RHP Andrew Moore was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to make his second major league start Monday against Kansas City. Moore went eight innings, allowing three runs on five hits. He didn't walk a batter and struck out four. "For his second major league start, Moore was very impressive," Mariners manager Scott Servais said. "He made some good in-game adjustments." Moore has faced 55 batters in two starts without a walk to begin his career, a franchise record.

RHP Andrew Moore, who won his major league debut Thursday against Detroit, was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Friday when the Mariners activated RHP Felix Hernandez from the disabled list. C Adam Moore's contract was purchased from Triple-A Columbus. The addition of Moore gives the Indians three catchers on their roster. The other two, Chris Gimenez and Roberto Perez, have both struggled offensively but manager Terry Francona says that doesn't necessarily mean he will pinch hit more frequently for his catchers. "I have to be cognizant of the fact that if the starting pitcher is pitching well, I don't want to take his catcher away," Francona said.

Moore spent most of 2014 in Triple-A, slashing .298/.360/.484 in 312 games. His deal includes an invite to spring training, so he could work his way onto the major league roster for the Indians in 2015.

Moore refused his outright assignment by the Padres on Monday and will become a free agent, SB Nation's Chris Cotillo reports.

He played nine games with the Padres last season, and in 91 games at Triple-A he slashed .298/.360/.484. He will now look to offer another organization some depth at catcher on the free agent market.

Moore will catch and bat seventh Wednesday against the Rockies.

Since his Sept. 2 call-up, Moore has logged just seven pinch-hit at-bats, notching one hit while striking out four times. The 30-year-old will step in Wednesday for his first start with San Diego, after batting .298/.360/.484 with 12 homers in 91 games with Triple-A El Paso.

Moore has tallied a hit in nine of the past 10 games with Triple-A El Paso, batting .368 (14-for-38) with one home run, six RBI, six runs scored, and two walks versus seven strikeouts.

The run has bumped up Moore's line on the season to .296/.361/.485 in 297 at-bats. No matter, the injury-plagued catcher has logged his most time since 2010, as he sits at 89 games played during the final week of El Paso's regular season.

Adam Moore has decided not to exercise the opt-out clause in his contract.

He did, however, agree to a new rolling opt-out that will allow him to leave at any time should a major league opportunity arise. Moore is hitting .357/.410/.527 with four homers over 32 games at Triple-A El Paso.

Padres acquired C Adam Moore from the Royals for cash considerations.
