Thu Apr 7 202211:19Christian Yelich Batting Third On Opening Day
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is starting in left field and batting third on Opening Day on Thursday against Chicago Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks. Yelich went 7-for-27 (.259) with two doubles and no home runs in spring training and is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2021 in which he slashed .248/.362/.373 with nine home runs, 51 RBI, 70 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 475 plate appearances over 117 games while dealing with injuries. With better health, Yelich should bounce back, but his health concerns are very real, and the Brewers could give him regular days off throughout the season to keep him fresh.

Sun Apr 3 202212:33Christian Yelich Hitting .280 This Spring
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is having a solid spring thus far, hitting .280 with two runs and three RBI over 25 at-bats. A few years ago, Yelich was playing at an MVP level and was regularly being selected as a first-round pick in fantasy drafts. He is coming off two straight disappointing seasons, by his standards, which have dimmed his fantasy stock some. If he's able to reclaim his 2018-2019 mojo, Yelich could wind up as a value in fantasy leagues this season, which makes him worth taking a chance on as a second outfielder in mixed leagues.

Sun Oct 3 202113:13Christian Yelich Resting For Season Finale
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is getting a rest day for the team's season finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday. Tyrone Taylor is getting the start in left field and batting seventh in the game. Yelich's disappointing 2021 season has officially come to an end. The 29-year-old dealt with injuries throughout the year and only managed to play in 117 games. He slashed .248/.362/.373 with nine home runs, nine stolen bases, 51 RBI and 70 runs. His .736 OPS was a career-low mark. This was the first year he failed to reach double-digits in home runs since 2015.

Thu Sep 30 202112:20Christian Yelich Getting A Breather Thursday
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich will take a seat Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals. It's been another down year for the one-time MVP, as he's slashed .247/.360/.374 with eight stolen bases and just nine home runs in 115 games. His numbers are even worse off of left-handers, posting a .628 OPS, so with J.A. Happ starting for the Cardinals, it's a good day to give him a rest. Jace Peterson will take his spot in the outfield and bat seventh. He's an underwhelming hitter, slashing .251/.354/.375, but has some speed with 10 SBs across 91 games and has hit .283 against southpaws this season. He's a streaming option in deep leagues only.

Thu Sep 30 202108:42Christian Yelich Reaches Base Three Times On Wednesday
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich had a strong offensive showing in the team's 4-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday. He went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in the game. The former NL MVP has continued to struggle over the course of September. He's slashing just .213/.300/.303 this month and he's hit just one home run since August 21. Yelich will be one of the most intriguing players to evaluate for fantasy drafts next year as he's just two years removed from a 44-homer season where he posted a 1.100 OPS. However, he's struggled since the start of 2020 and fantasy managers won't be able to shrug off his recent output easily.

Tue Sep 21 202118:23Christian Yelich Out Of Tuesday's Lineup
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich will not be in the lineup Tuesday against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. The 2018 NL MVP is getting a day off as he has struggled at the plate this month. Yelich is hitting just .203/.261/.250 with seven RBI and five runs scored on just 13 hits through 64 at-bats and hasn't hit a home run since late August. While the 29-year-old might still have some fantasy value in deep leagues, managers really can't trust him to produce these days.

Tue Sep 14 202108:51Christian Yelich Slugging Just .300 In September
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich has continued to struggle at the plate in September. The 2018 NL MVP has slashed just .250/.302/.300 over 11 games this month. He hasn't homered since August 21, a dry spell that has lasted 20 games. Yelich was a fantasy dream during his first two years in Milwaukee in 2018 and 2019, posting a four-digit OPS both years. However, he's really struggled over the last two years. He slashed .205/.356/.430 in the abbreviated 2020 campaign and he has a .256/.368/.384 slash line this year. There isn't much fantasy managers can do now. In deep leagues and five-outfielder leagues, he's probably still worth starting, but in shallow leagues, he's a drop candidate.

Tue Aug 31 202113:08Christian Yelich Doubles And Scores Run Against Giants
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich went 1-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Monday's 3-1 win over San Francisco. Yelich doubled in the first inning, then scored the first run of the game on a single by Omar Narvaez. After scuffling for the majority of the season, he is batting .308 in August and has at least one hit in his last 17 starts. The 29-year-old is slashing .254/.376/.395 with eight home runs, 41 RBI, 58 runs, and eight steals in 362 plate appearances. Despite the lack of home runs this season, he is heating up with four doubles in his last six games. Fantasy owners who have been patient with Yelich are finally starting to see benefits.

Mon Aug 30 202110:40Christian Yelich Reaches Base Three Times In Victory
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Twins. Yelich extended his hitting streak to eight games with his two-hit performance Sunday. He's actually recorded at least one base hit in 16 of his last 17 games and is slashing .359/.403/.547 with eight extra-base hits, 12 RBI, 12 runs scored, and a 6:12 BB: K over that span. The 29-year-old appears to have picked things up at the plate heading into September, as he's raised his batting average up nearly 30 points to .255 over the last few weeks. It's been a disappointing year for Yelich, but he appears to be heating up down the stretch and could be pivotal for the fantasy playoffs.

Sun Aug 29 202112:40Christian Yelich Showing Improvement At Plate
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich, who is hitting third on Sunday against Minnesota Twins right-hander Griffin Jax, has been showing signs of turning around his dismal year. Yelich is 10-for-25 with two home runs and nine RBI over his last 25 at-bats. The 29-year-old, chosen by some fantasy managers in the first round, has been a huge disappointment in 2021 but still could be a good buy-low trade candidate for the stretch run. He also could be a decent daily play on Sunday given his platoon splits. On the season, Yelich is slashing .252/.375/.390.

Sun Aug 22 202109:51Christian Yelich Crushes Two Home Runs Including A Grand Slam
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich went 3-for-5 with two home runs, three runs scored and six RBI in Saturday's 9-6 win over the Nationals. For at least one day, Yelich rediscovered his MVP form, taking Paolo Espino deep in the first inning for a solo shot before launching a grand slam off Javy Guerra in the eighth inning. Yelich hadn't homered since July 18th and hadn't had a multi-homer game all season, and despite this huge performance, he's batting only .244 with eight home runs and 38 RBI through 81 contests. Hopefully this is a turning point for Yelich, who has been utterly disappointing so far this year.

Fri Aug 20 202118:04Christian Yelich On The Bench On Friday
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich isn't starting on Friday against the Washington Nationals and left-hander Patrick Corbin. Yelich is hitting .239 with a .371 on-base percentage, six home runs, and seven stolen bases in 321 plate appearances this season. Tyrone Taylor is starting in left field for Yelich and batting leadoff against Corbin. The 27-year-old could be a quality streaming option for fantasy managers in deeper leagues on Friday. In 236 plate appearances this year, Taylor is batting .248 with a .326 on-base percentage, 10 home runs, and five stolen bases.

Mon Aug 16 202110:16Christian Yelich Smacks Two Doubles In Win
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI in Sunday's 2-1 win over The Pirates. Yelich extended his hitting streak to five games, going 7-for-20 (.350) in that stretch. The outfielder has suffered a brutal power slump lately, with his doubles Sunday accounting for his first extra-base hits since July 21st. He's slashing .236/.375/.360 with six home runs, 31 RBI, 49 runs scored, seven stolen bases, and 11 doubles through 307 plate appearances. To say he's been a disappointment is an understatement. Fortunately, the Brewers have had other players step up for Yelich and they remain in first place despite their key offensive player having a terrible season.

Sun Aug 15 202116:56Christian Yelich Doubles Twice In Win Sunday
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI in a 2-1 win over the Pirates on Sunday. It was just his second multi-hit performance in his last 12 games, as he has struggled all year long with a .236/.375/.360 triple-slash line, six homers, seven steals, 31 RBI and 49 runs scored over 76 games. He's heated up slightly at the plate over his last seven games where he's slashing .280/.333/.360 with three RBI and four runs scored, but it's looking very unlikely that managers should anticipate a late-season resurgence at the plate for Yelich.

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich (COVID-19) has been activated from the COVID-19 injured list and will be available off the bench, according to Will Sammon of The Athletic. Yelich will be on the bench for Saturday night's matchup with the Giants, but could be back in the lineup on Sunday for the series finale. Mon Aug 2 202120:19Christian Yelich Likely To Return This Weekend
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich (COVID-19) will likely remain out until the weekend, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. Yelich was placed on the injured list last week while experiencing mild symptoms, but he is expected to be able to return to the ballpark by Thursday when he is first eligible to come off the IL. McCalvy adds that the team wants to give Yelich a couple additional days to ease back into the lineup, so assuming he clears protocols on Thursday he likely won't return to the lineup until the weekend. Managers should keep an eye out for further updates on his condition, and hope that he'll have better results in the second half after slashing .235/.382/.367 over 67 games this year.

Wed Jul 28 202122:54Brewers add All-Star 3B Escobar in trade with Diamondbacks
PHOENIX (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers acquired All-Star third baseman Eduardo Escobar from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday for two prospects. The 32-year-old Escobar made his first All-Star game this season and is batting .246 with 22 homers. The switch-hitter should be a valuable and versatile piece for the first-place Brewers, who are trying to lock down the NL Central. “We’re talking about a very accomplished switch-hitter," said David Stearns, Milwaukee's president of baseball operations. “He’s got tremendous positional versatility, can play all over the field, infield and outfield. "He gives us a lot of options, and one of the things that we are trying to accomplish prior to the (trade deadline) is preparing ourselves for the unknown of what could happen over the next two months.” Milwaukee could use some extra pop in the lineup, especially in the coming weeks. Star outfielder Christian Yelich recently went on the COVID-19 injured list and is expected to miss at least another... [More]

Star outfielder Christian Yelich recently went on the COVID-19 injured list and is expected to miss at least another week. Escobar said it was tough to leave Arizona, where he had career highs with 35 homers and 118 RBIs in 2019, but it was exciting to have an opportunity to be in the postseason hunt. “I love this team. I have really good people here, really good friends,” Escobar said of the Diamondbacks. “But at the end of the day, it’s a new opportunity for me. I’m so happy that the organization in Milwaukee is giving me an opportunity... [More]

He was one of the few bright spots for Arizona this season, which has MLB's worst record at 31-71 going into Wednesday. “We’re happy with the two players we got from the Brewers,” Arizona general manager Mike Hazen said. “I think anytime we’re trading someone like Eduardo off our team it’s certainly... Wed Jul 28 202103:04LEADING OFF: Turner, Yelich out with COVID-19, Judge returns
A look at what’s happening around the majors today: ___ BIG NAMES TEST POSITIVE COVID-19 continues to impact major league rosters more than 16 months after spring training was shut down in 2020 because of the coronavirus. The Washington Nationals will likely be without star shortstop Trea Turner for the next several days, while the Milwaukee Brewers will be missing 2018 NL MVP Christian Yelich for more than a week. Turner and Yelich recently tested positive. Yelich and teammate Jace Peterson were placed on the COVID-19 injured list Tuesday. Turner was pulled in the first inning of Tuesday night's game at Philadelphia. Turner began the day batting .320 with 18 home runs and 49 RBIs. He singled and scored in the first inning, then headed directly up the tunnel toward the Nationals' clubhouse and was replaced in the bottom of the first. The Phillies announced later in the game that Turner had tested positive, ending speculation that he was lifted for a possible pending trade or due to injury.... [More]
