Thu Jan 3 201309:13Tyrus Thomas very close to returning
Tyrus Thomas (calf) practiced on Wednesday and Mike Dunlap said Thomas would return "very soon."
Thomas hasn't played since mid-November. Dunlap expects to have Thomas back in the rotation "in the next several games," and called him a "big part" of what the Bobcats are doing. With Byron Mullens (ankle) still on the shelf, Thomas could immediately see time at power forward when he's ready to return.

Thu Dec 13 201215:50Wife of Tyrus Thomas arrested after brawl
Jamie Patrice Thomas, the wife of Tyrus Thomas, was arrested in connection with a fight outside a bar on Thursday morning.
The fight took place directly after a party hosted by Chris Paul, and based on the photo linked below, Thomas' wife was heavily involved in the altercation. As for Tyrus (torn calf muscle), he was shooting jumpers earlier this week, but is expected to be out until mid-January. He's averaging just 6.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks this season.

Tue Dec 11 201213:06Tyrus Thomas spotted taking jumpers
Tyrus Thomas (calf) was taking jumpers at practice.
Thomas' timetable to return was two months after initially sustaining his injury, so he's not expected back until mid-January. Even when he does return, Thomas shouldn't eat into the minutes of Bismack Biyombo or Byron Mullens.

Mon Nov 19 201216:33Tyrus Thomas (calf) to miss two months
Tyrus Thomas is expected to miss at least two months due to a torn muscle in his left calf.
Thomas was averaging just 6.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 18 minutes per game, so his absence shouldn't have a significant impact in fantasy leagues. Hakim Warrick is in line to pick up additional playing time with Thomas out.

Mon Nov 19 201211:08Thomas, Henderson don't practice Monday
Tyrus Thomas (calf) and Gerald Henderson (foot) did not practice on Monday.
Beat writer Rick Bonnell calls it a "reasonable assumption" that neither guy will play on Monday. With Henderson's continued absence, the Bobcats will continue to use Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Ramon Sessions and Ben Gordon extra minutes, while Thomas' absence should help boost Byron Mullens' time on the floor.

Sat Nov 17 201222:37Tyrus Thomas leaves w/ strained left calf
Tyrus Thomas did not return to Saturday's game after straining left calf.
Injuries have been a theme throughout Thomas' career, which may be one reason the Bobcats acquired Hakim Warrick from the Hornets this week. If you own him for some reason, it's a correctable problem.

Wed Nov 14 201223:36Tyrus Thomas blocks three more shots
Tyrus Thomas had 10 points, four rebounds, a steal and three blocks in 18 minutes on Wednesday.
He had 10 points, six boards and two blocks on Tuesday and is playing well enough to be given a look in deep leagues if you need some blocks.

Tue Nov 13 201222:12Tyrus Thomas productive in easy win
Tyrus Thomas had 10 points, six rebounds and two blocks in 21 minutes in Tuesday's win over the Wizards.
Thomas still hasn't had that breakout game yet this season, and when it finally comes, we doubt he'll be able to do it again in his next game.

Sat Nov 3 201201:05Tyrus Thomas (heel) plays on Friday
Tyrus Thomas (heel) played on Friday, scoring four points on 1-of-9 shooting with three rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 17 minutes.
None of this is surprising, and eventually he'll have a big game only to let everybody down the following night. Book it.

Tue Oct 30 201218:09Tyrus Thomas still uncertain for Thursday
Tyrus Thomas (bruised heel) remains questionable for Thursday's season opener.
Thomas missed the Bobcats' final two exhibitions with the injury, but we've seen no updates on his status. He started at PF for three of six preseason games he played in, but he's too inconsistent to be worth owning in average leagues.

Thu Oct 25 201210:47Tyrus Thomas out Thursday with bruised heel
Tyrus Thomas will not play on Thursday due to a bruised right heel.
After logging a double-double, Thomas followed it up with a stinker as the starter with six points, four boards and no blocks in just under 30 minutes. Now, he's dealing with a bruised heel while Byron Mullens (knee) is back on the court.

Tue Oct 23 201222:03Tyrus Thomas fails to impress as starter
Tyrus Thomas got the start Tuesday, but managed just six points, four rebounds and zero blocks in almost 28 minutes against the Heat.
Thomas failed to seize the opportunity Tuesday with Byron Mullens still sidelined. Thomas' double-double performance on Saturday now looks more outlier than trend and fantasy owners would be wise to wait for more proof before investing.

Sat Oct 20 201222:38Tyrus Thomas leads Bobcats w/ 14 pts, 16 reb
Tyrus Thomas paced the Bobcats' attack on Saturday with 14 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block.
Thomas had done absolutely nothing noteworthy in his previous four preseason games, and we're inclined to view this skeptically. He has the talent to post big lines routinely, but has never been able to stay healthy and play consistently. We recommend avoiding him unless he strings a few of these games together.

Wed Oct 3 201219:48Tyrus Thomas leaves practice with cramps
Tyrus Thomas left Wednesday's practice with cramps.
Thomas is coming off a disastrous season and he spent the offseason working on changing his eating habits in hopes to revive his career. He has a lot to prove before we consider drafting him in fantasy leagues.

Tue Oct 2 201208:55Tyrus Thomas reveals he had stomach ulcers
Tyrus Thomas revealed that he was hospitalized with stomach ulcers before training camp last season.
Scary stuff. Thomas said that he lost 20 lbs and never gained it back until after the season, and that helps to explain why Thomas looked much skinnier than he had previously. Thomas was forced to play out of position at SF as a result, but now Thomas is coming into camp with a renewed attitude and fully healthy. New coach Mike Dunlap praised him for being a "tremendous rotator" on defense. After changing his diet and with his stomach issues behind him, Thomas will look to rebound from a career-worst season.

Thu Sep 20 201211:52Tyrus Thomas bigger, stronger than last year
Tyrus Thomas is "bigger, stronger" than he was last season after gaining 20 lbs. in the offseason.
That's good news for the Bobcats because Thomas had really begun to slim down. Although he's just 26 years old, Thomas had a miserable season last year, averaging 5.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocks on 36.7 percent shooting. Charlotte owes him more than $25 million over the next three years.

Thu Aug 30 201210:32Bobcats still hoping to reach Tyrus Thomas
The Bobcats are hoping Mike Dunlap's coaching staff can reach Tyrus Thomas "in a way that Paul Silas couldn't."
There is no question that Charlotte would be happy to part with Thomas and his ridiculous contract, but they're more than likely stuck with him after his putrid 2011-12 season. The 2006 No. 4 overall pick averaged 5.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocks on 36.7 percent shooting in less than 20 minutes per game.

Thu Jun 28 201210:13Tyrus Thomas puts on 20 lbs of muscle
Tyrus Thomas has gained 20 lbs of muscle during the offseason.
Thomas looked ridiculously scrawny last season with the Bobcats, and this can only help whatever trade value he might have. However, he's got a long way to prove that he's worth his current contract. Thomas has three years and approximately $26 million remaining on his deal.
