"Their hitters were aggressive the whole series and we did a pretty good job of using that aggressiveness, not just to get strikeouts, but to get quick outs," said Kluber. "He's one of the best in baseball, and that may have been the best I've seen him," Toronto manager John Gibbons said. In 10 starts since coming off the disabled list, Kluber is 5-1, with a 1.52 ERA, while averaging 13.7 strikeouts per nine innings and holding opposing teams to a .163 batting average. "It's nice to put his name in there every fifth day," said Indians manager Terry Francona.

RHP Corey Kluber (sore neck) will not make his scheduled start Friday against Toronto, Indians manager Terry Francona announced Wednesday. The move is precautionary, and was made in part because RHP Trevor Bauer and RHP Danny Salazar will be fully rested and able to go Friday and Saturday against the Blue Jays. Francona said RHP Josh Tomlin is another option for Sunday if Kluber's neck pain, which cropped up in his last start against Oakland, continues to be an issue.

RHP Corey Kluber might get pushed back or even skipped in the rotation because of a sore neck, Indians manager Terry Francona announced Tuesday. Kluber has been scheduled for a bullpen session Wednesday, at which point the Indians are expected to determine whether he will make his next scheduled start, which has been slated for the opener of a seven-game homestand Friday against Toronto. If Kluber cannot go against the Blue Jays, Francona said RHP Danny Salazar would be reinstated from the disabled list to make the start.

RHP Corey Kluber, who was selected to the All-Star team, will pitch Sunday night in the Indians' final game before the break, but will not pitch in the All-Star game Tuesday. "When you look at his workload the last two years, the fact that he missed a month this year with a back strain, and because we're playing Sunday night, he won't arrive in Miami until four o'clock Monday morning, we just felt it made sense for him not to pitch," Indians president Chris Antonetti said.
