Fri Jul 30 202111:51Tigers Expected To Hold Onto Jonathan Schoop
Detroit Tigers second baseman Jonathan Schoop is unlikely to be moved before the July 30 trade deadline. The interest in Schoop has been limited enough that the Tigers don't believe it's worth it to deal him. Schoop is making $4.5 million this season and has put up a .791 OPS with 17 home runs and 61 RBI. There isn't a huge trade market for second basemen and many contenders have already acquired one. It sounds like the Tigers will hold onto Schoop through the rest of the season.

Fri Jul 30 202111:14Jonathan Schoop Doubles And Scores Twice On Thursday
Detroit Tigers second baseman Jonathan Schoop returned to the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. He was a late scratch from Wednesday's game due to back tightness, but was able to give it a go on Thursday. In Thursday's game, Schoop went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. He is now slashing .286/.327/.464 with 17 home runs, 61 RBI and 56 runs over 100 games on the year. He ranks in the 99th percentile in the league in max exit velocity (117.1 mph). His current hard-hit rate (40.1%) is the highest it's been since 2015 (40.8%). Keep getting him in your lineup as he has continued to produce strong, consistent numbers since the middle of May.

Wed Jul 28 202112:20Jonathan Schoop Scratched Due To Back Tightness
Detroit Tigers second baseman Jonathan Schoop (back) was scratched from Wednesday's lineup due to back tightness and not anything related to a trade. Schoop was originally set to bat second and start at first base against the Minnesota Twins and left-hander J.A. Happ. Instead, Harold Castro will start at first base and hit eighth for the Tigers. If you're looking for a last-minute streaming option, you're probably better off looking elsewhere. Castro is hitting .284 with a .330 on-base percentage and a home run in 201 plate appearances this season.

Sun Jul 18 202101:01Shooting outside Nationals Park halts Padres-Washington game
WASHINGTON (AP) — The game between the San Diego Padres and Washington was suspended in the sixth inning Saturday night after police said there was a shooting outside Nationals Park. The shooting, an exchange of gunfire between people in two cars, left three people injured, according to Ashan Benedict, the Metropolitan Police Department’s executive assistant police chief. One of the people who was shot was a woman who was attending the game and who was struck while she was outside the stadium, he said. Her injuries weren’t considered life-threatening. Two people who were in one of the cars later walked into a local hospital with gunshot wounds and were being questioned by investigators, Benedict said, and the extent of their injuries wasn’t immediately clear. WASHINGTON (AP) — Trea Turner completed his record-tying third career cycle by hitting a sixth-inning triple for the Washington Nationals on Wednesday, accomplishing the feat on his 28th birthday in a 15-6 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. The speedy shortstop became the fifth player in major league history with three cycles, joining Adrian Beltre, Babe Herman, Bob Meusel and John Reilly, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. He also scored four times in the victory, which sealed a two-game sweep as well as Washington’s fourth straight win and 14th in its last 17 games. Turner singled in the first off Tampa Bay opener Drew Rasmussen, doubled in the third against Ryan Sherriff (0-1), then hit his 14th homer in the fourth off Michael Wacha. Two innings later, Turner hit a ball into the right-field corner and beat second baseman Mike Brosseau's throw to third with a headfirst slide. Jon Lester (2-3) allowed five runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out three and walking two. ANGELS... [More]
