Wed Aug 17 201122:00Zach Stewart moved to bullpen
Zach Stewart has been moved to the White Sox bullpen.
Stewart has been pitching better than Phil Humber lately, but the Sox not surprisingly will stick with the guy that has produced most of the season as the fifth member of their rotation. The 24-year-old will serve as a long man out of the bullpen and will be ready to step back into the rotation if injury strikes.

Fri Aug 12 201123:25Zach Stewart solid in loss
Zach Stewart suffered a tough-luck loss Friday, as he held the Royals to two runs on seven hits and two walks over 6 1/3 innings in the defeat.
He struck out three and allowed a solo homer to Billy Butler. Stewart has now posted two straight quality starts for the White Sox, giving up just three runs over 12 2/3 innings. That might be enough for him to retain a rotation spot over the struggling Philip Humber, as the Sox are expected to go back to a five-man unit soon. If he's still a member of the rotation next week, Stewart will likely face the Rangers.

Mon Aug 8 201117:57Stewart to start Friday vs. Royals
White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper confirmed that Zach Stewart will start Friday against the Royals.
Stewart gave up one run over 6 1/3 innings against the Twins on Saturday, so the White Sox will stick with a six-man rotation in the short-term. Cooper indicated that they could reassess things as soon as next week and that they may eventually go with their four best pitchers in order to hang around in the American League Central.

Fri Aug 5 201123:20White Sox recall RHP Stewart from minors
White Sox recalled RHP Zach Stewart from Triple-A Charlotte.
Stewart, who was recently acquired from the Blue Jays in the Edwin Jackson deal, will make the start Saturday against the Twins. The 24-year-old right-hander made his major league debut in June and posted a 4.86 ERA and 10/5 K/BB ratio over three starts. He has four pitches in his arsenal and induces plenty of ground balls, so there's a chance he could develop into a mid-rotation starter in the long-run. He is worth consideration in AL-only formats.

Wed Jul 27 201113:33White Sox acquire Stewart from Jays
White Sox acquired RHPs Zach Stewart and Jason Frasor from the Blue Jays for INF Mark Teahen and RHP Edwin Jackson.
Stewart, 24, has a 4.20 ERA and 74/24 K/BB ratio over 16 starts with Double-A New Hampshire this season. He posted a 4.86 ERA and 10/5 K/BB ratio over his first three big league starts last month. There has been some debate about whether he'll end up as a starter or reliever, but at least Ken Williams got something of value in what was otherwise a massive salary dump.

Wed Jul 27 201112:08White Sox to acquire Stewart in Jackson deal
Mark Gonzalez of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Blue Jays will send right-hander Zach Stewart to the White Sox along with Jason Frasor in the trade for Edwin Jackson and Mark Teahen.
This deal is essentially a salary dump for the White Sox, but Stewart certainly has value. The 24-year-old right-hander made his major league debut last month and has a 4.20 ERA and 74/24 K/BB ratio over 16 starts with Double-A New Hampshire this season. He could be a potential set-up man or closer if he doesn't make it as a starter.

Blue Jays optioned RHP Zach Stewart to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Mon Jun 27 201121:14Zach Stewart quality in no-decision
Zach Stewart scattered two runs on nine hits over six innings of work in Toronto's 4-2 loss to the Tigers on Monday.
Stewart struck out four and walked one, taking a no-decision. Stewart fared much better tonight than he did against the Braves last week, and has now turned in quality starts in two of his first three big-league outings. He's a low-risk flier in AL-only leagues.

Thu Jun 16 201115:28Zach Stewart goes seven in debut
Zach Stewart took a no-decision after allowing two runs over seven innings in his major league debut against the Orioles.
With Jesse Litsch due back at the end of the month, it was a surprise the Jays didn't just go for a stopgap in replacing Kyle Drabek in the rotation. Stewart probably wouldn't have been called of if he wasn't going to get a chance to stick around. He made a nice first impression today, holding the Orioles scoreless until the sixth. He's not a great bet in AL-only leagues, but he is worth keeping an eye on.

Tue Jun 14 201114:50Jays add right-hander Zach Stewart
Blue Jays purchased the contract of RHP Zach Stewart from Double-A New Hampshire.
Stewart, 24, has registered a 4.39 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in 12 starts this season at the Double-A level. He doesn't have a great strikeout rate either and can be avoided for fantasy purposes. The Jays will likely send him back down once right-hander Kyle Drabek gets his act together at Triple-A.

Fri Feb 25 201103:36Zach Stewart masterful in spring debut
Zach Stewart hurled two perfect innings in the Blue Jays' first spring intra-squad game.
Competing for the last rotation spot, Stewart induced four ground ball outs and struck out both Jose Bautista and Adam Lind. In all, he threw 18 of his 25 pitches for strikes. A lot can happen between now and late March, but this was the best debut Stewart could have hoped for.
