Fri Mar 27 201510:30Perez optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday
Perez was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports.
With Eric Young Jr. slated to serve as the Opening Day center fielder for the Braves, Perez had hoped to come away with at least a reserve role, but it appears those duties will instead go to Todd Cunningham. The 24-year-old Perez has shown some speed and an ability to hit for average throughout his various stops in the minors, and should those trends continue with Gwinnett, he could become an outfield option for the Braves before long.
Thu Mar 12 201519:32Perez's teammate
Perez's teammate, Eric Young Jr., has emerged as the leading candidate for the Braves' Opening Day center field job, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. "If we had to break camp tomorrow, I would be comfortable running [Young] out there in center field," manager Fredi Gonzalez said Wednesday. "We still have a lot more games to be be played, he's still got a lot more work to be done with (coach) Bo (Porter) clean him up a little bit. But he's got the athletic ability and he seems fearless, which is hard to teach. He'll go after balls and leave his feet to catch them. Those are all good qualities."
Perez is still technically in the mix, as is Toddy Cunningham, but it's sounding as though Young has a fairly firm leg up in the competition as of now. Young has provided quality defense in center and has been able to get on base (.400 OBP) and make an impact on the basepaths (three steals) in five spring games. Perez, a waiver acquisition from the Yankees in January, has gotten off to a nice start with his new club as well, going 4-for-13 (.308 average) with two walks and two steals in five games.

Perez is expected to see a lot of work in center field this spring with Melvin Upton Jr. (foot) out of action, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Upton is expected to miss at least the first month of the regular season with inflammation in his left foot, and Perez is among the top replacement candidates. Designated for assignment by the Yankees following the Stephen Drew signing, Perez never received an extended opportunity in the majors while with New York, logging a mere 23 plate appearances in parts of three seasons. The 24-year-old has, however, impressed in 193 games at the Triple-A level, batting .310 with a .354 OBP and 63 steals in 79 attempts. Perez seems like the early favorite to be the Braves' Opening Day center fielder, but Eric Young Jr., Todd Cunningham and even Zoilo Almonte will be considered.
Fri Jan 23 201516:11Perez claimed off waivers by Braves on Friday
Perez was claimed off waivers by the Braves on Friday, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports.
Perez, who spent his first eight professional seasons in the Nationals' organization, will join Atlanta in hopes of carving out a role on the major league roster during spring training. He was designated for assignment by the Yankees last week. Although the 24-year-old Perez has struggled in a couple of brief stints at the highest level, he has plenty of speed and has shown an ability to hit for average (.310) and get on base (.354) in parts of three seasons at Triple-A.
Fri Jan 16 201511:07The Yankees designated Perez for assignment on Friday
The Yankees designated Perez for assignment on Friday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
Perez was removed from the 40-man roster to open up a spot for Stephen Drew. He could garner some interest on the waiver wire as a 24-year old who was successful on 26 of his 30 stolen base attempts in the minors last season.
Mon Sep 22 201414:21Perez claimed off waivers by Yankees on Monday
Perez was claimed off waivers by the Yankees on Monday, the New York Post's Joel Sherman reports.
The Nationals designated Perez for assignment Thursday, but the Yankees scooped him up in the waiver process, and he will now join New York for the final week of the season. Don't look for Perez to see significant action this week, as he'll be behind Brett Gardner, Ichiro Suzuki and presumably Chris Young on the outfield depth chart.
Thu Sep 18 201414:10The Nationals designated Perez for assignment Thursday
The Nationals designated Perez for assignment Thursday, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports.
A toe injury cost Perez more than two months of the season, but he turned in an impressive .311/.372/.406 batting line with 20 steals in his 57 games with Triple-A Syracuse. Still just 24 years old, Perez simply was not a factor in the Nats' current or future plans, but he figures to draw significant interest while on waivers.

Mon Mar 17 201410:14Nationals make six cuts Monday
Nationals optioned OFs Eury Perez and Steven Souza to Triple-A Syracuse and LHP Sammy Solis to Double-A Harrisburg; reassigned INF Mike Fontenot, OF Brian Goodwin and C Koyie Hill to minor league camp.
There are no surprises in this group. Solis could be an option for the Nats eventually as a reliever, though they'll surely want him working as a starter in the minors.

Tue Sep 3 201316:46Nats recall Perez, Brown, Cedeno and Kobernus
Nationals recalled OFs Eury Perez and Corey Brown, LHP Xavier Cedeno and UTIL Jeff Kobernus from Triple-A Syracuse.
Perez, a 22-year-old speedster, went 0-for-5 in five games during his brief stint with the big club earlier this year. He and Brown will join Scott Hairston as depth behind Bryce Harper, Denard Span and Jayson Werth. The 25-year-old Kobernus provides the Nationals with versatility on the bench with his ability to play up to six different positions. Like Perez, Kobernus possesses great speed and could potentially provide a few steals down the stretch in NL-only formats. Cedeno should be the left-handed side of a mopup platoon at the end of the bullpen with righty Tanner Roark.

Perez will provide outfield depth with Jayson Werth (hamstring) on the disabled list. He's hitting .346/.352/.439 with seven stolen bases through his first 23 games at the Triple-A level, but isn't likely to make an impact during his callup with the Nationals.

Fri May 10 201322:15Eury Perez expected to be recalled by Nats
Eury Perez is expected to be recalled by the Nationals when Jayson Werth is officially placed on the disabled list.
Perez impressed the Nationals' management with a strong showing in the Grapefruit League, and that success has carried over to Triple-A Syracuse. He's hitting .346/.352/.439 with a homer, six RBI and seven stolen bases through his first 23 games. With Werth's stint on the DL only expected to last a week or so, Perez may not have much time to make an impact with the big club.

Fri Nov 18 201121:13Nats add OF Perez to 40-man roster

Perez, 21, has a .303/.370/.378 batting line over parts of five seasons in the minors. The speedy outfielder has stolen 109 bases over the past two seasons, but has nothing in the way of power and his plate discipline has eroded since being promoted from the Gulf Coast League.
