Sun Jul 7 201316:45Diamond struggles mightily in loss to Toronto
Scott Diamond was doomed by a rough fifth inning in Sunday's loss to the Blue Jays, allowing six runs on eight hits and four walks over five innings.
Diamond wasn't sharp throughout the afternoon, but the house of cards finally collapsed during a four-run fifth inning which included a solo home run off the bat of Jose Reyes and Rajai Davis' three-run bomb. Diamond struck out just one and surrendered three long flies. The left-hander has allowed four runs or more in five of his last six starts. Ignore Diamond (5-8, 5.52 ERA) in all formats at this point.

Wed Jun 26 201315:57Diamond allows four runs in loss to Marlins
Scott Diamond allowed four earned runs in five innings Wednesday as the Twins fell to the Marlins.
Diamond has allowed four runs in each of his last three starts and he yielded seven runs on June 9 against the Nationals. The left-hander has a 5.40 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 76 2/3 innings this season. He's not a fantasy guy.

Thu Jun 20 201317:00Diamond goes five-plus in win over White Sox
Scott Diamond gave up four runs -- three earned -- in 5 1/3 innings Thursday in a win over the White Sox.
Diamond gave up seven hits (including two homers) while walking one and fanning a pair. While he got the win, he has failed to complete six innings in seven out of his last eight outings. He's not an option outside of deeper AL-only leagues.

Fri Jun 14 201323:34Diamond allows four runs in loss to Tigers
One bad inning doomed Scott Diamond in Friday's loss to the Tigers, where he allowed four runs on five hits over his 5 2/3 innings.
Diamond walked two and struck out one on the evening. He was locked in a pitcher's duel with Rick Porcello for most of the evening, until the Tigers broke free for four runs on three consecutive RBI doubles in the sixth inning. Diamond will carry a 4-6 record, 5.29 ERA and 1.49 WHIP into his next start against the White Sox at home on Thursday.

Sun Jun 9 201316:41Scott Diamond blasted by Nationals
Scott Diamond was rocked by the Nationals Sunday, getting charged with seven runs -- six earned -- on 10 hits and two walks over just 4 2/3 frames.
It's arguably the worst start of the season from the southpaw. Diamond is still throwing strikes and is getting grounders at a pretty good clip, but his command hasn't been nearly as good as it was last year, and it's resulted in some ugly lines. He'll take a 5.19 ERA and 1.52 WHIP into a tough matchup against the Tigers next weekend.

Sun Jun 2 201317:20Scott Diamond goes six scoreless
Scott Diamond had one of his best starts of the season Sunday, spinning sit shutout innings in a 10-0 win over the Mariners.
The southpaw permitted just four hits, walked one and struck out three. It was quite a beatdown that the Twins laid on the M's, as they gathered 16 hits -- including four homers -- and 10 runs, while Seattle had just four singles all day. Diamond had pitched poorly each of the last four times out, so it was a much-needed step in the right direction for the lefty. He faces the Nationals next.

Wed May 29 201300:58Diamond goes 4 2/3 in no-decision vs. Brewers
Scott Diamond allowed four runs in 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Tuesday.
The Twins went on to win the game, but Diamond was long gone by the time the outcome was decided. Diamond was staked to a four-run lead but couldn't hold on, allowing eight hits in his 4 2/3 innings of work. The left-hander has been a mixed bag this year after a successful 2012, and his lack of strikeouts makes him unusable for fantasy purposes. His next start will come against the Mariners on Sunday.

Fri May 24 201300:20Diamond gives up 3 runs in no-decision vs DET
Scott Diamond surrendered three runs on nine hits and a walk over 5 2/3 frames in a no-decision loss Thursday to the Tigers.
He struck out five. Diamond allowed a two-run homer to Miguel Cabrera and spent the rest of the evening dancing out of self-inflicted danger. Diamond was 3-2 with a 3.03 on May 7. Over his last three starts, he's allowed 15 earned runs and five homers over 15 2/3 innings. Diamond's control is almost as worrisome as the baseballs he's watched fly into the stands. Usually a southpaw with plus command, Diamond has walked seven and struck out just six in his last three outings.

Sat May 18 201323:17Diamond allows six runs again as Twins lose
Scott Diamond was hammered for six earned runs in 4 1/3 innings as the Twins lost to the Red Sox on Saturday.
It was the second straight outing in which he allowed six runs. Diamond showed some very positive signs in his first two starts of May, but he has quickly fallen back to earth. The left-hander now has a 4.99 ERA and 1.44 ERA in 39 2/3 innings this season and is not relevant outside of deep AL-only fantasy leagues.

Sun May 12 201317:09Diamond hammered in Twins' loss to Orioles
Scott Diamond allowed six earned runs in 5 2/3 innings Sunday as the Twins fell to the Orioles.
Diamond was brilliant last Tuesday night against the Red Sox, allowing only three hits (and no walks) over seven scoreless innings. But it all fell apart for him on Sunday afternoon at Target Field. The six-run pounding lifted his ERA from 3.03 all the way to 4.08.

Tue May 7 201322:52Diamond goes seven scoreless, Twins beat Sox
Scott Diamond pitched seven scoreless innings as the Twins defeated the Red Sox 6-1 on Tuesday.
Diamond allowed just three hits and no walks over his seven innings to earn his third win of the year. The left-hander doesn't strike out a ton of batters, but he manages to get results. He's a much better real-life pitcher than fantasy pitcher, though, so he's best left for AL-only and only the deepest mixed leagues. His next turn will come Sunday against the Orioles.

Wed May 1 201316:17Scott Diamond earns win over Tigers
Scott Diamond yielded two runs and four hits in six innings Wednesday in a win over the Tigers.
Diamond is 2-2 with a 3.97 ERA in four starts since coming off the disabled list. He should be worth using in AL-only leagues most weeks, but since he faces the Red Sox in Boston next time out, it wouldn't be a bad idea to bench him.

Fri Apr 26 201323:00Diamond allows 12 hits in loss to Rangers
Scott Diamond didn't have his best stuff in Friday's loss to the Rangers, allowing three runs on 12 hits over 6 1/3 innings.
On the plus side, Diamond struck out four on the night without walking a batter. The Rangers jumped on him for a pair of runs in the first inning, and added a solo homer from Adrian Beltre in the sixth. He'll take a 4.32 ERA, 1.56 WHIP into Wednesday's outing where he'll take on the Tigers in Detroit.

Scott Diamond (elbow) is prepared to throw 100 pitches or more in his season debut Saturday against the Mets.
Diamond threw 83 pitches over five innings in a minor league rehab start on Sunday, so he's ready to have a pretty standard workload. The Twins are likely hoping they'll have a big enough lead where they won't have to push him right away.

Scott Diamond (elbow) is scheduled to make his season debut on Saturday.
He originally was slated to start Friday, but the Twins have decided to push him back a day and let Vance Worley take the ball Friday in the series opener versus the Mets. Diamond, who is coming back from surgery to remove a bone chip from his left elbow, was officially cleared after a successful bullpen session Wednesday. "Everything went good," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said of Diamond's side session. "He should be flying to Minnesota and hopefully he'll beat the snow."
