OF Odubel Herrera snapped three streaks Sunday. The center fielder saw an 11-game hitting streak, seven-game streak of scoring at least one run and a 21-game streak of reaching base all come to a halt.

CF Odubel Herrera went 2-for-4 with a walk in Friday's victory over Cleveland, extending his hitting streak to 10 games and his on-base streak to a career-best 20 games. Herrera, who began the night first in the National League in pitches per plate appearance (4.85), second in walks (22) and fourth in on-base percentage (.453), was elevated to the leadoff spot eight games ago. The Phillies have won seven of those.

OF Odubel Herrera entered Thursday with 21 walks, second in the majors to Paul Goldschmidt (23) of the Arizona Diamondbacks. He walked in the first inning to extend his streak of reaching base to 19 games in a row -- a personal best. He was called out at second on a steal in the first after a video review but singled to start the ninth and quick start a three-run rally.

OF Odubel Herrera had reached base 18 games in a row to tie a personal best. He had a single in the sixth inning Wednesday to extend the streak, then walked in the seventh and ninth. He has been batting leadoff for about the last week. "I like batting leadoff. It gives me a sense of responsibility," he said through a translator. He entered Wednesday leading the majors in pitches per plate appearance at 4.87

CF Odubel Herrera extended his hitting streak to six games and his on-base streak to 16 games by going 1-for-3 with an RBI Sunday at Milwaukee. It is the second-longest such streak of his career.

CF Odubel Herrera went 3-for-4 with a home run and four runs scored Saturday at Milwaukee, extending his on-base streak to 15 games. Herrera also drew two walks, increasing his total to 17 this season, and stole two bases for the second time in his career.

CF Odubel Herrera went 1-for-3 with a walk Monday in the Phillies' loss to the Mets. He has 13 walks in 57 plate appearances this season. Eight have come in the last four games, and his streak of five games with at least one walk is the longest of his career. He walked just 28 times in 537 plate appearances as a rookie last season. "It's hard to figure," manager Pete Mackanin said. "A guy I consider a free swinger has shown a lot of good plate discipline. ... He's a winning player." Mackanin, however, is hesitant to make Herrera his leadoff hitter. "We need hitters in the middle of the order," he said. "We need hitters up and down the lineup. We just need more offense. It's as simple as that."

OF Odubel Herrera was issued his 11th walk Saturday night. The former Rule 5 pick didn't walk until his 324th plate appearance last season.

OF Odubel Herrera entered play Friday leading the league with 237 pitches seen through 11 games. His 5.27 pitches per plate appearance also led all hitters.

CF Odubel Herrera drew three walks against the Padres on Thursday, giving him eight free passes over the first 10 games of the season. That is a huge improvement from last year for the 24-year-old, when he walked just 28 times and struck out 129 times in his rookie season.

CF Odubel Herrera went 1-for-4 Wednesday against the Padres, scoring a run after legging out an infield hit in the third inning and continuing to second on an errant throw by San Diego 2B Cory Spangenberg. It was the fourth straight day Herrera sparked the offense. On Tuesday, he contributed an RBI triple in a 3-0 victory over the Padres, and on Monday he drove in a run with an opposite-field single on an 0-2 pitch. He also hit a two-run homer on Sunday off the Mets' Matt Harvey. "He's obviously an unorthodox hitter," Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said of Herrera. "Mechanics are important, but having the ability to put the barrel of the bat on the ball and stay on the ball is probably the most important thing. ... It's hard to pitch around Herrera, because he'll hit good pitches, he'll hit bad pitches. You can teach certain fundamentals about hitting, but to me it's like teaching somebody how to ride a bike or ice skate. You have to learn on your own."

CF Odubel Herrera went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Monday's loss to the Padres. The lefty-hitting Herrera, batting just .182 entering the game, slapped an 0-2 fastball the opposite way for a run-scoring single in the fourth inning. Almost as impressive to manager Pete Mackanin was his running catch on Jon Jay's shot to the wall in the eighth inning. Herrera, a converted infielder, had been shaky in the outfield early last season, but Mackanin has often praised him for the extra defensive work he has put in.

CF Odubel Herrera hit his first homer of the season Sunday, a two-run shot in the sixth inning of the Phillies' 5-2 win over the Mets. The homer gave the Phillies a 3-0 lead and provided valuable insurance for RHP Jeremy Hellickson, who gave up a two-run homer to Mets CF Yoenis Cespedes in the bottom of the sixth. Herrera is batting .182 with three RBIs in six games this season.

Herrera is out of the lineup Sunday against the Marlins.

Herrera will end the season on the Phillies' bench for each of the last two games, but that shouldn't put a damper on what has been an excellent debut year for the Rule 5 selection. Over 535 plate appearances this season, the 23-year-old Herrera has slashed .296/.342/.415 with eight homers and 16 steals, accumulating 3.8 WAR in the process, per FanGraphs. He should be in line to serve as the Phillies' starting center fielder in 2016.

Herrera went 4-for-4 with a run scored in Tuesday's 4-3 victory over the Mets.

Herrera broke out of a 2-for-22 slump in spectacular fashion, posting his second career four-hit game. The 23-year-old has been a ray of hope in the Phillies' dismal season, showing a nice mix of some power and speed. Herrera has smacked 27 doubles and eight homers, while legging out three triples and swiping 15 bags. He has received steady playing time all season long, and figures to head into the 2016 campaign as Philadelphia's starting center fielder.

Herrera is out of the lineup Sunday against the Nationals, Robert Dawson of WNEW-FM reports.

Phillies interim manager Pete Mackanin will sit Herrera with lefty Gio Gonzalez on the mound for the Nationals. Aaron Altherr will pick up the start in center field.
