Udrih is coming off offseason surgery on his right ankle, but his appearance in Tuesday's game demonstrates he was no lingering concerns about the injury. The 33-year-old will likely serve as the top backup at point guard behind Mike Conley.

Udrih had his option picked up by the Grizzlies, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.

Udrih underwent ankle surgery during the first week of June, but the Grizzlies still opted to pick up his $0.9 million contract for 2015-16. Though it appears Nick Calathes may not be re-signed, the Grizzlies traded for Andrew Harrison on draft night, and they still have Russ Smith as well. Regardless, those two young guards have a lot to prove if they hope to pass Udrih on the depth chart.

Udrih initially injured the ankle in Game 2 of the Grizzlies' first-round series against the Blazers, which forced one immediate absence but up-and-down playing time thereafter until they were eliminated by the Warriors. Nonetheless, he'll enter next season as the unquestioned backup point guard due to his respectable showings during Mike Conley's absences.

Udrih missed one game due to his injury but appears to be good to go moving forward. He's been fairly efficient in the games he's played so far -- averaging 14.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in 22.3 minutes per game for the series. He's a strong asset off the bench for the Grizzlies, and he should continue to play well as long as he's healthy.
