Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of a doubleheader on Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Austin Meadows is serving as the designated hitter and batting third in Game 1 against Bucs left-hander Dillon Peters, while Robbie Grossman (hand) is back in right field and hitting leadoff. Cabrera, who already reached the milestone of 3,000 career hits this year, is batting .258 (17-for-66) with just one home run, seven RBI and seven runs scored in 19 games this season. Tue Sep 21 202108:02Miguel Cabrera Dealing With Back Tightness
Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera (back) was removed from Monday's game against the Chicago White Sox after experiencing back tightness. He went 0-for-2 with an RBI in the game before being replaced by Harold Castro. After the game, Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters that Cabrera's removal was precautionary and that he didn't believe the back injury was anything serious. The 38-year-old veteran has slashed .257/.318/.391 with 15 home runs, 71 RBI and 47 runs over 122 games this year. He should be considered day-to-day with a good chance of sitting out on Tuesday.

Fri Aug 20 202107:33Miguel Cabrera Drives In Four Runs In Thursday's Game
Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera may not have hit his 500th career home run in Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Angels, but he had a solid day at the plate nonetheless. Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI in the game. It was just his second multi-RBI game of the month and the double was his first extra-base hit since he blasted home run number 499 on August 11. After going deep in Wednesday's game, he is now at 499 career home runs. He doesn't have much value in any fantasy league, providing little power and an unspectacular batting average.

While the eventual Hall of Famer has carried many fantasy teams to glory during his 19-year career, he is best served on the waiver wire in all leagues. Since 2016, the 38-year-old hasn't hit more than 16 homers, 60 RBI, or a batting average over .300.

His current .408 xSLG is a career-low mark and it ranks in the 44th percentile of the league. He also ranks in the 22nd percentile in xBA (.229) and in the 29th percentile in xwOBA (.306). He's currently riding a five-game hitting streak that has risen his season-long batting average from .233 to .247. He may be turning a bit of a corner, but he can remain on waivers in all fantasy leagues at this point.

Wed Jul 28 202110:55Miguel Cabrera Gets Rest Day On Wednesday
Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera will get a day off during Wednesday's game versus the Minnesota Twins. He hit the go-ahead single in the 11th inning on Tuesday and has played in back-to-back contests. The Tigers will give their veteran slugger a much-deserved day off to rest. Eric Haase will bat cleanup and serve as the designated hitter versus lefty J.A. Happ. There is plenty of power in his bat as seen by his 17 home runs on the season. Haase could be a low-end streaming option against Happ who is posting an ERA over 6 this season.
