Fri Aug 27 202115:11Trevor Bauer's Administrative Leave Pushed Back
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Trevor Bauer's administrative leave will be pushed back on Friday for another week until Sept. 3. Major League Baseball continues their investigation into an alleged sexual assault by Bauer, and the right-hander has been on administrative leave since July 2. More than likely, the 30-year-old from UCLA will not get back on a mound for the Dodgers the rest of the year. If Bauer doesn't pitch again in 2021, he'll finish his first season in LA with an 8-5 record, 2.59 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 137 strikeouts and 37 walks in 107 2/3 frames covering 17 starts. It remains to be seen if the 2020 National League Cy Young winner will be suspended next season on top of his administrative leave this season, and it likely depends on how the legal process plays out. It could still be a while before we have any kind of resolution.

Thu Aug 19 202121:23Trevor Bauer Has Leave Extended Through August 27
The MLB and MLBPA have extended Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer's leave through August 27. He's been on paid leave since July 2 as the MLB and MLBPA continue to investigate sexual assault allegations against him. This is the fifth time the Dodgers right-hander has had his date move as there appears to be no resolution with Bauer. Fantasy managers can move on from the 30-year-old as it seems more than likely that Bauer will not be on the mound again in 2021.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer's administrative leave will be extended through August 13. He has been on paid leave since July 2 as the MLB and MLBPA continue to investigate sexual assault allegations against him. This is the fourth time the date has been moved, and the MLB has not come to a resolution with the Dodgers right-hander. It appears Bauer's season is unofficially over, and more than likely, we may not see the 30-year-old on the mound in 2021.

Tue Jul 27 202115:14Bauer's administrative leave extended through Aug 6
NEW YORK (AP) — Trevor Bauer’s administrative leave was extended by 10 days through Aug. 6 on Tuesday by Major League Baseball and the players’ association while the sport’s investigators check into allegations of sexual misconduct against the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher. Bauer was placed on seven days’ paid leave on July 2 under the joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy adopted by MLB and the players’ union in 2015. MLB and the union have agreed to three extensions. Police in Pasadena, California, and MLB are investigating the allegations made against Bauer by a Southern California woman who says the pitcher choked her to the point where she lost consciousness and punched her during two sexual encounters this year. The woman obtained a protection order against Bauer under the Domestic Violence Prevention Act. According to the woman’s declaration attached to the request for the protection order, she suffered injuries as a result of the second encounter, including... [More]

Wed Jul 7 202120:38Dodgers cancel Bauer's bobblehead night, pull merchandise
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers have canceled Trevor Bauer's bobblehead night and pulled his merchandise from their team stores in the wake of allegations of sexual misconduct against the Cy Young Award-winning pitcher. The Dodgers confirmed the moves Wednesday, saying in a statement that the team “did not feel it was appropriate” to have a bobblehead night or to sell Bauer merchandise “while investigations continue by Major League Baseball and the Pasadena Police Department.” Fans at Dodger Stadium had been scheduled to get their first bobblehead doll of Bauer on Aug. 19. Merchandise featuring his name or likeness is no longer available in the Dodgers' team stores or the club's online shop. Pasadena police and MLB are both investigating the allegations made against Bauer by a Southern California woman who says the pitcher choked and punched her during two sexual encounters earlier this year. The woman obtained a protection order against Bauer last month under the Domestic Violence... [More]
Mon Jul 5 202121:38Dodgers' Roberts not expecting Bauer back after 7-day leave
MIAMI (AP) — Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expects pitcher Trevor Bauer to be out beyond the seven-day administrative leave imposed by Major League Baseball slated to end Friday. Bauer was placed on leave last Friday, three days after an allegation of assault was made by a woman against him. MLB and police are investigating the incident. The administrative leave — during which a player is paid but cannot play — has been extended for players under the policy in the past. Roberts expressed doubts about Bauer returning as soon as Friday before the Dodgers opened a four-game series against the Miami Marlins on Monday. The leave was imposed under the joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy adopted by MLB and the players’ union in 2015 and can be the initial step leading to a longer suspension. A protection order against Bauer was obtained under the Domestic Violence Prevention Act and was the result of an assault by him that left the woman who sought the order... [More]

Thu Jul 1 202118:37Dodgers' Roberts says Bauer still expected to start Sunday
WASHINGTON (AP) — Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts says pitcher Trevor Bauer is still on track to start Sunday against the Washington Nationals while police and Major League Baseball investigate an assault allegation made against the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner. Police in Pasadena, California, are investigating claims by a woman who has also obtained a protection order against Bauer, according to her attorney. Jon Fetterolf, Bauer’s co-agent, has disputed the allegations. Roberts said Thursday that Bauer's availability to pitch is “out of our hands,” deferring to the league. Under the Joint MLB-MLBPA Domestic Violence Policy, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred has the power to place a player on administrative leave while allegations are investigated. “I’m in the position of following the lead of Major League Baseball,” Roberts said. “Their recommendation was for us to ... he was our scheduled (starter) Sunday, and to move forward and start that game on Sunday. And so for me to try... [More]
Tue Jun 29 202123:51Attorney: Woman says Dodgers' Trevor Bauer assaulted her
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Police are investigating an allegation of assault against Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer and an attorney for the accuser says the woman has obtained a protection order. Major League Baseball also is looking into the allegation. “The Dodgers were made aware of the allegations against Trevor Bauer late this afternoon and immediately contacted MLB, which will be handling this matter," the team said in a statement during its game Tuesday night against San Francisco. “The Dodgers take any allegations of this nature very seriously, but will have no further comment at this time,” the club said. The protection order was obtained under the Domestic Violence Prevention Act and was the result of an “assault that took place at the hands of Mr. Bauer" where the woman "suffered severe physical and emotional pain,” attorney Marc Garelick said. Pasadena police spokesman Lt. Bill Grisafe confirmed that the department is looking into accusations of an assault involving Bauer,... [More]

WASHINGTON (AP) — Kyle Schwarber homered twice, becoming the first player in major league history to hit 15 home runs in a 17-day span, and the Washington Nationals beat the New York Mets 8-4 on Monday night. Schwarber socked a 1-0 fastball from Jared Eickhoff an estimated 439 feet into the upper deck in right field in the first inning. It was his sixth leadoff homer this season, and Trea Turner followed with a 435-foot bomb to left to make it 2-0. Schwarber took Eickhoff (0-1) deep again in the fifth inning, his 24th of the year. The Nationals have won 12 of 15 to return to .500 and move within three games of the first-place Mets in the NL East. Ryan Zimmerman had a pinch-hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning for the Nationals after New York had cut the lead to 5-4. Paolo Espino (2-2) threw five scoreless innings in a spot start. Sun Jun 13 202102:06Phillies top Yankees 8-7 for 3rd straight walkoff victory
Jean Segura scored Ronald Torreyes with an infield single in the 10th inning for his second straight game-ending hit and the Philadelphia Phillies got a third consecutive walkoff win with an 8-7 victory over the New York Yankees on Saturday. After Yankees star DJ LeMahieu hit a tying, three-run homer in the ninth, Archie Bradley (2-1) pitched a perfect 10th to strand the designated runner. Travis Jankowski led off the bottom of the inning against Aroldis Chapman (4-2) by reaching on the pitcher’s error. Jankowski bunted, and Chapman fielded the ball, checked Torreyes at second, then huried a throw high to first. Torreyes advanced to third. Odubel Herrera popped out, then Segura hit a hard grounder to third baseman Gio Urshela, who dived toward the line to catch it but couldn’t relay the ball home ahead of Torreyes. Bryce Harper doubled, had two singles and drove in two for the Phillies, who have won five of six. Gary Sánchez hit a solo homer and had an RBI single, and Rougned Odor also... [More]
Sun Jun 6 202123:44La Russa gets 2,764th win, passes McGraw for 2nd place
CHICAGO (AP) — Tony La Russa moved past John McGraw into sole possession of second on baseball’s career manager wins list, directing the Chicago White Sox to a 3-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. It was win No. 2,764 for La Russa, who was hired by Chicago in October for his first managerial job since he led St. Louis to the World Series championship in 2011. It has been a bit of a bumpy ride so far, but the 76-year-old Hall of Famer has the White Sox on top of the AL Central. Second on the list is almost assuredly the highest finish for La Russa, who also began his managerial career with the White Sox in 1979. The top spot belongs to Connie Mack with 3,731 victories. La Russa watched as Chicago won for the 10th time in 14 games. Dylan Cease (4-2) struck out 10 in seven sparkling innings, Liam Hendriks worked the ninth for his 15th save and Tim Anderson had two hits and two RBIs. José Ureña (2-5) allowed three runs and six hits in five innings. PHILLIES 12, NATIONALS 6 PHILADELPHIA... [More]

A look at what’s happening around the majors today: ___ FOUR GAMES IN GOTHAM Both the Yankees and Mets are set to host doubleheaders in New York after their games were postponed by lousy weather Wednesday night. The Yankees will play Toronto twice in the Bronx, and they’ll do it without 2020 big league home run leader Luke Voit, who is headed for the injured list with a right oblique strain.
