Tue Dec 27 201103:09Murphy could be needed on Tuesday vs. POR
Troy Murphy scored eight points on 3-of-7 shooting (including a three) with eight rebounds and a block in 24 minutes off the bench on Monday.
Murphy may also get some help if Josh McRoberts (toe) cannot play on Tuesday. Give him a look if you need a forward in the short-term, as the Lakers still have four games left this week and are banged up in the frontcourt.

Sun Dec 25 201120:23Troy Murphy scores seven points off bench
Troy Murphy had seven points (3-of-5 shooting), eight rebounds and one block in his debut with the Lakers on Sunday.
The absence of Andrew Bynum gave Murphy a bigger role, and as long as he's healthy he should lock up 15-20 minutes in a reserve role. He attempted one 3-pointer tonight, which he missed -- keep an eye on his attempts from downtown, as they've always been a staple of his fantasy appeal.

Thu Dec 22 201103:20Troy Murphy productive for Lakers
Troy Murphy had five points, five rebounds and a 3-pointer in 18 minutes of Wednesday's loss to the Clippers.
He was mostly just getting abused by Blake Griffin, but with Andrew Bynum suspended for five games, look for Murphy and Josh McRoberts to get plenty of run (and starts) at PF for the first five games. The Lakers start off with a six-game Week 1, so Murphy (and Mac) could be worth a spot start in some leagues.

Tue Dec 20 201102:12Murphy makes Lakers debut in preseason
Troy Murphy made his Lakers debut in Monday's preseason game against the Clippers with nine minutes of action.
Murphy will battle Josh McRoberts for the backup PF job, and with the clear advantage McBob has on Murphy everywhere besides the 3-point line we like him to win out. Murphy will be a situational deep threat, with little to no fantasy value.

Sun Dec 18 201119:07Troy Murphy claims to be 100% healthy
Newly-acquired Lakers PF Troy Murphy says that he is 100% healthy.
Murphy concedes that he was mostly signed to spread the court for Kobe, Pau and Andrew, as he's one of the league's best 3-point shooting big men. Given such a questionable role, there is little upside for fantasy owners even if he is 100% healthy.

Sat Dec 17 201115:31Troy Murphy, Lakers agree to one-year deal
Troy Murphy and the Lakers have agreed on a one-year contract.
Murphy is a nice addition for L.A. if he's healthy, as he's a great rebounder with 3-point range. He's not a great defender, though, and isn't likely to appease Kobe Bryant, who reportedly wants the Lakers to upgrade. Skip him in fantasy leagues, unless Pau Gasol gets hurt.

Fri May 13 201116:40Troy Murphy to become unrestricted FA
Celtics big man Troy Murphy will become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Murphy's stock fell sharply last season, as he struggled with injuries and poor conditioning, but he just turned 31 years old and should attract a number of offers on the open market.

Tue Apr 5 201117:50Troy Murphy will return for Celtics on Tues.
Troy Murphy (ankle) will return on Tuesday night when the Celtics play the Sixers.
He barely made his presence felt before sustaining an ankle injury, but has no business being near a fantasy lineup right now.

Mon Apr 4 201116:37Murphy practices with Celtics
Troy Murphy (ankle) returned to Celtics practice Monday.
As long as Murphy's ankle doesn't swell overnight, he'll be a go for Tuesday's game against the Sixers. Note that Murphy is averaging just 10.5 minutes per game since joining the Celtics.

Mon Apr 4 201112:16Troy Murphy close to re-joining Celtics
According to Doc Rivers, Troy Murphy (ankle) is very close to re-joining the Celtics and could be ready to go as soon as Tuesday night.
This obviously has more of an impact for the Celtics than it does fantasy teams, as Murphy has proven that he's just about useless to owners since his arrival in Boston. Fortunately for the Celtics, his return couldn't come at a better time with the injury uncertainty along the team's front line.

Sat Mar 26 201114:09Troy Murphy (ankle) out indefinitely
Troy Murphy (sprained ankle) is not expected to travel on Boston's upcoming four-game roadtrip, and there is no firm timetable for his return.
Murphy is still in a walking boot and said he is "struggling to walk right now," so it's unlikely we'll see him any time soon. Shaq and J.O. both nearing their own returns from injury, fortunately, and it's possible Murphy won't even be part of the postseason rotation.

Thu Mar 24 201115:17Troy Murphy rolls ankle in practice
Troy Murphy rolled his right ankle during Thursday's practice and is day-to-day.
Murphy is averaging just 10.5 minutes a night in 11 games with the Celtics. And that has been with both O'Neals out. The Celts won't miss him if he ends up sidelined by this sprain.

Thu Mar 24 201100:04Troy Murphy hits rock bottom in loss
Troy Murphy played four minutes, committed two turnovers and did nothing else on Wednesday.
Maybe there's a reason Avery Johnson refused to use Murphy early in the year. If you're still waiting for a Murphy miracle, the dream is over.

Fri Mar 11 201110:22Celtics planning on nine-man playoff rotation
Doc Rivers intends to use a nine-man rotation in the playoffs, which Celtics' writer Brendan Murphy speculates will not include Troy Murphy, Jermaine O'Neal, Von Wafer, or Carlos Arroyo.
When J.O. returns (and if he stays healthy) he could see action against bigger, more physical teams, but fantasy owners can write him off for the season. Rivers was pretty blunt about the choice he faces, saying, "All the guys we don't need to fit...I have 20 games to figure out which ones have the value."

Thu Mar 10 201100:21Murphy not playing much for Celtics
Troy Murphy played just five minutes and didn't score or rebound in Wednesday's loss.
So much for him getting minutes at center and contributing. Maybe he's lost it over the last year, maybe he has no stamina after sitting out all season, or maybe Doc Rivers just doesn't have much use for him. Either way, it looks like his move to Boston is not going to a great one for him in terms of fantasy.

Sun Mar 6 201110:22Troy Murphy 0-of-7 as a Celtic
Troy Murphy is 0-of-7 from the field in two games with the Celtics.
Murphy and the Celtics' other newcomers are still learning the basics of the offense, and he admitted that he has to "get [his] legs back, get used to running up and down the court again.'' It seems wise to move on in fantasy leagues given Murphy's conditioning and limited role.

Fri Mar 4 201122:58Murphy held scoreless in second game in BOS
Troy Murphy was held scoreless in his second game as a member of the Celtics, missing all four field goal attempts with just two rebounds and two assists in 12 minutes on Friday.
We can point out that he needs time to get acclimated and to get into shape, but we're also seeing the reason why teams weren't lining up to trade for him, either. With his low ceiling and questionable skill/conditioning, we're all for dropping him for a hot free agent.

Thu Mar 3 201102:18Murphy quiet in debut for Celtics
Troy Murphy made his Celtics' debut on Wednesday but missed all three of his shots for one point in 13 minutes.
He hasn't really played much all year and it's going to take him time to work his way into game shape, as well as learn a new system. He might be worth holding in fantasy, but the bottom line is he's the fifth or sixth option for Boston. And if he doesn't start at center for them, you might be better picking up a hot free agent. There were plenty of them emerging on Wednesday night.

Wed Mar 2 201117:37Troy Murphy could debut for Celtics Wednesday
The Celtics have officially signed Troy Murphy, and he could make his debut for the team as soon as Wednesday night.
It's hard to picture Murphy being ready for significant minutes considering that he last played on Jan. 7, but he could have some value with the Celtics' front line depleted. However, expectations certainly need to be kept in check as he breaks in with the team.
