Tue May 12 201511:58Dunn could be in mix for save opportunities
Dunn could be in the mix for save opportunities, MLB.com reports.
Manager Mike Redmond noted that Dunn, A.J. Ramos and Bryan Morris would be the primary options to replace a struggling Steve Cishek. The lefty reliever is rounding into form after a shaky start, reeling off seven straight scoreless appearances. Dunn has experience stepping in on a limited basis when the team has needed a fill-in closer in the past, but Ramos has a higher ceiling in the role.

Dunn allowed two hits during a scoreless eighth in Thursday's blowout victory over the Phillies.
The scoreless inning was badly needed for Dunn who, along with much of the Marlins' bullpen, has scuffled to start the year. Over his previous two outings, Dunn had allowed five earned runs on four hits and two walks over 1.2 innings. For the season, he holds an ugly 7.71 ERA, but has only permitted one earned run outside of those two poor appearances and boasts a solid 8:2 K:BB ratio. The lefty has been a rock for the Marlins over the past several years and he should continue to shave down that ERA in the coming weeks.

Dunn tossed a scoreless inning Friday against the Braves, allowing one hit and one walk with two strikeouts.
After getting lit up for four earned runs in his previous appearance, the lefty settled down a bit as he continues to get ready for Opening Day. Dunn's spring numbers are tough to swallow, he's proven to a workhorse out the Miami bullpen while appearing in 75 games in each of the past two seasons. Dunn racked up 22 holds for the Marlins last season and is positioned once-again to perform well again as a late-inning left-hander to compliment setup man A.J. Ramos as the bridge to closer Steve Cishek.
Sun Feb 8 201523:50Dunn signed two-year
Dunn signed a two-year, $5.8 million contract to avoid arbitration, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.
Dunn was an effective reliever for Miami in 2013 and 2014, but his win total (10) last season was incredibly fluky, and he only has four career saves. While he doesn't appear to be next in line for saves in the event of a Steve Cishek injury, Dunn has shown an ability to retire both left-handed and right-handed batters. If the Miami bullpen is unusually injury-plagued, Dunn could thus be an option to close games.

Dunn retired the final better of Tuesday's 3-0 win against the Cardinals to earn his first save of the season.
Dunn struck out lefty Matt Adams to complete a combined shutout between starter Jarred Cozart and three Marlins relievers. The save comes on a rare night off for regular stopper Steve Cishek who had pitched in three of the previous four games. With Dunn coming in to retire the final batter, it's difficult to see this situation being much more than matchup-driven usage; Bryan Morris and A.J. Ramos remain well ahead of Dunn for save opportunities behind Cishek.

Dunn chipped in a scoreless seventh inning, allowing one hit with one strikeout, to help the Marlins past the Cardinals on Monday.
The lefty reliever has been solid since a minor blip back on July 22, allowing just one earned run in seven appearances since that date. His 17 holds on the year leads all Marlins relievers and ranks eighth among National League pitchers. For the year, Dunn has a 3.86 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 48:16 K:BB in 42 innings pitched.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports the Marlins could look to trade reliever Mike Dunn.
Dunn has a 3.38 ERA as a left-handed setup man with the Marlins and is currently part of a closer-by-committee with Steve Cishek. In addition to Dunn, Heyman notes that Astros reliever Wesley Wright and Cubs left-hander James Russell are also on the trade block.

Sun May 19 201316:33Michael Dunn records second career save
Michael Dunn nailed down his second career save in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.
Marlins manager Mike Redmond decided to pull closer Steve Cisherk and go to Dunn with two on and lefty Miguel Montero coming up. Dunn walked Montero but then got A.J. Pollock to ground out after running the count full. With Cishek's struggles against left-handers this year, it's possible Dunn could see the occasional save opportunity.

Dunn has posted a hideous 9.58 ERA in 10 1/3 innings of major-league relief this season. The Marlins will hope for better but seem doubtful to use the southpaw in many high-leverage situations early on.

Marlins recalled LHP Mike Dunn from Triple-A New Orleans.
Dunn was exiled to NOLA in late-April after posting a 9.53 ERA with the Fish. When he's on, however, he is arguably Miami's most talented reliever. With the struggles of Heath Bell, the club could use a live arm in the late innings. Over the previous two seasons with the Braves and Marlins, Dunn posted an ERA+ of 128 in 97 relief appearances.

Tue Nov 16 201017:47Marlins acquire Mike Dunn in Uggla deal
Marlins acquired LHP Mike Dunn and INF Omar Infante from the Braves for 2B Dan Uggla.
Dunn, 25, posted a 1.52 ERA and averaged 12.2 K/9 in 38 appearances with Triple-A Gwinnett this past season, but he also averaged 4.8 BB/9. His control was even less impressive after joining the Braves. Despite a 1.89 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 19 innings, he also walked 17. There's obviously potential here, but he shouldn't be a major piece of a trade for a player like Dan Uggla.

Dunn, 25, will replace southpaw Eric O'Flaherty on the 25-man roster. Acquired from the Yankees in the Javier Vazquez trade, Dunn has a real future in the big leagues.
Sat Apr 17 201019:53Dunn shipped to Triple-A after one day
Braves optioned LHP Mike Dunn to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Hard not to feel a little sorry for Dunn, whose stay in the majors lasted all of one day. The Braves felt they needed a pitcher more suited to long relief, so Dunn had to go. The promising 24-year-old left-hander had a 2.25 ERA in 20 innings last season with the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate. He was acquired in the Javier Vazquez trade and has a future in the bigs as a left specialist.

Braves recalled LHP Mike Dunn from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Dunn, 24, is a promising left-hander and should do well as a fill-in for the injured Jo-Jo Reyes. He had a 2.25 ERA in 20 innings last season with the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate and was dealt to Atlanta this offseason in the Javier Vazquez trade. He'll serve as a lefty specialist in the bigs.
