Mon Oct 7 201313:07Brendan Haywood out with a sprained foot
Brendan Haywood (foot) will not play in the Tuesday's preseason opener.
He's had multiple issues with his spraied foot and the team has little reason to trot him out there in October. Haywood is 33 and probably won't match his 19.0 minutes per game from last season, so he should be ignored in almost all fantasy leagues.

Thu Oct 3 201318:22Haywood still dealing with foot injury
Brendan Haywood is still dealing with a sprained foot, though it's unclear if it's the same stress reaction that ended his season early in March.
We're guessing it is but updates on this sort of thing are light these days. Either way, Haywood is not a lock to make the rotation and he has no fantasy value.

Thu Mar 21 201316:27Brendan Haywood will miss rest of the season
Brendan Haywood will miss the rest of the season with a stress reaction in his left foot.
An MRI and CT scan confirmed the injury after Haywood three of the last four games with soreness in his left ankle soreness. He has no fantasy value and his absence shouldn't change anything in the Bobcats' frontcourt.

Wed Mar 20 201318:30Brendan Haywood will not play Wednesday night
Brendan Haywood has a sore left and will not play Wednesday night.
After notching 10 points and seven rebounds on March 9, Haywood has scored one point in four games and even received a pair of DNP-CDs. His absence should have zero effect on your fantasy lineup.

Sat Mar 9 201322:35Haywood cracks double-digits vs. Wizards
Brendan Haywood played 29 minutes in Saturday's lopsided loss in Washington, scoring 10 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
Haywood scored 14 points in the second game of the season, but he hasn't cracked double-digits since. Mike Dunlap may have simply been sending Bryon Mullens (five minutes) a message with tonight's benching, and we'd avoid picking up Haywood unless you're desperate for boards and blocks.

Mon Nov 19 201223:58Haywood grabs 11 rebounds with two blocks
Brendan Haywood scored six points on 3-of-6 shooting with 11 rebounds and two blocks in 33 minutes on Monday against the Bucks.
If you're in a deeper league and need a big man give him a look, as his role has been relatively consistent and Bismack Biyombo's development is on pause for now.

Sat Nov 10 201218:24Haywood back and ready to play Saturday
Brendan Haywood (personal) is dressed for Saturday's game and will start against the Mavericks.
Haywood had a family emergency that caused him to miss Friday's game. Bismack Biyombo got the start on Friday played 36 minutes in Haywood's absence. Haywood is off the radar in standard leagues while owners in even shallow leagues should at least keep an eye on Biyombo.

Fri Nov 9 201219:08Haywood (personal) out; Biyombo to start
Brendan Haywood (personal) will not play on Friday against the Hornets, and Bismack Biyombo will start in his place.
It is moments like these that Biyombo will need to take advantage of to pull himself back onto the fantasy radar. Aside from last season's fiasco that guaranteed him some level of playing time, we haven't seen anything out of Biyombo (yet) to suggest he is ready to take the next step this season.

Fri Nov 9 201218:45Brendan Haywood out on Friday
Brendan Haywood will miss Friday's game due to a family emergency.
Charlotte plays at New Orleans at 8 p.m., so this news is coming late. Hopefully everything is OK with Haywood's family. Bismack Biyombo and Tyrus Thomas should both see a boost in minutes.

Sun Nov 4 201200:44Brendan Haywood double-doubles in defeat
The Bobcats lost in Dallas on Saturday despite getting a double-double from starting center Brendan Haywood, who had 14 points, 11 rebounds and one block.
Haywood played 31 minutes and we haven't seen him this active in a long while. This is his second straight game playing 30+ minutes, which surprisingly puts him on the radar for owners in need of a low-end rebounds and blocks specialist.

Sat Oct 27 201201:11Brendan Haywood struggles in start at C
Brendan Haywood started at center on Friday and had two points, five rebounds and zero blocks in 16 minutes.
We moved Haywood in as the starter on our depth charts earlier Friday, as Bismack Biyombo appears set to come off the bench. That may help him stay out of foul trouble, so it's not necessarily a disaster. BB had eight points, seven boards and zero blocks in 29 minutes, but is still a better option than Haywood in fantasy leagues. Don't target him until late in your draft.

Sat Jul 14 201217:18Bobcats claim Brendan Haywood off waivers
The Bobcats claimed Brendan Haywood off waivers on Saturday.
In order to salvage salary cap space and avoid luxury taxes, the Mavs ate the final three years and guaranteed $27.2 million remaining on Haywood's contract. That number is diminished only by the salary Charlotte agreed to pay him, which is probably the vet's minimum. Haywood will probably battle DeSagana Diop for minutes behind starting center Bismack Biyombo.

Thu Jul 12 201214:19Haywood officially amnestied by Mavs
Brendan Haywood has been waived by the Mavericks using the amnesty clause.
This clears the way for Chris Kaman to start at center, while other teams will be able to big on Haywood over the next 48 hours.

Wed Jul 11 201219:02Report: Mavericks to amnesty Haywood
The Mavericks will reportedly use their amnesty clause on center Brendan Haywood.
This comes on the heels of them signing Chris Kaman, and should clear the way for Kaman to be the full-time center in Dallas. Consider him a sleeper fantasy pick this year.

Sat Jun 9 201209:04Brendan Haywood has spread provision in deal
Brendan Haywood has a "spread provision" in his contract that could prevent him from being waived via the amnesty clause.
Haywood has widely been speculated as an amnesty clause candidate this offseason, but the spread provision may salvage some of his limited trade value. In short, any team that acquires Haywood, and then proceeds to waive him, can spread out payments owed to him through 2026. Considering Haywood's behemoth deal, this is significant because a team can potentially take on his deal without compromising salary cap space. Even with all of that considered, it's still not going to be easy to trade him.

Tue May 8 201213:06Brendan Haywood knows amnesty is possible
Brendan Haywood said he "won't be offended" if the Mavericks use its amnesty clause on him.
Haywood, who has been heavily speculated to be an amnesty clause candidate, could very well have seen the last of his time with the Mavericks. Haywood is owed over $30 million over the next four seasons and the team could really use that cap space to be active in the free agent market this summer.

Mon May 7 201215:46Brendan Haywood an amnesty candidate
The Dallas Morning News suggests that Brendan Haywood could be an amnesty candidate this offseason.
Haywood is signed through 2014/15 and roughly $27 million during that span. If the Mavs need to cut him loose in order to pay Deron Williams and another big-time free agent, they won't hesitate to do so. Ian Mahinmi could be just as effective at a much lower cost.

Tue May 1 201214:49Brendan Haywood benched in 2nd half
Brendan Haywood was benched to start the second half of Monday's Game 2 loss to the Thunder.
Coach Rick Carlisle decided to roll with the better athlete in Ian Mahinmi. Haywood ended up playing just nine minutes, finishing with two points and no rebounds. Mahinmi had nine points and five rebounds in 18 minutes.

Wed Apr 11 201207:31Brendan Haywood moves to lighter brace
Brendan Haywood (knee) is now wearing a lighter brace.
Haywood has shed the bulky, cumbersome "offensive lineman's" brace in exchange for a lighter one. Haywood has started every game since he's been back, but he's gone over 25 minutes just twice and hasn't collected more than six rebounds in a single game. He's not a fantasy option.
