Marion has been dealing with a painful hip injury for the past couple of months, the Akron Beach Journal reports.

Marion has seen his playing time dwindle in recent weeks, even to the point of falling out of the rotation entirely. It was unclear why his play had been suffering, but this helps explain his recent demotion and level of play. He reportedly started feeling discomfort during the team's trip west in January, and has lingered since. It's possible that the ailment could bother Marion for the rest of the season, but as long as he is still hurting, he's not a reliable fantasy option in any format.

Marion played just five minutes in the Wednesday win over the Heat. He scored three points (1-1 FG, 1-1 FT) with a rebound.

Marion has seen his playing time shaved to a minumum. He did not see the court in the Saturday win over the Lakers and has played just 7.8 minutes in his last five games.

Marion moved into the starting line-up as LeBron James missed Wednesday's game against the Trailblazers with a wrist injury. However, Marion failed to score and only contributed a single rebound in nine minutes of action.

Marion is only averaging 19.3 minutes during January and has scored in double digits once during that period. There is no need for him to be on the fantasy radar in anything but the deepest of leagues.

Marion announced Wednesday that he will retire at the conclusion of the 2014-15 season, the Arizona Republic reports. "I wanted to go out on my terms," Marion said. "The biggest thing is having a son. I got attached to him. Seeing him periodically is hard. Watching him grow up on pictures and videos is hard."

Marion, who is in his 15th NBA season, admitted he considered retiring after last season but joined the Cavaliers for one last run at a second championship ring. The veteran was a member of the Mavericks' 2011 championship team, but he'll be best remembered for his days in Phoenix. Marion spent 8.5 season with the Suns after being selected with the ninth overall pick in 1999. He went to four All-Star games and helped lead the Suns to back-to-back Western Conference Finals in 2005 and 2006. While Marion's numbers are down considerably this season, as he's stepped into a reserve role, he currently holds career averages of 15.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.1 blocks. His best statistical season came in 2005-06, when he averaged 21.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 53 percent from the floor.

Marion (hip) returned to the lineup in Tuesday's loss to the Phoenix Suns, finishing with six points (2-7 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 11 rebounds and two assists in 22 minutes off the bench.

Marion missed two games with a strained hip flexor, but was able to return Tuesday and play just under 22 minutes, which is right on par with his season average of 22.7 minutes per game. Considering he played a full minutes load on Tuesday, he should be over his hip injury and expected to play right around 20 minutes moving forward. The 11 rebounds were a season-high for him, but don't expect that to continue, as he's only reached double-digit rebounds one other time this season.

Marion (hip) will play Tuesday against the Suns, Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Marion will return to action after suffering a strained hip against the Rockets last Wednesday. He'll likely come off the bench to play his usual complement of 20 or so minutes, but that number could be slightly lower if LeBron James (knee) also gets the green light from the team's medical staff.

Marion was moved back into a bench role two games ago to get Tristan Thompson in the starting lineup at center. Given the Cavs' current roster, Marion will likely be stuck in a limited defensive role off the bench the majority of the season, making him difficult to own in anything but the deepest of leagues.

Marion is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Pistons after rolling his left ankle, Bob Finnan of The News-Herald reports.

Marion suffered the injury in the second quarter of the afternoon contest, and should be considered day-to-day until further notice. If he's unable to return, Mike Miller and Dion Waiters should continue to take on heavy minutes.
