Ivan DeJesus Jr. is scheduled to take ground balls Wednesday for the first time since straining his left oblique muscle on March 17.
DeJesus is making progress, but he's unlikely to be a realistic option for the Opening Day roster at this point. The 24-year-old infielder batted .188 (6-for-32) in 17 games with the Dodgers last season.

An MRI taken this week on Ivan DeJesus' sore left side revealed a torn oblique muscle.
DeJesus could be out for a month or longer if the tear is severe. The 24-year-old infielder batted .188/.235/.188 in 35 plate appearances last year in the majors.

He's batted just .194/.242/.194 over 34 plate appearances in two stints with the Dodgers this season but has fared a little better at Triple-A, posting a .268/.337/.305 line. He'll provide middle infield depth with Rafael Furcal landing on the DL.

Dodgers recalled INF Ivan DeJesus Jr. from Triple-A Albuquerque.
DeJesus was just sent to the minors last week, but is eligible to return after the injury to Rafael Furcal. The 23-year-old is unlikely to draw many starts unless Casey Blake continues to break down physically, pushing Juan Uribe over to third and opening the door at second base.

The Dodgers will recall Ivan DeJesus Jr. on Tuesday to take Rafael Furcal's roster spot.
Furcal suffered a broken left thumb during Monday's game and will head to the disabled list for at least a month. DeJesus was 0-for-7 with the Dodgers earlier this season. He's expected to play second base while Jamey Carroll mans shortstop in Furcal's absence.
