Mon Feb 25 201309:52Shannon Brown now not in Suns rotation
Shannon Brown has not played in any of the last four games, and he's not currently in Lindsey Hunter's rotation.
Hunter has drawn extreme scrutiny since taking over the head coaching job, and frankly, he looks like someone who is learning how to coach an NBA team on the fly. "I honestly don't think what's going on is supposed to be going on," Brown said. There is seemingly a divide among Suns players as to who is in Hunter's corner and who isn't, and the entire organization is a downright mess. "Bitching about it ain't going to do nothing. There's no loyalty nowhere." It's safe to say Brown is not happy with his new role.

Thu Jan 31 201301:32Shannon Brown still struggling for Suns
Shannon Brown had just eight points, two rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block on 3-of-8 shooting in Wednesday's win.
Brown has really cooled off and seen his minutes slip lately, and hasn't scored more than nine points in any of his last four games. There should be plenty of hot free agents out there (Michael Beasley, Jimmy Butler, Nate Robinson, etc.) and dropping Brown for one of them makes sense right now.

Sun Jan 27 201322:50Shannon Brown plays just 15 minutes Sunday
Shannon Brown played just 15 minutes on Sunday to finish with six points, three rebounds and one assist, a night after being ejected on a flagrant foul.
This is not good, as Brown was pretty hot until Saturday's ejection. His hot streak appears to be officially over, but he could easily start another one at any time. If you need to cut him for a hot free agent, it probably makes sense.

Sat Jan 26 201322:23Shannon Brown ejected for hard foul on Manu
Shannon Brown was ejected for a flagrant-2 foul for hitting Manu Ginobili with his forearm.
It was a hard foul and he'll probably be hearing from the league office. He finished with four points, two boards and one assist, so there's nothing to suggest he'll be worth owning in most leagues with new coach Lindsey Hunter.

Thu Jan 24 201301:25Shannon Brown scores 12 in 29 minutes
Shannon Brown scored 12 points off the bench in a 106-96 win over the Kings with two rebounds, three assists, four steals and one 3-pointer on Wednesday.
He played 29 minutes and was in the lineup for the clutch minutes down the stretch of Wednesday's game. Brown fell out of favor pretty quickly for inconsistent play, so he isn't worth picking up in most fantasy leagues just yet. P.J. Tucker started and played 23 minutes, but he might lose some value as one of Alvin Gentry's favorites.

Fri Jan 18 201300:21Shannon Brown drops 20 points off bench
Shannon Brown scored 20 points to go with five rebounds, two assists and four steals in 29 minutes against the Bucks on Thursday.
Brown had fallen out of favor with Alvin Gentry before Jared Dudley's hand injury, but he's picked it back up lately. He's not quite worth owning in standard leagues, but P.J. Tucker (eight points in 22 minutes) has lost his momentum and Brown might be on the upswing. Just keep an eye on him for now.

Tue Jan 15 201300:42Shannon Brown scores 21 points in 43 minutes
Shannon Brown scored 21 points in 43 minutes in a loss to the Thunder on Monday, adding three rebounds, three assists, one steal, two blocks and two 3-pointers.
His 43 minutes set a season high and he picked up most of Jared Dudley's minutes. Brown was ice cold before Dudley went down, making just 1-of-22 attempts from beyond the arc, but he definitely didn't disappoint with his opportunity in his last two games. Dudley could play on Thursday, so we'd leave Brown on the wire in most formats.

Sat Jan 12 201323:16Shannon Brown quiet in spot start for Suns
Shannon Brown started at SG in place of Jared Dudley (hand) on Saturday, scoring 11 points with four rebounds, two steals and one block.
Brown knocked down 4-of-6 field goals, including one 3-pointer. Unfortunately for anyone who spot-started him tonight, the Suns' bench got hot, the score got out of hand, and Brown ended up playing just 25 minutes, while backup Wes Johnson played 23 minutes. Dudley is day-to-day.

Sat Jan 5 201304:52Brown struggles again off the bench
Shannon Brown struggled coming off the bench on Friday, missing all four of his shots to finish with zero points, two rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block in 21 minutes.
Brown has not taken to his new role very well, and it's not surprising to see him get phased out when he's not hitting his shot. He struggles with defensive concepts and has poor shot selection, and with low upside he's not worth waiting on when he's not producing.

Thu Jan 3 201301:37Shannon Brown scores 12 off Suns bench
Shannon Brown came off the bench again on Wednesday and had 12 points, three boards, two assists and a steal on 6-of-12 shooting in 25 minutes.
P.J. Tucker is starting over him for now, but it remains to be seen how long Alvin Gentry is going to stick with that plan. Brown played well tonight, but would be a much more attractive option if he were in the starting lineup. Hold him for now and see what happens in the next couple games, as Brown was averaging 13 points, a steal and a 3-pointer as a starter.

Mon Dec 31 201214:54Shannon Brown benched, Tucker starts vs. OKC
Shannon Brown will move to the bench temporarily on Monday, allowing P.J. Tucker to defend Kevin Durant as a starter.
Jared Dudley will shift to SG but this is a matchup-based shuffle, and Alvin Gentry has already said that Brown will resume starting against the 76ers on Wednesday. Tucker doesn't have appeal as a spot-starter and Brown's numbers shouldn't take too big of a hit.

Sat Dec 29 201222:52Shannon Brown scores 21 points on Sat.
Shannon Brown finished Saturday's game with 21 points, one 3-pointer, six rebounds, three assists and zero turnovers.
Brown was coming off a few rough games earlier this week but he sank 9-of-17 field goals tonight and continues to play unfettered minutes as the starting SG.

Sun Dec 23 201201:06Shannon Brown scores 15 pts w/ four steals
Shannon Brown had 15 points, three rebounds, two assists and four steals on Saturday, but the Suns lost in Portland by a score of 93-96.
Brown uncharacteristically turned the ball over four times and he shot 7-of-17 with 'only' one 3-pointer, but he's been a fourth-round value over the past two weeks (nine-cat). He's attempted just one FT in the past three games, which leaves him more susceptible to cold shooting nights, but that's what you get from a guard who's attempting 4.7 threes per game in December.

Thu Dec 20 201201:10Shannon Brown hits five three, scores 26
Shannon Brown matched his jersey number with 26 points, adding four rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and five 3-pointers in 34 minutes against the Bobcats.
Brown torched the Bobcats in the third quarter with 18 points. He's not quite as hot as Jared Dudley, but owners have to like the 33 minutes per game and 91 percent from the line in December. He's also taking 13 shots per game in December and is definitely worth a long look in all leagues at the very least.

Tue Dec 18 201201:42Shannon Brown scores 22 points vs. Kings
Shannon Brown scored 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting (including two threes) with five rebounds and one steal in Monday's win over the Kings.
Brown had 19 points on Saturday and when he's hot he is worth a look, and it also doesn't hurt that Jared Dudley has been moved over to small forward. The Kings put up little resistance tonight, which is also something owners will want to keep in mind when making their decisions.

Sat Dec 8 201219:37Shannon Brown plays 40 minutes, scores 19
Shannon Brown played a season-high 40 minutes and had 19 points, four rebounds, one steal and two 2-pointers against the Clippers on Saturday.
Jared Dudley got moved to small forward and played just 18 minutes, scoring eight points with two 3-pointers. Brown has played better than Dudley all year and a 40-minute workload moves him closer to must-add territory in standard leagues. Although, owners might want to proceed with caution since coach Alvin Gentry has developed a Skiles-like reputation for flimsy rotations.

Fri Dec 7 201202:01Shannon Brown plays 28 minutes, scores 11
Shannon Brown played 28 minutes and had 11 points, two rebounds, one assist and four steals against the Mavericks on Thursday.
Jared Dudley saw 21 minutes of action and also scored 11 points, adding two 3-pointers and two assists. P.J. Tucker sprained his MCL in this game, so both Dudley and Brown might be able to get an extra handful of minutes.

Sun Dec 2 201214:40Shannon Brown plays 35 minutes on Sunday
Shannon Brown played 35 minutes against the Knicks on Sunday and shot 6-of-16 from the field for 17 points with seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and one 3-pointer.
The 35 minutes were a season high for Brown and his 16 shot attempts were also his highest total on the year. Jared Dudley played just 25 minutes and only had 10 points, so it would appear Brown has the edge in fantasy value. This is a time share and neither player are in must-own territory.

Fri Nov 30 201221:42Brown scores 14 points in Suns loss
Shannon Brown scored 14 points on 5-of-13 shooting with three rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one 3-point shot in 29 minutes on Friday against the Raptors.
Aside from a few explosions here and there, this is a typical 'good' night for Brown and the rest leaves a lot to be desired. If he gets hot, though, he can be worth a look for his 3-point shooting.

Sun Nov 25 201221:00Shannon Brown shoots 1-of-7 in loss to 76ers
Shannon Brown struggled from the field on Sunday, hitting just 1-of-7 FGs for four points, while chipping in two rebounds and seven assists.
The assists were easily a season-high and we don't expect to see him do it again -- his fantasy upside is predicated upon scoring and 3-pointers, so plan accordingly.
