The Texas Rangers placed right-hander A.J. Griffin on the 10-day disabled list on Saturday because of with a left intercostal muscle strain.Griffin was forced to leave Friday night's game due to the injury after 1 1/3 innings in his start against the Toronto Blue Jays.Griffin allowed four runs and three hits, including a home run, before being removed. He is expected to be further evaluated and have an MRI exam when the team returns home Monday."It got pretty tight there that last batter," Griffin said after the Rangers' 7-6 loss. "It felt more like a cramp earlier on in the game. Sometimes those come and you can just pitch through them. It just kept tightening more and more, grabbing more and more."Griffin is 4-2 with a 5.77 ERA in eight starts with Texas this season.To replace Griffin on the active roster, the Rangers recalled right-hander Dillon Gee from Triple-A Round Rock. He was available in the bullpen for Saturday's game at Rogers Centre in Toronto.Gee is 3-4 with a 3.88 ERA in nine starts at Round Rock. He has pitched 13 2/3 scoreless innings in winning his last two outings.Gee was signed by the Rangers to major league contract on April 3 and optioned to Round Rock. He has career record of 48-48 with a 4.13 ERA in 147 games (124 starts) with the New York Mets (2010-15) and Kansas City Royals (2016).
