Tue May 7 | 19:23 | Drew Smyly, Jordan Wicks Throwing Bullpens Tuesday | Drew Smyly | SP | Cubs | Free Agent |
| | | Jordan Wicks | SP | Cubs | Free Agent |
Chicago Cubs left-handers Drew Smyly (hip) and Jordan Wicks (forearm) were both scheduled to throw bullpen sessions on Tuesday. Wicks went on the injured list over a week ago with a strained left forearm but is already good to throw off a mound, so it sounds as though his injury isn't very serious. However, the 24-year-old southpaw could need a minor-league rehab assignment before the Cubs feel comfortable returning him to their starting rotation. Smyly, 34, is recovering from a right-hip impingement and has already missed several weeks. Because Smyly is a reliever, he may not need as lengthy of a rehab assignment before rejoining Chicago's bullpen. In a starting role, Wicks is more attractive in fantasy in deeper leagues. He had a 4.70 ERA with a 1.52 WHIP and 28 K's in five starts before his injury. |

Tue May 7 | 19:18 | Seiya Suzuki Starting Rehab Assignment Wednesday | Seiya Suzuki | CF | Cubs | Free Agent |
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (oblique) will start a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday. Suzuki has been away from the team for almost three weeks due to a right-oblique strain, but barring a setback in the minors this week, the 29-year-old outfielder could come off the 10-day injured list and return to Chicago's lineup this weekend. When he's back, Suzuki will return to an everyday role in the Cubbies' outfield, potentially pushing rookie Pete Crow-Armstrong back to the minor leagues now that Cody Bellinger (ribs) is also back. The Japanese right-handed hitter was batting a strong .305 (18-for-59) with three home runs, 13 RBI and 11 runs scored in his first 15 games for the Cubs before injuring his oblique. Hopefully, he can pick up where he left off when he returns to Chicago. |

Tue May 7 | 19:09 | Gerrit Cole Throws Another Bullpen On Tuesday | Gerrit Cole | SP | Yankees | Free Agent |
New York Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole (elbow) threw another bullpen session on Tuesday. Manager Aaron Boone said the plan is for Cole to travel with the team to Tampa and throw another bullpen session this weekend. Cole threw off a mound for the first time last Saturday and continues to progress from a right-elbow injury that landed him on the injured list to begin the 2024 season. The 33-year-old still has a ways to go before he's able to make his season debut, but he's making progress and is currently on track to return to the Yankees' starting rotation in mid-June. Fantasy baseball managers must remain patient, though, as the Yankees aren't going to rush last year's American League Cy Young winner back too soon. Keep him stashed everywhere. |

Tue May 7 | 19:04 | Gabriel Moreno Out Sick Tuesday | Gabriel Moreno | C | Blue Jays | Free Agent |
Updating a previous report, Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno (illness) is under the weather and is getting the day off on Tuesday against the Cincinnati Reds, according to manager Torey Lovullo. The hope is that Moreno will be back in the lineup on Wednesday. He's available off the bench on Tuesday, Lovullo said. It's the second straight day that Moreno will be on the bench, as he was also given the day off in the series finale on Sunday against the San Diego Padres. Tucker Barnhart got the start behind the dish and is hitting eighth in the order against Reds right-hander Frankie Montas, who is making his first start since coming off the injured list. The 24-year-old Moreno is hitting .241 (21-for-87) with 14 RBI, but he has yet to clear the fences in 2024. |

Tue May 7 | 18:56 | J.P. Crawford Swinging In A Batting Cage | J.P. Crawford | SS | Mariners | Free Agent |
Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (oblique) was able to take swings in the batting cage on Tuesday. Manager Scott Servais mentioned that Crawford should be able to start swinging on the field this weekend. If he's 100 percent this weekend then Crawford should be able to go on a rehab assignment next week. Crawford has been out of the lineup since late April due to an oblique injury. Dylan Moore will cover shortstop and bat eighth versus right-hander Bailey Ober on Tuesday. |

Tue May 7 | 18:46 | Cal Raleigh Resting On Tuesday | Cal Raleigh | C | Mariners | Free Agent |
Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Minnesota Twins. The switch-hitting backstop will get a day off after going 2-for-15 over his last four games. To be fair, Raleigh did have two home runs during that span which is what he's known for doing. Seby Zavala will be behind the plate and bat ninth versus right-hander Bailey Ober. |

Tue May 7 | 18:40 | Cristian Javier To Return This Weekend | Cristian Javier | SP | Astros | Free Agent |
Houston Astros starting pitcher Cristian Javier (neck) is scheduled to make his return to the mound this weekend. The 27-year-old appears to be ready to pitch after making a rehab start in Double-A on Saturday. This is good news for the Astros who have a banged up rotation right now. Javier will get a favorable matchup against the Detroit Tigers. There shouldn't be any restrictions on Javier, so fantasy managers should feel safe plugging him right back into their lineups. |

Tue May 7 | 18:28 | Luis Arraez Absent On Tuesday | Luis Arraez | 2B | Twins | Free Agent |
San Diego Padres second baseman Luis Arraez (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Chicago Cubs. This appears to be a routine rest day for Arraez against tough left-hander Shota Imanaga. The 27-year-old infielder was acquired by the Padres over the weekend. He has five hits and one RBI since joining the team. In his absence, Xander Bogaerts will cover second base and bat fifth on Tuesday. |

Tue May 7 | 18:24 | Chris Martin Available On Tuesday | Chris Martin | RP | Cubs | Free Agent |
Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Chris Martin (shoulder) is available ahead of Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Braves. The right-hander was held out over the weekend due to soreness in his shoulder. There was some thought that Martin would be placed on the injured list. Instead, Martin appears to be feeling better and is ready for the series opener versus Atlanta. His return is a significant boost to the Red Sox bullpen. |

Tue May 7 | 18:17 | Jorge Soler Remains Out On Tuesday | Jorge Soler | RF | Marlins | Free Agent |
San Francisco Giants outfielder Jorge Soler (shoulder) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies. The 32-year-old has been sidelined since last weekend due to a right shoulder issue. For now, Soler is considered as day-to-day and should be available off the bench. In the meantime, Wilmer Flores will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth versus right-hander Dakota Hudson. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly. |

Tue May 7 | 17:17 | J.T. Realmuto, Alec Bohm Resting Tuesday | J.T. Realmuto | C | Phillies | Free Agent |
| | | Alec Bohm | 3B | Phillies | Free Agent |
Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto and third baseman Alec Bohm are both getting the day off on Tuesday against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays. Outfielder Johan Rojas is also sitting. Garrett Stubbs is catching and hitting ninth, Kody Clemens is at third base and is batting eighth, and Brandon Marsh is in center field and hitting fifth against Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios. Whit Merrifield is also in left field and in the two-hole. This will be Bohm's first day off since April 15 after he broke his 18-game hitting streak with an 0-for-4 performance in Monday's win over the Giants. Merrifield could be a popular DFS play on Tuesday with a .354 average and .936 OPS with a home run and eight RBI in 48 career at-bats against Berrios. |

Tue May 7 | 17:12 | Luis Rengifo, Taylor Ward Out Tuesday | Taylor Ward | LF/RF | Angels | Free Agent |
| | | Luis Rengifo | SS | Angels | Free Agent |
Los Angeles Angels infielder Luis Rengifo (illness) and outfielder Taylor Ward are not starting for the Angels on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Rengifo has been out since coming down with an illness on Saturday. Ward appears to be getting a regular day of rest. Cole Tucker is starting at third base and is batting eighth, while Kevin Pillar is in left field and is batting fifth against Pirates right-hander Quinn Priester. When Rengifo gets over his illness, he should be a lineup regular for the Halos due to injuries and the fact he's hitting .330 (30-for-91) with two homers, 11 RBI and nine stolen bases so far in 2024. Ward, who is batting .271/.302/.471 with seven home runs and 24 RBI, will be counted on for even more production in the heart of the team's batting order with Mike Trout (knee) out. |

Tue May 7 | 16:55 | Cody Bellinger Activated From Injured List | Cody Bellinger | CF | Dodgers | Free Agent |
The Chicago Cubs have activated outfielder Cody Bellinger (ribs) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned outfielder Alexander Canario to the minors in a corresponding move. The club also placed pitcher Daniel Palencia (shoulder) on the IL with shoulder stiffness and recalled pitcher Keegan Thompson from the minors. The Cubs haven't posted their starting lineup on Tuesday against the visiting San Diego Padres yet, but if Bellinger is back in there, fantasy managers will want to get him right back in their lineups as well. The 28-year-old left-handed slugger is returning from a fracture in his right ribcage and will start regularly in center field now that he's back. Rookie Pete Crow-Armstrong and Mike Tauchman could now be battling for more playing time with Bellinger back. |

Tue May 7 | 16:48 | Alek Thomas Feeling More Hamstring Discomfort | Alek Thomas | CF | Diamondbacks | Free Agent |
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Alek Thomas (hamstring) felt more discomfort in his left hamstring and is headed back to Phoenix to be re-evaluated, according to manager Torey Lovullo. Thomas was on a minor-league rehab assignment and was expected to rejoin the big-league club on Tuesday in Cincinnati, but that won't be the case now. The 24-year-old first injured his hamstring on March 31 and had only played in four rehab games with Triple-A Reno. There's a chance he'll now have to restart a rehab assignment. As long as Thomas continues to sit out, Corbin Carroll should handle center field in Arizona, with Jake McCarthy and Randal Grichuk seeing more time in the outfield as well. Thomas is a defense-first player, so he can remain on waiver wires in mixed fantasy leagues. |

Tue May 7 | 16:38 | Diamondbacks Reinstate Paul Sewald From Injured List | Paul Sewald | RP | Mariners | Free Agent |
The Arizona Diamondbacks officially reinstated closer Paul Sewald (oblique) from the 15-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned right-hander Scott McGough to Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move. Sewald has returned from his oblique strain and should immediately return to closing duties for the Diamondbacks out of the bullpen, although he could see some extra days off as he gets eased back into the fold. In his absence, Kevin Ginkel had five saves in his 14 appearances, but he'll now go back into more of a setup role in front of Sewald. Sewald will be making his 2024 debut for the Snakes when he gets into a game after posting a career-high 34 saves with the D-backs and Seattle Mariners in 2023. Thirteen of his 34 saves came during the regular season with Arizona. |

Tue May 7 | 16:32 | Gabriel Moreno Sitting Against Reds | Gabriel Moreno | C | Blue Jays | Free Agent |
Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno is not in the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Cincinnati Reds. Tucker Barnhart will do the catching for right-hander Zac Gallen and will hit eighth against Reds right-hander Frankie Montas. It's the second straight game that Moreno will take a seat on the bench in favor of Barnhart. The D-backs are just trying to give the young catcher some extra rest early in the season. The 24-year-old should be back in there on Wednesday. Through his first 87 at-bats of the year, he's hitting .241/.340/.322 with no home runs and 14 RBI. Barnhart is hitting .750 in four career at-bats against Montas but will be a low-upside play in DFS at the bottom of Arizona's lineup. |

Tue May 7 | 16:22 | Corbin Carroll Back In Leadoff Spot Tuesday | Corbin Carroll | CF | Diamondbacks | Free Agent |
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll has returned to the leadoff spot for the Diamondbacks on Tuesday against the Cincinnati Reds and right-hander Frankie Montas, who is making his first start since returning from the injured list. The 23-year-old also continues to start in center field for Arizona. It's the first time since April 22 that Carroll has higher than seventh in the batting order. The Snakes moved last year's National League Rookie of the Year down in the lineup after his early season struggles in 2024. Since April 22, Carroll has gone just 7-for-40 (.175) with just one extra-base hit (a double) and two RBI, but perhaps his move back to the top of the order will get him going again. It will certainly make the former 16th overall pick more attractive in all fantasy formats with more chances for at-bats. |

Tue May 7 | 16:10 | Ian Gibaut Moved To 60-Day Injured List | Ian Gibaut | RP/SP | Reds | Free Agent |
In a flurry of roster moves by the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday, right-hander Ian Gibaut (forearm) was transferred to the 60-day injured list. The Reds also optioned infielder/outfielder Nick Martini and outfielder Bubba Thompson to Triple-A Louisville and Double-A Chattanooga, respectively, and selected the contract of outfielder Conner Capel from Louisville. Gibaut is dealing with a lingering strained right forearm after he was initially shut down from throwing in late April. The 30-year-old now won't be eligible to come off the IL until late May, and even that seems optimistic with the way his recovery has gone this year. Gibaut was a key pitcher for the Reds in 2023, going 8-4 with a 3.33 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP, three saves and a career-high 69 strikeouts in 75 2/3 frames in 74 relief appearances. |

Tue May 7 | 16:05 | Jeimer Candelario Back In Action Tuesday | Jeimer Candelario | 3B | Tigers | Free Agent |
Cincinnati Reds corner infielder Jeimer Candelario (shin) is back at third base and is hitting eighth in the batting order on Tuesday against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks and right-hander Zac Gallen. Candelario was scratched from Sunday's lineup with a left-shin contusion but is good to go now after Monday's scheduled off day. The 30-year-old will now look to get going at the plate after starting his first year in Cincinnati slow. However, he has gone 6-for-18 with a home run in his last five contests, so perhaps he's already starting to heat up. The switch-hitter is currently slashing .190/.274/.360 with three homers and 10 RBI in his first 100 at-bats in 2024. It's a tough matchup in his return from injury, and he's gone hitless in three career at-bats against Gallen. |

Tue May 7 | 15:11 | Tyler Nevin, Shea Langeliers Sitting On Tuesday | Tyler Nevin | 1B | Orioles | Free Agent |
| | | Shea Langeliers | C | Athletics | Free Agent |
Oakland Athletics corner infielder/outfielder Tyler Nevin and catcher Shea Langeliers are both starting on the bench on Tuesday against the visiting Texas Rangers. Nevin will head to the bench after going hitless in his last 14 at-bats. Despite his recent slump, the 26-year-old is still slashing a solid .277/.349/.426 on the year with four home runs, 10 RBI, a steal and 11 runs scored in 94 at-bats for the A's. Langeliers will get the day off in a day game after a night game. He's hitting just .179 (19-for-106) on the year but has shown nice power with seven homers and 16 RBI in the early going. Brett Harris is starting at third base and batting ninth, while Kyle McCann is doing the catching and hitting sixth for the A's on Tuesday against Rangers right-hander Jose Urena. |
