Tue May 23 202300:05Emmanuel Clase Collects 16th Save Monday
Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase picked up his league-best 16th save of the season in Monday's 3-0 win over the White Sox. Clase came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning and went 1-2-3 with a strikeout. The 25-year-old has not had the numbers fantasy managers expected overall with a 3.38 ERA, just a 6.00 K/9 rate, and five blown saves. However, he is still racking up saves and holds a firm grasp of the closer's role. Clase has been one of fantasy's top closers for several seasons now, so fantasy managers shouldn't be too worried, especially because he continues to convert saves.

Fri May 19 202301:08Emmanuel Clase Notches League-Leading 15th Save
Cleveland Guardians relief pitcher Emmanuel Clase threw a clean ninth inning to pick up his 15th save in a 3-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox. Clase allowed a hit and struck out one in his inning of work. He now has a 2.82 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts in 22 IP. He has a staggering 19 save opportunities so far, five more than anyone else. Obviously that won't keep up, but he will continue seeing the lion's share of chances with the Guardians, who tend to play in tight, low-scoring affairs. He should be among the league leaders in saves if he stays healthy.

Mon May 8 202302:17Emmanuel Clase Picks Up 12th Save
Cleveland Guardians relief pitcher Emmanuel Clase notched his 12th save of the season on Sunday, securing a 2-0 victory over the Minnesota Twins. Clase now has the league lead in saves, converting 12 of his 15 attempts. He has a 1.96 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 11 strikeouts in 18 IP. He remains one of the best closers in the league and is at worst a top-three option in fantasy.

Tue May 2 202300:14Emmanuel Clase Notches 10th Save Of Season Monday
Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase picked up his 10th save of the season in Monday's 3-2 win over the Yankees. Clase entered to pitch the bottom of the ninth up by one and made quick work of it, delivering a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout. The 25-year-old has been almost everything fantasy managers had hoped for to this point, converting all but two save opportunities with a 1.76 ERA and 5.28 K/9 rate. The strikeouts haven't been there yet for Clase and his velocity is down by 1-2 MPH on both his cutter and slider, but it's hard to complain too much when he has pitched so well. The strikeouts will likely come up over time and he should continue to be a top-tier fantasy closer.

In his last seven appearances, Clase molds a 1.29 ERA with two walks and five strikeouts. Tue Mar 21 202316:24Emmanuel Clase Having Below-Average Spring
Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase has pitched to a 4.50 ERA during six spring games. He has a 1.33 WHIP and four strikeouts over six innings pitched. It's not a great start for Clase, but it's nothing to worry about here. As with most spring stats, don't look too much into them. The 2022 Mariano Rivera American League Reliever of the Year should be fine for the start of the season and is just getting in the work required to be ready for another dominant year. Clase is one of the top closers in the game and should be one of the first couple taken in fantasy drafts. His 1.36 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and league-leading 42 saves from a year ago put him in the upper tier again this year.

Tue Dec 6 202216:35Emmanuel Clase Named AL Reliever Of The Year
Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase was named the 2022 Mariano Rivera American League Reliever of the Year Award on Tuesday. Clase is a first-time recipient of the award, and the 24-year-old was also named an All-Star for the first time in his career in 2022. He had a sparkling 1.36 ERA and led the majors with 42 saves for the Guardians. His 77 appearances were tied with Toronto Blue Jays reliever Adam Cimber for the most by any player, and Clase's 67 games finished were 13 more than any other pitcher. In the last two seasons, Clase has posted a 1.33 ERA in 148 outings while racking up 77 strikeouts in 72 2/3 innings. Clase has become one of the most attractive closers in fantasy.

Fri Oct 14 202218:56Emmanuel Clase Goes 2.1 Innings In Friday's Victory
Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase was tasked with pitching the last 2.1 innings of Friday's 4-2 Division Series game two win against the New York Yankees. He was the winning pitcher and ended up throwing 33 pitches while recording two strikeouts and allowing one walk. Clase has cemented himself as one of the best relievers in baseball after pitching to a 1.36 ERA with 42 saves, 77 strikeouts, and a 0.73 WHIP across 72.2 IP in 2022. Because of the big workload Friday, he might be unavailable in Saturday's contest, so it might be a good idea to look elsewhere for relief help.

Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase picked up his 42nd save of the season in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Royals. He came in to pitch the ninth inning up by three. He allowed a leadoff single, had runners on first and third after a fielder's choice error, and then allowed the unearned runner to score on a force-out at second before getting the final two outs on strikeouts. The 24-year-old has been a fantastic fantasy option this season and currently has the most saves in baseball to go with a 1.36 ERA and 9.54 K/9 rate. Clase should be considered one of baseball's most reliable high-end closers heading into 2023.

The 24-year-old has delivered on his high fantasy expectations this season, converting all but three save opportunities with a 1.34 ERA and a 9.20 K/9 rate. Clase has been excellent once again this season, converting 19 of 21 save opportunities with a 1.41 ERA and 28.3% strikeout rate. Cleveland Guardians reliever Emmanuel Clase pitched a clean ninth inning of Friday's 6-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles to earn his eighth save of the season. Although Clase ranks just 18th in saves, he's putting up fantastic numbers for the second year in a row, posting a 2.21 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and 28.4% strikeout rate. He should be a four-category contributor going forward and a must-start in all formats.

Mon May 23 202214:29Emmanuel Clase Providing Quality Production
Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase is off to a strong start this season. In 15.1 innings so far in 2022, the reliever has pitched to a 2.93 ERA and a 2.45 FIP. He's also logged a 0.98 WHIP and has just 12 hits, five earned runs, and one home run. What's more, he's converted seven of his nine save chances and has given up just one earned run in his last 10.2 innings of work. He's entrenched as the closer in Cleveland and should continue to produce like one of the elite options at his position for fantasy managers.

Tue May 10 202200:56Emmanuel Clase Blows Save, Earns Win Monday
Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase ended up earning the win in Monday's 12-9 extra-innings game against the White Sox. Clase came on to pitch the 10th inning with a one-run lead and a ghost runner on second. He allowed a leadoff single, allowed the tying run to score on a fielder's choice hit to him, got the first out on a sac bunt, intentionally walked the bases loaded, then got the next two outs on force outs to keep the game tied. The Guardians were able to take the lead in the 11th and ultimately finished the game, making Clase the winning pitcher of record. It wasn't his best performance, but Clase has still pitched well, compiling a 2.92 ERA to go with six of eight save opportunities converted. He remains a higher-end fantasy closer option.

Mon Apr 18 202208:37Emmanuel Clase Still Awaiting First Save Chance
Cleveland Guardians relief pitcher Emmanuel Clase has yet to receive a save opportunity on the season. Each of the team's four victories on the year have come in games in which the score was too lopsided headed into the ninth inning for a save opportunity to arise. Last Monday, Clase entered the game in the ninth while the team had a 10-5 lead and last Wednesday, he entered the game in the ninth while the team had a four-run lead. Clase converted 24 of his 29 save opportunities in 2021 while pitching to a 1.29 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP. He's the clear closer for the Guardians and fantasy managers can safely expect for him to start racking up saves soon.
