Rodriguez (1-3) retired the first two batters he faced, but C Bruce Maxwell walked, and Matt Joyce doubled him to third. That set the stage for Rosales, who grounded Rodriguez's first-pitch fastball sharply to left for a single. The walk-off win was Oakland's first of the season. Rosales had a walk-off RBI for the fifth time in his career as he helped Oakland win for the third time in the past 12 games. "It's almost like a relief to get that win," Rosales said. "That's exciting. To come back tomorrow, we have a chance to win the series now and just kind of get over a little hump. We've been scuffling a little bit, but it just feels good to be together, to win together as a team."

INF Adam Rosales hit LHP Ariel Miranda's third pitch of the game for a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning Saturday, helping the Athletics rally past the Mariners for a 4-3 win. Rosales has batted leadoff just six times in his career, and now has two first-inning home runs to show for it. Rosales followed his second homer of the season with a 15.90-second sprint around the bases, the fastest recorded in the three years Major League Baseball has measured "trots."

INF Adam Rosales made three excellent plays at short Monday night and was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Rosales is hitting .282 (33-for-117) over 57 games since May 31. "Adam is fun to watch," said Padres manager Andy Green. "He gives so much of himself on every play."

2B Adam Rosales hit his 10th homer in the second inning, reaching double digits in homers for the first time in his career. As he neared home plate, Rosales paid tribute to teammate Yangervis Solarte, whose 31-year-old wife, Yuliette, died Saturday of complications from cancer. Rosales mimicked Solarte's pronounced hand clap that resembles the snapping jaws of an alligator. "We talked about it before the game today," Rosales said. "If somebody hit a home run, we'd do the alligator arm for Solarte. We miss Solarte right now, and our hearts definitely go out to him and his family. Right when I hit it, I knew it was gone. I thought about Yuliette and Solarte the whole time (going around the bases). It was just a tribute. I feel like it would mean a lot to Solarte to know how much he means to us, how much his family means to the San Diego Padres. I don't hit too many home runs, but I was happy that I was able to do that and acknowledge the Solarte family."

2B Adam Rosales again sprinted around the bases -- as is his custom -- after hitting his two-run homer in the fourth. It was his ninth homer of the season, but his first since July 30 against Cincinnati. Since Aug. 16, Rosales is 9-for-24 with two doubles, two triples and a homer for four RBIs and six runs scored.

INF Adam Rosales made his first start of the season and the sixth of his career in left field Saturday night. Rosales struck out and walked in two plate appearances during a 5-1 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The six-year veteran last started in left field July 5, 2015 against the Los Angeles Angels.

INF Adam Rosales prevailed in one of the most spirited battles at training camp. He was in competition with Alexi Amarista and Jemile Weeks for the team's utility role. Manager Andy Green eventually went with Rosales. "You like to have that piece as a manager that no matter where you put (Rosales) on the field he is going to make the play,'' he said. "It came down to who best secures the baseball and that was Rosales.'' Amarista and Weeks are playing in Triple-A El Paso.

Rosales declined an outright assignment to Triple-A and will be released by the Rangers, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

If Rosales had accepted the assignment, it's possible he could have been added back to the roster in September, but he seems to think a better opportunity awaits him on the open market. Rosales hit .228/.296/.342 in 55 games with Texas this season, numbers almost identical to his career marks (.227/.294/.342).

Rosales was designated for assignment Wednesday.

Rosales hadn't seen the field in a while prior to his designation for assignment, and will now pass through waivers before potentially returning to the minors. The veteran struggled to the tune of a .228/.296/.342 batting line with the Rangers this season, but could remain an option in September if he can prove useful again and could provide a veteran bat off the bench.

Rosales is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Rosales turned in a big performance at the plate Saturday, going 4-for-4 with two runs scored and raising his batting average from .200 to .246 on the season. Hanser Alberto will start at shortstop in his place Sunday, batting ninth for the Rangers.

Rosales is in the lineup Thursday against Boston.

Rosales will get the call against Boston left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez, pushing Tommy Field, who's started the last three games, to the bench. Rosales will hit eighth in the order after going 0-for-2 with a strikeout in two pinch-hit at-bats Wednesday against Cleveland.

Rosales is not in the lineup Monday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Rosales will return to the bench after starting the last three games at second base over Rougned Odor. Odor was optioned to Triple-A on Monday, but the Rangers recalled Tommy Field, who will get the nod at second base Monday.

Rosales will make his third straight start at second base Sunday against the Rays, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

For the time being, it appears Rosales has displaced the struggling Rougned Odor as the Rangers' top option at second base. Though Rosales has two homers on his season ledger, his ugly .158/.220/.316 line and low placement in the Rangers' batting order makes him a rather unappealing option outside of AL-only leagues. Rosales is best utilized as a utility infielder off the bench, so expect Odor to reclaim his starting role once he breaks out of his offensive slumber.

Rosales was a late addition to Friday's lineup against the Mariners, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Rosales will fill in for Mitch Moreland, who was a late scratch from the lineup. He'll bat eighth in the order Friday.

Rosales went 1-for-4 with his first homer of the year and two strikeouts Wednesday in a loss to the Angels.

He got the start at first base and shifted to third after Adrian Beltre was rested in the rout. Rosales won't see many starts around the Rangers' infield, and his bat is of very limited fantasy value.

With Rougned Odor (shin) and Elvis Andrus (back) both likely to be ready by Opening Day, Rosales figures to serve as a utilityman to start the season. Rosales' value to the Rangers largely lies in his ability to play all four infield positions, as he owns a .226/.294/.342 slash line through 985 career at-bats, with 24 home runs and just eight stolen bases.

Rosales will return to Texas on a one-year, $900,000 deal for 2015, CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports.

After the Rangers suffered countless injuries, Rosales was called upon last season to play every position in the infield other than catcher, although he saw most of his time at first base. His value to Texas is certainly centered around his versatility, as a .262/.328/.378 slash line from a first baseman certainly doesn't blow anyone away. It would be difficult to envision him seeing as much time as he saw in 2014, and he was not an appealing option last season, so he should be even less useful in 2015.
