Sun Sep 19 202122:07Jose Berrios Picks Up Win Over Former Team
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Jose Berrios picked up his 12th win of the season on Sunday as his club defeated his former Minnesota Twins team 5-3. The right-hander gave up three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out six over 6 2/3 IP, marking his fifth-straight game registering a quality start. He was handed a five-run lead after the first, so he was able to cruise through most of the start until a home run in the seventh ended his night after 100 pitches. Berrios is having another solid fantasy campaign in his age-27 season with a 3.45 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 187 K in 180 IP in 30 starts this season. Tue Sep 14 202121:47Jose Berrios Experiences Abdominal Tightness On Tuesday
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Jose Berrios (abdomen) was dealing with abdominal tightness during his start against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. According to Blue Jays beat writer Rob Longley, the abdominal tightness is what caused Berrios to be removed from the game after seven innings. Berrios had a strong outing in Tuesday's game. He pitched seven innings and allowed four hits, no walks and one earned run while striking out four. He went on to receive treatment for the injury after the game. There is no word at this point in regards to the severity of the injury. We should know more soon. As of now, he is still lined up to make his next start against the Rays on Monday.

Sat Sep 4 202121:26Jose Berrios Notches 10th Win
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Jose Berrios picked up his 10th win of the season on Saturday as his club defeated the Athletics 10-8. The right-hander lasted 6 2/3 innings while giving up three runs on four hits, no walks, and seven strikeouts in the 103-pitch effort. He surrendered just two hits and a run before entering the seventh where he ran into a bit of trouble by allowing a pair of hits and a run to score before the bullpen let one of his inherited runners to also score. The Jays have got both the good and bad versions of Berrios so far since his acquisition at the deadline, but all in all he's posted a sharp 3.55 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 169 K through 159 2/3 IP. He'll get the Yankees in his upcoming start next week in the Bronx.

Tue Aug 24 202123:03Jose Berrios Lasts Three Innings Tuesday
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Jose Berrios had a rough outing versus the White Sox on Tuesday, allowing four runs over three innings pitched in the club's 5-2 loss. He gave up a whopping nine hits including three-straight to begin the game and six total in a four-run first inning. The bright spot was Berrios struck out six batters without issuing a free pass before getting pulled after throwing 68 pitches. After dominating his first two starts as a Jay, Berrios has struggled over his last three outings with 12 ER in 12 1/3 IP to push his ERA up to 3.70 on the year. Managers should stay the course with the right-hander as he'll have a chance to right his ship with a matchup versus the Tigers this weekend.

The right-hander finished the afternoon with five hits and three walks allowed while striking out three in the 88-pitch effort before the Nats blew the game open against the Jays bullpen. Fri Aug 13 202109:13Jose Berrios Struggles Versus Angels
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Jose Berrios wasn't at his sharpest on Thursday, allowing six runs over 4 1/3 IP in a 6-3 loss. The right-hander had one terrible inning in the second where he allowed four runs as he finished the night giving up eight hits and four walks while striking out three in the underwhelming effort. Berrios was dominant in his first two outings with Toronto, but he's proven to be susceptible to these type of starts despite holding a sharp 3.52 ERA and 1.09 WHIP on the year. He'll look to bounce back in a favorable matchup on the road versus the Nationals next week.

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Jose Berrios was excellent in Saturday's second game of a doubleheader, allowing one run over six innings pitched. The right-hander was saddled with a no-decision since the club lost 2-1 in extras, but it was a terrific start nonetheless. He struck out six batters with no walks while allowing five hits as the only damage came from an Alex Verdugo home run in the sixth. Berrios has now allowed just one run over 12 innings with a 13/1 K/BB in his first two starts with his new club, perhaps getting a mental boost now that he's thrown into a playoff race. He'll look to keep his momentum going in his next scheduled start versus the Mariners.

The right-hander allowed five hits and one walk while striking out seven batters in the 95-pitch outing as he improved his record to 8-5 on the year. With the move to the AL East, Berrios will face some stiffer competition than his regular AL Central foes, but he should see more wins now that he's backed by one of the league's brightest offenses.
