DeShields found his way on base all five times up Thursday against Toronto, going 2-for-2 with two singles, three walks and two runs scored.
He was also caught stealing, which was the only mark against the rookie in this one. DeShields' seventh-inning single to right ended up plating three runs -- including himself -- when Jose Bautista overran the ball, and that play ended up being the difference in the game. The Rule 5 pick has been a surprising source of OBP and an unsurprising source of speed in what's become a full-time role with the Rangers.

DeShields was 1-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored, a home run, and a stolen base in the Rangers' win over Tampa Bay on Friday night.
With Leonys Martin being sent to Triple-A, DeShields finds himself in centerfield everyday while hitting at the top of the Texas order. He's not going to provide your fantasy team with many homers (this was his first) but he will steal bases (he is 19-for-23) and score a lot of runs if he can keep getting on base.

DeShields will start in center field and bat leadoff Monday against the Astros, according to Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star Telegram.
After making five-straight starts, DeShields got Sunday's game off in favor of Leonys Martin. He reclaims the leadoff spot and his role in center field Monday. The 22-year-old is hitting .273 in 68 games this season with 16 stolen bases.

DeShields is out of the lineup Sunday against the Giants.
DeShields has made five consecutive starts in center field, but will rest Sunday in favor of Leonys Martin. Rougned Odor will take his place atop the batting order.

DeShields is back in the lineup Tuesday and will bat leadoff against the Yankees.
DeShields was given the night off for Monday's series opener against New York, but he'll be back in his usual leadoff role Tuesday. He'll be facing left-hander Chris Capuano, who is 0-3 with a 6.39 ERA as a starter this season.

DeShields is out of the lineup Monday against the Yankees.
DeShields still looks reasonably secure in his role as the Rangers' everyday center fielder, but after a 3-for-13 series against the Angels, manager Jeff Banister will give him a day off. Leonys Martin gets the start in center, while Rougned Odor moves up to the leadoff spot.

DeShields ran wild again Wednesday in Colorado, going 1-for-3 with a walk, a steal and three runs scored.
This nice 10-8 Coors Field game was a boon to plenty of Rangers fantasy owners, and DeShields certainly enjoyed himself in the thin air over the last two games, going 5-for-9 with two RBI and four runs. The Rule 5 pick has had some good success at the top of the Rangers' order, and though he lacks power, he gets on base, steals and scores.

DeShields ignited the Rangers at the top of the order in Tuesday's 9-0 romp over the Rockies. He went 4-for-6 with two singles, a double, a triple, and two RBI.
Though he was upstaged by teammate Shin-Soo Choo (who hit for the cycle), DeShields was nearly as instrumental in the victory. His four hits were a career high and strengthened his claim to the everyday center field gig, which Leonys Martin appears to have surrendered at this point.

DeShields returned from the disabled list to go 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored Sunday against the Angels.
The 22-year-old hadn't played since June 15 because of a hamstring injury, but picked up right where he left off setting the table for the Texas offense. DeShields is a very reliable source of runs and steals when healthy and should continue to see the majority of his at-bats in the leadoff spot.
Sun Jul 5 201515:53DeShields (hamstring) activated from 15-day disabled list Sunday
DeShields (hamstring) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Sunday.
Though top prospect Joey Gallo is no longer patrolling the Rangers outfield, the return of Josh Hamilton from injury might block DeShields' path to regular at-bats. DeShields' exceptional speed should allow him to see some action off the bench most nights, but he may need either Hamilton or Martin to scuffle a bit before the opportunity to play more often presents itself.
Sun Jul 5 201513:53Delino DeShields Jr.: (Hamstring) Activated From DL
Texas Rangers outfielder Delino Deshields Jr. will be activated from the 15-day disabled list ahead of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Angels after recovering from a hamstring injury, according to the team's official website.
Texas Rangers outfielder Delino Deshields Jr. will be activated from the 15-day disabled list ahead of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Angels after recovering from a hamstring injury, according to the team's official website. DeShields has not played since he suffered the injury June 14. He did not quite make it back from the disabled list after the minimum 15 days, but the Rangers decided his absence was brief enough that no rehab assignment was necessary. DeShields platooned with Leonys Martin in center field for most of April, but injuries to other players opened up regular playing time in May and June. It appeared DeShields would rejoin the team as a part-time player, but with outfielder Josh Hamilton now bothered by a groin injury, the team temporarily has an open spot in the left field. DeShields has made a strong case to earn more playing time, posting a .269/.358/.386 batting line for the season, with 32 runs and 13 stolen bases.

DeShields (hamstring) is slated for a workout Saturday and an evaluation Sunday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
DeShields has logged six rehab outings on his recovering left hamstring, going 8-for-26 (.308) with three doubles, two RBI, and two runs. If all goes well this weekend, he could make his return to the Rangers on Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

Manager Jeff Banister said that while DeShields (hamstring) is "close" to a return, he doesn't anticipate it will happen until next week, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
DeShields has appeared in five rehab games for Triple-A Round Rock heading into Friday, going 7-for-20 at the dish with three doubles and a walk. He was used as Round Rock's DH during his last game Thursday, so it's possible the Rangers want to see him play the outfield through the weekend before greenlighting his return. Once he's formally activated, DeShields will likely deployed in a bench role initially, though he could quickly cut into the at-bats of Josh Hamilton in left field or Leonys Martin in center if either player experiences a prolonged slump.

DeShields (hamstring) went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles as the DH at Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday. According to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, DeShields is expected to return during the team's weekend series.
Once DeShields is activated, he'll face a more obstructed path for playing time with Josh Hamilton in the fold. It's possible that he'll push Leonys Martin for playing time in center field, though a straight platoon may also be in the cards.

DeShields (hamstring) is not playing in Monday's game at Triple-A Round Rock, but he'll return to the lineup Tuesday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Monday is a scheduled day off for DeShields, as the team continues to exercise caution in bringing him back from a left hamstring strain. The expectation is that he'll be back in action Tuesday, continuing his rehab assignment in hopes of returning to the Rangers within the next couple of weeks.
Sat Jun 27 201508:43DeShields (hamstring) will begin rehab assignment Saturday
DeShields (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment Saturday, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
The report also suggests that DeShields could see regular time in left field, with Josh Hamilton manning center field, at the eventual expense of Leonys Martin. DeShields presumably returns as his role as Texas' table setter atop the lineup in that scenario.

DeShields (hamstring) ran sprints prior to Wednesday's game and could begin a rehab assignment as early as Monday, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
DeShields' return to the lineup will come after Josh Hamilton's return, so DeShields figures to see limited at-bats despite a successful run atop the Texas lineup in early June once healthy.
Mon Jun 15 201519:48Delino DeShields: (Hamstring) Expected To Miss Three Weeks
DeShields is expected to be sidelined for three weeks due to his left hamstring strain, MLB.com's TR Sullivan reports.
After Josh Hamilton was placed on the DL in early June with a hamstring injury of his own, DeShields had been holding down a regular spot atop the Rangers' lineup. However, DeShields' injury, along with those suffered by Hamilton and Adrian Beltre, will force the team to shuffle things around for the next few weeks as they wait for some of those players to heal up. Joey Gallo is slated to assume everyday duties in left field in place of DeShields, while second baseman Hanser Alberto moves over to Gallo's spot at third. Meanwhile, Rougned Odor, who was called up from Triple-A Round Rock to take DeShields' spot on the roster, will occupy the second-base role vacated by Alberto.
