Thu Jun 1 202312:05J.T. Realmuto Taking Day Off Thursday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto will start Thursday's game against the New York Mets on the bench. Realmuto will get a breather in a matinee contest after a night game. The All-Star backstop had a down month in May, hitting .228 (18-for-79) with seven doubles, two triples, no home runs, seven RBI and two stolen bases in 24 games played, so fantasy managers will be hoping that he'll get going at the plate again with the calendar flipping to June. Overall, he's slashing .257/.307/.423 with a .730 OPS, three homers, 17 RBI and seven steals in 49 games. Realmuto is still one of the best offensive-minded catchers in the game. Garrett Stubbs is behind the plate and is hitting ninth on Thursday against Mets right-hander Max Scherzer.

Wed May 24 202312:27Brandon Marsh Back In Lineup, J.T. Realmuto Resting
Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh (shoulder) is back in the starting lineup on Wednesday against right-hander Zac Gallen and the Arizona Diamondbacks, starting in center field and batting eighth. Meanwhile, catcher J.T. Realmuto will take the day off. In his absence, Garrett Stubbs will do the catching while batting in the nine-hole. Marsh missed the last three games with right-shoulder inflammation, and he'll return in a very tough matchup against Gallen. The 25-year-old will return to a .262 average (34-for-130) with eight doubles, a league-high four triples, four home runs, 16 RBI and three steals in 45 games played. He's cooled off considerably, though, with just one hit and 11 strikeouts in his last 26 at-bats over 11 games. Fantasy managers should probably keep him on the bench for now.

Sun May 14 202314:55J.T. Realmuto Back In Action Sunday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is back in the lineup for Sunday's game against Kyle Freeland and the Colorado Rockies, batting sixth. The star backstop missed Saturday's game due to a sprained pinky finger, but he's been cleared to play. It's great news for fantasy managers, as they won't have to go without Realmuto long-term. The 32-year-old is slashing .285/.305/.488 with three homers, 13 runs, 15 RBI, and five stolen bases across 33 games, and he should be in every starting lineup for the remainder of the season.

Sat May 13 202316:45J.T. Realmuto Officially Out On Saturday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (finger) is officially out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Colorado Rockies. The 32-year-old was forced to exit early during Friday's contest due to a sprained right pinky finger. Luckily, the X-rays came back negative, so it doesn't appear that Realmuto is dealing with a serious issue. The Phillies will hold him out of this game as a precaution, so fantasy managers should consider Realmuto as day-to-day. Garrett Stubbs will handle the catching duties and bat ninth versus right-hander Ryan Feltner.

Sat May 13 202309:05J.T. Realmuto Likely Out Saturday With Sprained Finger
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (finger) was forced from Friday's win over the Colorado Rockies with a sprained right pinky. Phillies skipper Rob Thomson said that Realmuto probably won't be in Saturday's lineup for the second game of the series. Fantasy managers should keep their fingers crossed that the star backstop won't have to miss much more time than that, but he should be deemed day-to-day as X-rays came back negative. The three-time Silver Slugger is hitting .285 with three home runs, 15 RBI, and five stolen bases this season.

Wed May 3 202314:22J.T. Realmuto Absent From Starting Lineup Wednesday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is not in Wednesday's starting lineup against the Los Angeles Dodgers and right-hander Gavin Stone. It's a rare off day for the veteran backstop but an understandable one considering Wednesday is an afternoon game following an evening contest on Tuesday. It was a tough start for Realmuto following a productive World Baseball Classic effort but he's finding a groove at the dish. He had a six-game hit streak snapped on Tuesday as he recorded nine hits including a homer, a double, a triple, and a stolen base in that time. Garrett Stubbs will start behind the plate and hit ninth in Realmuto's place Wednesday afternoon.

Thu Apr 27 202312:14J.T. Realmuto Getting A Day Off Against Seattle
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is not in the team's starting lineup against the Seattle Mariners on Thursday. It appears to just be a normal day of rest for Realmuto in a matinee contest after a night affair. When on the field, Realmuto is an elite fantasy catching option. He's currently hitting .259 (22-for-85) with six doubles, a triple, two home runs, eight RBI, four stolen bases and eight runs scored in 90 plate appearances across his first 22 games of the 2023 season. With the 32-year-old backstop getting a breather Thursday, Garrett Stubbs will do the catching and hit ninth in the order against Mariners right-hander George Kirby.

Tue Apr 11 202314:52J.T. Realmuto Returns To Starting Lineup On Tuesday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto will return to the starting lineup on Tuesday as the club takes on the Miami Marlins and left-hander Jesus Luzardo. Monday was a routine day off for the veteran who started eight of the club's first nine games of the season. Following a productive performance for Team USA at the World Baseball Classic, the 32-year-old has scuffled out of the gate this season, hitting just .226 with one homer, one stolen base, and a .669 OPS across his first 32 trips to the plate, punching out in 34.4% of them. Given his lengthy track record of success, expect Realmuto to bounce back moving forward.

Mon Apr 10 202318:15J.T. Realmuto Out Of Starting Lineup Monday
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is not in the starting lineup Monday versus Sandy Alcantara and the visiting Miami Marlins. It's the first off day of the season for the veteran backstop who has scuffled to a .226 average with one home run, one stolen base, and a .669 OPS across 32 trips to the plate in nine games out of the gate. Despite the slow start, the former Marlin has been one of the most reliable fantasy catchers since entering the league as he boasts a strong power/speed combination evidenced by his 22 HR alongside a career-high 21 SB in the 2022 campaign. Lefty-swinging Garrett Stubbs will get his first starting of the season behind the plate, hitting ninth against one of the toughest right-handers in the game.

Tue Mar 21 202316:14J.T. Realmuto Wielding Hot Bat In WBC
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto is 5-for-8 with a double and two RBI during the World Baseball Classic. Realmuto has also walked once without a strikeout in his three games behind the dish. Realmuto was hitting .500 in eight spring at-bats before heading to the WBC, so he's been in midseason form all spring. He had another elite season in 2022 and heads into 2023 as the No. 1 catcher in baseball. He has a RotoBaller rank of 37 and an ADP of 43.3. He'll have one more game on Tuesday in the WBC final against Japan to show why he's the game's best. Draft him as the top catcher and reap the rewards that come with it.

Fri Sep 30 202217:28J.T. Realmuto Taking A Seat In Game 2 Of Doubleheader
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto made history in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Friday against the Washington Nationals, but he'll start on the bench in Game 2. Realmuto went 2-for-5 with a double, three stolen bases, an RBI and two strikeouts in Game 1 to become only the second catcher in major-league history to hit 20-plus home runs and steal 20-plus bases in the same season, joining Ivan Rodriguez, who accomplished the feat back in 1999. Realmuto now has 22 home runs and 21 stolen bases in 2022. Garrett Stubbs is behind the dish in Game 2 and is hitting ninth against Nationals right-hander Tommy Romero. In four appearances in September, Stubbs is 1-for-9 with no RBI or runs scored, but he is hitting .276 (27-for-98) on the season.

Sat Sep 10 202210:27J.T. Realmuto Goes 3-for-3 In Friday's Win
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto was perfect in Friday's 5-3 victory over the Washington Nationals, going 3-for-3 with a home run, a hit-by-pitch, a run, and two RBI. The backstop's having one of the best fantasy seasons of his career, slashing .273/.344/.464 with 16 HRs, 64 runs, 73 RBI, and a career-high 17 SBs. Realmuto's always been fast for a catcher, but his increased aggressiveness on the basepaths has been wonderful for fantasy managers. The 31-year-old stands out as the best catcher in roto leagues.

Sat Jun 4 202209:42J.T. Realmuto Enjoying Modest Five-Game Hitting Streak
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto went 1-for-3 and scored a run in Friday's 10-0 blowout win against the Los Angeles Angels. The hit was just a single, but he's now hit safely in five straight games and nine of his last 10. This stretch has brought Realmuto's batting average to .248 after batting .224 through May 22. Across 46 games, the 31-year-old has just three home runs, 16 RBI, 24 runs, and four stolen bases. Although Realmuto is still being aggressive on the basepaths, fantasy managers have to be disappointed with his production thus far.

Mon May 23 202209:46J.T. Realmuto Hitting .169/.246/.271 In May
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto has been slumping at the plate so far in May. Over 16 appearances this month, he is slashing .169/.246/.271 with just three extra-base hits: a home run, a double and a triple. The 31-year-old veteran currently has an average exit velocity of 86.3 mph, which is down significantly from what we're used to seeing from him. He was right around 90 mph in each of the last three years and his career average is 89 mph. Meanwhile, his hard-hit rate is down from 44.7% last year to 35.1% this year. Very few catchers across the league are providing much value for fantasy managers thus far, so we encourage patience with Realmuto, who has been a mainstay atop the catcher rankings for several years.
