2B DJ LeMahieu broke up Jhoulys Chacin's no-hit bid in the sixth inning Saturday. No surprise it was LeMahieu that came through as he is a career .464 hitter against the Padres.

RHP Shawn Kelley (right forearm) is scheduled to undergo what manager Dusty Baker called "extensive testing" early next week. Baker said Kelley, who left Friday's game after recording one out in the eighth inning when his right arm went numb and his hand swelled up after delivering a pitch to Mets CF Juan Lagares, is dealing with inflammation and nerve issues in his arm, though the testing will determine exactly where the problem is located. Kelley also battled a similar injury during the playoffs last season. Kelley, who missed two months earlier this season because of a back injury, is 3-2 with a 7.27 ERA and four saves in 33 games this year.

LHP Carlos Rodon, who will not pitch for the rest of the season after experiencing shoulder stiffness this month, said doctors still are trying to figure out his exact ailment. Rodon said he could not answer whether offseason shoulder surgery would be a possibility. Rodon went 2-5 with a 4.15 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 12 starts over 69 1/3 innings this season. "He continues to be a big part of what we view as the future of the organization," White Sox manager Rick Renteria said. "Unfortunately this year, he's been down quite a bit. So, assuming he comes back in a good situation and is healthy and is capable of going out and performing, he fits into one of the five guys who are going to be out there for us (in the starting rotation) next season."

1B Ryan Zimmerman (general soreness) sat out his second straight game Saturday, when the Nationals beat the Mets 4-3 in 10 innings. Manager Dusty Baker said Zimmerman is still feeling the effects of a head-first slide against the Atlanta Braves earlier this week. Baker added he expected Zimmerman to also miss Sunday's series finale in hopes of having him fully rested and healthy for the playoffs. Zimmerman is batting .302 with 34 homers and 103 RBIs in 138 games this season.

RF Max Kepler was taken out of the game after two innings Saturday night because he hurt his left hip on a first-inning single by Detroit DH Alex Presley. "He's okay," manager Paul Molitor said. "I just think he kind of took an awkward fall there. We're going to check him out again in the morning. I don't think it's anything major. Just that there was some discomfort when tried to swing down there in the runway. It was enough to where I thought to be cautious, go ahead and get him out." Kepler did not bat.

SS Jordy Mercer was 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored. That included a triple in the first that got behind St. Louis CF Dexter Fowler and was close to being an inside-the-park grand slam. "Definitely was thinking about it," Mercer said. "Didn't allow me to do that today, but it was a good day." It was Mercer's first multi-hit game since Aug. 28, when he also went 3-for-3. He is one RBI shy of his career high of 59 set last season.

3B Justin Turner was out of the lineup on Saturday night during a 2-1 loss to the visiting San Francisco Giants, the third straight game he has missed after suffering a thumb contusion when hit by a pitch on Thursday and then feeling the effects of a stomach virus the past two days.

CF Denard Span went 3-for-4 with an RBI in a 2-1 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night. Span was 6-for-32 (.188) in his previous 11 games.

OF Tyler Naquin took over in center field for Jason Kipnis on Saturday, his first start for Cleveland since Sept. 13. Naquin went 0-for-5 and saw his season average drop to .222. He moved to right field in the fifth inning.

RHP Felix Hernandez will likely start for the Mariners on Monday in Oakland, Seattle manager Scott Servais said. Hernandez is 5-5 with a 4.57 ERA in 80 2/3 innings this season. Since returning from bursitis in his pitching shoulder, Hernandez is 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA over seven innings in two starts.

RHP Brandon Finnegan, who has been on the disabled list since April 12, has been strengthening his injured shoulder and remains on track to begin a throwing program after Christmas in order to be ready for spring training. Finnegan went 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA in four starts before the injury.

RHP Wade Davis gave up two home runs, including the game-winning two-run shot by Travis Shaw and blew a save for the first time since Sept. 2, 2016 when he was a member of the Kansas City Royals. Davis had converted 32 consecutive save opportunities before Saturday.

LHP Danny Duffy pitched six-plus innings to earn the victory and improve to 9-9, scattering two runs, eight hits, two strikeouts and two walks. "Just a great job by Danny," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "He had it all working."

1B Eric Hosmer is batting .338 (166-for-490) in 131 road games since May 1. He is hitting .326 (100-for-306) on the road this season.

3B Nolan Arenado smacked his 35th home run Friday, giving him 18 on the road and 17 at Coors Field. Arenado is tied with Charlie Blackmon for the team lead in homers.

RHP Julio Teheran received no decision on Saturday. He pitched seven innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits and one walk, with five strikeouts. Over his last six starts, Teheran has not allowed more than three runs.

1B Miguel Cabrera was taken out of Saturday night's game after the first inning when his lower back tightened up again. He is doubtful to play Sunday. "He's probably going to get an MRI Sunday," manager Brad Ausmus said. "I'd be surprised if he plays, especially with the off-day following that." Cabrera blooped a single near the right field foul line but it appeared the injury happened when he stretch out in a vain attempt to catch 3B Jeimer Candelario's wild throw on a bunt single by 2B Brian Dozier leading off the game.

RF Hunter Renfroe needs one more home run to set the Padres' rookie mark. He shares the distinction now with Nate Colbert, who hit 24 in 1969, the Padres' first season. Padres rookies have hit 55 homers this season, breaking the team's single-season record set last year with 40.

2B Dee Gordon favored his right leg as he attempted to beat out a grounder in the fourth. Although Gordon limped on his way to the dugout, he remained in the game.
