Thu Apr 28 202212:01Charlie Morton Pulled In The Third Inning Wednesday
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton continued to struggle Wednesday, giving up three runs over just 2 1/3 innings pitched. Command was a problem again, as he issued four walks to just one strikeout. Morton is now 1-2 with 11 walks, 15 strikeouts, three home runs allowed and a 7.00 ERA over 18 innings and three starts. Last season was a completely different story, when he went 14-6 with a 3.34 ERA, 3.18 FIP and 1.04 WHIP. However, the two-time All-Star didn't start 2021 on the right foot either, producing a 4.76 ERA over the first month. Fantasy managers should trust that Morton can turn things around. His next start should come on Monday against the New York Mets.

Sat Mar 26 202210:57Charlie Morton To Start Sunday Against Rays
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton (leg) will make his Grapefruit League debut on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Morton fractured his fibula in November in Game 1 of the World Series when he was hit in the leg by a comebacker. The 38-year-old veteran right-hander had a nice 3.34 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 216 strikeouts in 185 2/3 innings over 33 starts in his first year in Atlanta in 2021. Morton had surgery to fix his broken leg and should have enough time to be ready to rejoin the team's starting rotation to open the 2022 season, although he'll likely be on a short leash in the first month of the season.

Sun Feb 20 202207:00Charlie Morton "Mostly Caught Up" At This Point In February
Atlanta Braves pitcher Charlie Morton (leg) said he is "mostly caught up" to where he would usually be at this point of February. The 38-year-old underwent surgery on October 28 after breaking his leg in Game 1 of the 2021 World Series against the Houston Astros. He also mentions that he wouldn't know more until he gets into the rigors of spring training. In September, the veteran right-hander was rewarded with a one-year, $20 million extension after posting a 14-6 record, 3.34 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and a 216:58 K: BB over 185 2/3 innings in 2021. Morton, when fully healthy, is expected to lead the Braves' starting rotation and is being drafted among the top-30 starters with an ADP of 92.

Wed Oct 27 202112:54Charlie Morton Fractures His Leg In Game 1 Win
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton (leg) suffered a fractured right fibula in the team's Game 1 win over the Houston Astros in the World Series on Tuesday night. Morton will obviously miss the rest of the World Series, but he's expected to be ready for spring training next season. The veteran right-hander suffered the fracture on a 102.4 mph Yuli Gurriel comebacker in the second inning. Kyle Wright, who made 24 starts at Triple-A Gwinnett this year, was included on the World Series roster and could be asked to step up and make a start later in the series with Morton now out. Potential roster replacements include Kyle Muller, Touki Toussaint and Tucker Davidson. Lefty Drew Smyly is also an option to start later in the series. Reliever A.J. Minter relieved Morton on Tuesday and tossed a career-high 43 pitches.

Mon Oct 25 202101:34Charlie Morton To Start Against Astros In Game 1
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton will start in Game 1 of the World Series in Houston on Tuesday against his former team, the Houston Astros. Morton pitched for Houston in both 2017 and 2018 and earned the win for the Astros in Game 7 of the 2017 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers by tossing the final four innings. The veteran right-hander also faced the Astros in the 2019 Division Series and the 2020 American League Championship Series. Morton has pitched well in three starts for Atlanta this postseason, posting a 3.77 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings, but the Astros will be a tough task on the road. It will be the third time in the last five years that Morton has pitched in the World Series, each time for a different team.

Tue Oct 12 202113:13Braves Going With Charlie Morton In Game 4
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton will start Game 4 of the NLDS against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday. The veteran right-hander will be pitching on short rest. He started Game 1 of the series this past Friday. He pitched well in the contest, despite earning a loss. He went six innings and allowed three hits, one walk and two earned runs while recording nine strikeouts. The Braves didn't have many other enticing options for Game 4. Drew Smyly and Huascar Ynoa would have been risky to throw out there. Even on short rest, Morton seems like the most logical choice. Expect to see Max Fried go on short rest for Game 5 if the game is necessary. If not, Fried will be the starter for Game 1 of the NLCS.

Wed Sep 29 202100:31Charlie Morton Strikes Out 10 In Victory
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton was nearly unhittable during Tuesday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. He went seven scoreless innings, three hits allowed, and 10 strikeouts in the 2-1 win. This series is important for both teams and Morton came out looking like an ace pitcher. As always, the Braves didn't give Morton much run support. Luckily, it didn't matter as he was able to help his team get the victory.

Tue Sep 28 202122:22Charlie Morton Dominates On Tuesday
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton struck out 10 batters across seven innings during a 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday. The 37-year-old was brilliant, allowing just three hits and two walks over 101 pitches during the quality start. The two-time All-Star is now 14-6 with a 3.39 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 213 strikeouts across 183 innings pitched. Morton lines up for one more start this season against the New York Mets on Sunday. However, the Braves could elect to have the right-hander's next start be in the playoffs. With Morton being extended through the 2022 season, he will surely be a sturdy option in redraft leagues next season.

Fri Sep 24 202100:15Charlie Morton Strikes Out Eight In Loss
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton has unfortunately not received much run support whenever he is on the mound. He's gotten a no-decision or a loss in nine of his 18 quality starts. On Thursday, Morton went six innings, five hits allowed, three earned runs, two walks, and eight strikeouts in the 6-4 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Morton exited after giving up one run, but left two base runners on that eventually scored and were charged to him. Despite having some tough luck, Morton is posting a 3.53 ERA and is a solid streaming option and DFS choice whenever he takes the mound.

Sat Sep 11 202122:55Charlie Morton Tosses Quality Start Versus Marlins
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton continued his solid season during Saturday's game against the Miami Marlins. He went seven innings, six hits allowed, three earned runs, and seven strikeouts in the 6-4 loss. Sadly, the Braves bullpen struggled late in the game and blew it. Despite that, Morton looked sharp and showed he is well deserving of the $20 million extension he signed earlier in the week. Fantasy managers should continue to ride with the veteran right-hander.

Wed Sep 8 202110:21Charlie Morton Signs Extension With Braves
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton has signed a one-year extension with the organization. There was some speculation that Morton would retire this offseason, but he received a significant offer from Atlanta. The veteran right-hander will receive a one-year extension worth $20 million, which includes a club option for the 2023 season. The 37-year-old has a 3.47 ERA through 158 innings and 28 starts with the Braves this season. He has been an excellent fantasy option all season long and should remain a top tier pitching option next season.

Wed Sep 1 202110:58Charlie Morton Pitches Excellent Against Dodgers
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton looked much better on the mound on Tuesday. He went six innings, three hits allowed, one earned run, two walks, and eight strikeouts in the 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Morton deserved much better than a tough luck no-decision. His only big mistake was a solo home run by Mookie Betts. Nonetheless, he'll take a 3.52 ERA into his next outing versus the Colorado Rockies. On paper, it's a favorable matchup for Morton, but pitching in Colorado is never easy.

Wed Aug 25 202101:27Charlie Morton Allows Four Runs Versus Yankees
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton didn't have his best outing of the season versus the New York Yankees on Tuesday. He went five innings, six hits allowed, four earned runs, zero walks, and nine strikeouts in the 5-4 loss. Surprisingly, this was the first time since June of 2019 that Morton has allowed more than one home run in a single game. Despite his less than stellar outing, Morton has a 3.06 ERA over his last nine starts. He'll get a tough matchup versus the Los Angeles Dodgers his next time out.

Thu Aug 19 202111:35Charlie Morton Strikes Out Nine In Victory
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton has been the ace of this rotation and continued to show why on Wednesday. He went six innings, three hits allowed, two earned runs, one walk, and nine strikeouts in the 11-9 win against the Miami Marlins. Morton has tossed four straight quality starts as he improve to 12-4 with 3.47 ERA on the season. It's worth noting that Morton is red-hot right now with quality starts in seven of his last eight outings. He'll be a strong fantasy option every time he takes the mound.

Mon Aug 2 202111:10Charlie Morton Gets Tough Luck Loss
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton was solid on the mound, but was saddled with the loss on Sunday. He went six innings, three hits allowed, two earned runs, and six strikeouts in the 2-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. The Braves offense didn't help Morton, but at least fantasy managers got a solid outing from him. Morton has posted a 3.69 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 140/42 K/BB ratio over 22 starts this season. He'll take that into his next matchup versus the Washington Nationals, which is a favorable one for Morton.

Wed Jul 28 202110:14Charlie Morton Gets The Job Done On Tuesday
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton wasn't perfect on Tuesday, but did his job versus the New York Mets. He went five innings, five hits allowed, three earned runs, two walks, and five strikeouts in the 12-5 victory. The Braves gave Morton plenty of early run support, so he didn't need to be perfect. He has been excellent throughout most of the season and should be rostered in all fantasy formats. Morton will have a home matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.
