Manager Pat Murphy indicated Sunday that Federowicz (knee) will go through extended drills this week, and could begin a minor league rehab assignment in 10 days, Corey Brock of MLB.com reports.

Murphy also stated that Federowicz will require "a bunch" of at-bats before rejoining the Padres, meaning he could stay on his rehab assignment for a while. Even when he returns, Derek Norris will maintain the primary duties behind the plate, but Federwoicz should take over the backup spot in place of Austin Hedges.
