LHP Roenis Elias moved his rehab assignment to Triple-A Pawtucket on Thursday, and he allowed three runs in 3 1/3 innings. Elias, out all season with a right oblique strain, has made four rehab outings for four different Red Sox farm clubs.

RHP Michael Feliz, who had been in the Houston bullpen all season, was optioned to Double-A Corpus Christi on Thursday. He was 4-2 with a 4.84 ERA in 41 appearances for the Astros this season. Feliz was hit hard by the Phillies on Wednesday, allowing six runs on eight hits in two innings.

INF/OF Ryan Flaherty (right shoulder strain) began a rehab assignment with Double-A Bowie on Thursday. He went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. He has been sidelined since May 19.

CF Jarrod Dyson is expected to return to the lineup Friday for the series opener against the Mets. He has been out since hyperextending his left big toe when running into the center field fence Saturday.

RHP Jarred Cosart was transferred from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. He underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow earlier this month and will not pitch again this season. Cosart was placed on the 10-day DL on June 6. In seven games (six starts) this season for the Padres, Cosart went 0-2 with a 4.88 ERA.

C Austin Hedges, who has been on the concussion disabled list since July 12, caught a bullpen Thursday and is scheduled to catch five to seven innings in the Arizona Rookie League on Friday. "We'll give him one quick game down there to make sure he feels good," manager Andy Green said. "If he checks that box, we'll probably have him back up here with us on Saturday to take batting practice and activate him on Sunday. If anything gives us pause, we'll probably wait to the Twins series (next Tuesday and Wednesday) to activate him."

INF Yangervis Solarte began what could be a short but interesting rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso on Thursday night. The switch-hitting Solarte, who has been sidelined since June 21 with a strained left oblique muscle, is expected to play second Thursday night. But the plan is for him to start at shortstop Friday night. Solarte has played in three games at short as a Padre and it is far from his best position. Solarte was hitting .268 with 10 doubles, 10 homers and 40 RBIs in 70 games when he was injured.

SS Asdrubal Cabrera recorded hits in all four games of the series and was 2-for-4 with a walk Thursday night. He was 7-for-16 with three doubles and three runs scored.

OF Willy Garcia was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday and hit his second home run of the season in a 6-3 loss against the Chicago Cubs. This marks Garcia's third stint with the White Sox this year. He is hitting .261 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 36 games.

OF Avisail Garcia was placed on the 10-day disabled list retroactive to July 26 because of a sprained right thumb. Garcia is expected to miss several weeks because of the injury. The lone All-Star selection this season for the White Sox, Garcia is hitting .303 with 13 home runs and 54 RBIs in 88 games.

1B Jose Abreu homered twice in a losing effort Thursday night against the Chicago Cubs. The performance marked Abreu's eighth career multiple-homer game and gave him 18 home runs on the season. Four of Abreu's past five home runs have come at home.

RHP Mike Pelfrey (3-8) allowed five runs to match a season high in a 6-3 loss against the Cubs on Thursday night. Pelfrey dropped to 0-3 with a 6.18 ERA in his past six starts. He said after the game that he was disappointed he lasted just five-plus innings. "Obviously, I'd like to go a lot deeper," Pelfrey said. "It's been kind of a concern all year."

3B Kris Bryant endured a rare slump in an otherwise positive series for the Cubs against the White Sox. Bryant went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts Thursday night but salvaged an RBI on a sacrifice fly. He finished 2-for-15 (.133) with eight strikeouts in four games against the White Sox this season.

1B Anthony Rizzo slammed his team-leading 24th home run on Thursday night in a 6-3 win over the White Sox. Rizzo turned on a pitch high in the strike zone and launched a towering home run an estimated 432 feet into the right field bleachers. He is hitting .261 with 24 homers and 67 RBIs in 100 games.

OF Kyle Schwarber had one of his best performances of the season on Thursday night in a 6-3 win over the White Sox. Schwarber finished 3-for-4 with a triple, two home runs and four RBIs. Manager Joe Maddon said the game is slowing down for Schwarber, who has regained confidence since a stint in Triple-A Iowa earlier this season. Since being recalled, Schwarber is hitting .280 (14-for-50) with five home runs and eight RBIs in 15 games.
