field since. With younger talents likely to get chances later on, Carson might not receive another callup.
Thu Apr 22 201013:21A's purchase contract of OF Carson
Athletics purchased the contract of OF Matt Carson from Triple-A Sacramento.
Carson will take the place of the injured Travis Buck on the 25-man roster. The 28-year-old was batting .357/.400/.464 in 56 at-bats to begin the year. He was 6-for-21 (.286) as a September call-up with Oakland last season. He'll start in left field and bat eighth against CC Sabathia on Thursday. Welcome back to the big leagues.
