Sat Apr 22 202318:17Manny Machado Out Of Lineup Saturday
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado is receiving a day off on Saturday. It doesn't seem to be injury related, instead just a routine off-day for Machado. He has struggled to start the season, with a .221/.253/.291 slash line but should turn that around in due time. Machado has hit third in the lineup in the two games Fernando Tatis Jr. has played. The Padres are going with Trent Grisham, Tatis Jr., and Juan Soto in the top three for Saturday night's game.

Tue Mar 14 202300:10Manny Machado Homers For Dominican Republic Monday
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado played his part offensively Monday in Team Dominican Republic's 6-1 World Baseball Classic win over Team Nicaragua. Machado went 2-for-5 with a double and a solo home run, his first of the spring. The 30-year-old had an outstanding 2022 season, slashing .298/.366/.531 with 32 HR, 102 RBI, and nine stolen bases. He is currently being drafted at about pick 14 overall, making him the third baseman drafted. The position is quite top-heavy and shallow overall, so Machado should be able to provide ample fantasy value once again in 2023.

Sun Feb 26 202311:01Padres, Manny Machado Finalizing 11-Year Extension
The San Diego Padres and star third baseman Manny Machado are finalizing an 11-year, $350 million contract extension on Sunday, according to sources familiar with the deal. Machado has helped turn around the franchise and was planning on opting out of his previous deal after the 2023 season. The 30-year-old All-Star had six years and $180 million left on his previous deal with the Friars. Machado should finish his career in San Diego now as the franchise looks to win their first championship. In 2022, he hit .298/.366/.531 with an .898 OPS, 32 home runs, 102 RBI, 100 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 150 games in his fourth year with the Padres. Machado is easily a top-20 fantasy asset in SD's stacked lineup.

Wed Feb 22 202300:35Manny Machado Is Padres' "Top Priority"
While not going into much detail, San Diego Padres owner Peter Seidler said Tuesday that third baseman Manny Machado is the team's "top priority." Machado recently informed the team that he intends to opt out of the remaining five years and $150 million of his contract after the 2023 season unless an extension or restructuring of that contract is agreed upon. The Padres do seem open to negotiating during the season. It makes sense that Machado, who is 30 years old, would look to get an even richer deal after slashing .298/.366/.531 with 32 home runs, 102 RBI and nine steals in 2022 while also being an excellent fielder. His fantasy value will be high regardless of where he plays, but he will certainly benefit from hitting in a strong lineup like the Padres'.

Fri Feb 17 202311:01Manny Machado Plans To Opt Out Of Contract
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado publicly confirmed that he's told the team that he plans to opt out of his contract. He declined to get into negotiations on a potential long-term extension with the team, but he did say that he'd still like to play for the organization as long as new teammate Nelson Cruz has. Machado has a 10-year, $300 million contract that runs through the 2028 season, but he has an opt-out clause after the 2023 season and plans to use it. The Padres could easily figure out a lucrative long-term extension to keep the 30-year-old in town, but how much money do they actually have left available to them? Machado is one of the best hitters in the game in one of the best lineups in the game. He is ranked as the No. 15 overall fantasy player by RotoBaller for the 2023 season, so he won't last long in fantasy drafts.

Thu Feb 9 202318:17Padres Expected To Explore Extension With Manny Machado Soon
The San Diego Padres are expected to explore a long-term contract extension with franchise third baseman Manny Machado before Opening Day. Machado can opt out of his contract after the 2023 season, and making him a Padre for the rest of his career might require a new deal of at least six or seven years with an average annual value exceeding $30 million. Owner Peter Seidler isn't afraid to empty his pockets and has already said he plans to keep Machado for the long haul. If the Padres don't want to let one of the best all-around hitters reach the open market next offseason, they'll probably need to lock Machado in before the start of the season. In fantasy drafts, Machado should come off the board early in the second round.

Sun Oct 23 202201:19Manny Machado Homers In Game 4
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado has been the best offensive performer for his team this postseason, and he continued to be productive in NLCS Game 4 on Saturday night when he went 2-for-4 with a home run, though the Philadelphia Phillies were victorious by a score of 10-6. Machado has slashed .295/.354/.636 with four home runs in 44 playoff at-bats. He'll have at least one more opportunity to add to those numbers as the Padres look to avoid elimination against Zack Wheeler in Game 5.

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado contributed across the stat sheet Thursday, going 1-for-2 with a solo home run, two walks, and a stolen base in a 5-4 defeat to the St. Louis Cardinals. Machado now has 30 homers and eight stolen bases this season. If the season were to end today, his .900 OPS would be the third-best mark of his career. He should remain a consideration in the top portion of fantasy drafts heading into the 2023 season.

Thu Sep 22 202219:38Manny Machado Smacks 30th Home Run Thursday
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado reached base three times on Thursday, going 1-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base during the 5-4 loss against the St. Louis Cardinals. His lone hit was a solo home run, his 30th of the season, marking the sixth time in his 11-season career he's reached that total. Machado has contributed in every category, as he's batting .296 with 94 RBI, 92 runs, and eight steals over 139 games. Fantasy managers should start the 30-year-old every day and benefit from his incredible offensive numbers.

Sun Sep 11 202200:44Manny Machado Homers Twice
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado slugged a pair of solo home runs on Saturday, but it wasn't enough as his club fell to the Dodgers 8-4. He victimized starter Julio Urias with a shot off the Western Metal Supply Co. building in the third before crushing a 412' bomb to right-center in the sixth. The two long balls now give him 28 on the year to go along with 87 runs, 90 RBI, seven steals, and a .303 batting average through 129 games played. A chance for a .300/30/100/100 campaign is certainly attainable at this point, and it would mark the first time in his career he would reach all of those marks in one season.

Thu Aug 4 202213:54Manny Machado Breaks Out With Homer, Three Hits
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado has struggled of late, which may have played some role in general manager AJ Preller's spending spree at the trade deadline, but Machado was at his best on Wednesday as he went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and two runs scored. He now has 19 homers this year and has gone deep three times in his past seven games, so it looks as though he's turning the corner. Machado should enjoy an explosive end to his fantasy season with so much strength in the lineup around him.

Wed Jul 27 202211:05Manny Machado At DH Against Tigers
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (ankle) is serving as the designated hitter and batting third on Wednesday against Detroit Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal. Skipper Bob Melvin said that Machado tweaked his ankle in the 10th inning of the 6-4 win over Detroit on Tuesday, but it's a good sign that he's at least back in the starting lineup the next day in a matinee contest. The Padres also have an off day on Thursday, so the 30-year-old All-Star should be fine for the weekend series against the Minnesota Twins. Although Machado is hitting just .215 (17-for-79) with four home runs and eight RBI in 21 games in the month of July, he should be in all fantasy lineups in single-year formats.

Wed Jul 27 202200:08Manny Machado Tweaks Left Ankle Tuesday
San Diego Padres manager Bob Melvin said that third baseman Manny Machado (ankle) tweaked his left ankle "a little bit" hitting the first-base bag as he reached on an error in the 10th inning of Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Tigers, per the Athletic's Dennis Lin. This doesn't sound like a serious issue, but the team will re-evaluate him Wednesday morning. Machado went 2-for-5 with two singles in the game. The 30-year-old is having another great season, slashing .301/.372/.509 with 16 home runs, 54 RBI, and seven stolen bases. Fantasy managers should have a clearer picture tomorrow morning, but hopefully, he won't end up having to miss any time.

Fri Jul 1 202221:09Manny Machado Not In Lineup Friday
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (ankle) is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Machado returned to action on Thursday as the DH after missing over a week, going 1-for-4 with a double, a run, and three strikeouts but will be sidelined yet again on Friday. The Padres are likely easing Machado back into action after his ankle sprain as there has been no indication that he aggravated the injury on Thursday. Saturday's lineup will be a good indication as to where Machado's ankle stands moving forward.

Tue Jun 28 202218:20Manny Machado Sitting Tuesday, But Getting Close
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (ankle) will remain on the bench for Tuesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 29-year-old is nearly 10 days removed from suffering an ankle sprain and he hasn't played since. On Tuesday, he continued to increase his pre-game workouts. He ran the bases, took grounders and threw to first without showing any noticeable pain. According to Padres beat writer Kevin Acee, it was the first time Machado looked like he was ready to play since he sustained the injury. Based on his increased work and Acee's report, it seems as if there's a good chance we see Machado back on the field for Wednesday's series finale. Make sure to be on the lookout for Wednesday's lineup card.

Sat Jun 25 202218:42Manny Machado Takes Batting Practice, Remains Out Saturday
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (ankle) took batting practice before Saturday's game but remains out of the lineup against the Philadelphia Phillies. The 29-year-old fantasy star is inching his way back to the starting lineup after spraining his ankle last Sunday. It seems like Machado will indeed end up avoiding the injured list, which is what the Padres were hoping for. If things go well, we could see Machado back in the starting lineup very soon, possibly even Sunday. Keep a close eye on his status in the coming days, and get him back in your lineup as soon as he returns.

Thu Jun 23 202218:30Manny Machado Remains Out Against Phillies
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (ankle) remains out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the Philadelphia Phillies. Machado will miss his fourth straight game after spraining his left ankle on Sunday. The Padres have been optimistic that the 29-year-old superstar won't go on the injured list, fantasy managers have to wonder if will actually happen with each passing day that he's not back in the lineup. Machado is firmly in the mix for National League MVP in the first half of the season, as he's hit .328/.400/.545 with a .945 OPS, 12 home runs, 46 RBI, 48 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 66 games. Sergio Alcantara will play the hot corner and bat ninth on Thursday against Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez. Alcantara has just 14 hits and one long ball in 84 at-bats this year and is a DFS option to avoid.

Wed Jun 22 202213:16Manny Machado Sitting In Series Finale
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (ankle) remains out of the starting lineup on Wednesday in the series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Machado hasn't played since suffering a sprained left ankle on Sunday in the loss to the Colorado Rockies, but the Padres remain optimistic that he won't need a stint on the injured list. Ha-Seong Kim will start at the hot corner and hit fifth, while rookie C.J. Abrams is starting at shortstop and batting ninth on Wednesday against Diamondbacks left-hander Madison Bumgarner. Machado is in the running for National League MVP so far in the first half of the season and is a must-start once he returns from his injury. Kim's season-long numbers don't impress, but he's hitting .333 in the last two weeks and has been much better against left-handers in 2022.

Wed Jun 8 202209:09Manny Machado Drives In Two On Tuesday
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado helped the team defeat the New York Mets 7-0 on Tuesday. He went 1-for-4 with a two-run single in the game. Prior to that stretch, he was hitting .358/.430/.576 on the year, but his recent struggles have seen his season-long slash line drop to .325/.399/.534. Machado has nine home runs, 34 RBI and 38 runs over 54 games on the year and he currently has a career-high .400 wOBA that ranks in the top 5% of the league.
