Fri Nov 29 201319:55Chauncey Billups not running yet
Chauncey Billups (knee) was able to get some shots up during Friday's shootaround.
He still isn't running yet and will likely need quite a bit more time in street clothes. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will likely keep starting at shooting guard despite his season-long shooting slump.

Wed Nov 27 201318:23Chauncey Billups still out on Wednesday
Chauncey Billups (knee) will not play against the Bulls on Wednesday.
The Pistons aren't in a rush to bring him back and Billups has no timetable to return. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has been starting and turned in his best game of the season on Monday, scoring 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting. It'll be interesting to see if he can keep it up tonight.

Mon Nov 25 201318:03Chauncey Billups still out on Monday
Chauncey Billups (knee) will not play against the Bucks on Monday.
The Pistons aren't going to bring him back unless he's completely healthy, so there's no reason to keep him stashed in any fantasy league. Meanwhile, Rodney Stuckey has been shooting the ball well and scored 19.8 points per game in his last five games. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope figures to start, but his minutes are in jeopardy with his sub-par shooting.

Fri Nov 22 201318:08Chauncey Billups (knee) still out Friday
Chauncey Billups (knee) will not play against the Hawks on Friday.
This is his fifth game in street clothes and the Pistons will likely keep their 37-year-old guard out of the lineup for a little while longer. He's not worth owning in most leagues. Rookie Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has started four games this season, but he's been terrible with an ugly field goal percentage 29.4 on 8.5 shots per game. Hopefully, he can get it going tonight. Rodney Stuckey has stepped it up over his last four games, scoring at least 16 points in each of those games. Stuckey is worth owning in most leagues until he cools off.

Tue Nov 19 201318:37Chauncey Billups (knee) out again Tuesday
Chauncey Billups (knee tendinitis) will sit out again on Tuesday.
He said that his tendinitis is "mild" but it didn't improve while he was playing, so he's hoping rest will do the trick. His limited role in the Pistons' backcourt negates any fantasy value he might have at full strength.

Mon Nov 18 201309:58Billups day-to-day w/ 'mild' knee tendinitis
Chauncey Billups described his knee tendinitis as "mild" and said that he's day-to-day.
"I thought it would subside with time but it didn't and it was kind of rough out there, trying to play with it," Billups said. The Pistons aren't about to rush their veteran guard back only to aggravate his ailment, which leaves a short-term window for guys like Rodney Stuckey, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Will Bynum (hamstring).

Sun Nov 17 201320:17Chauncey Billups out again w/ sore left knee
Chauncey Billups will miss his second straight game on Sunday due to a sore left knee.
Mr. Big Shot's return to Detroit hasn't gone as planned -- the Pistons have a 3-5 record and Billups is averaging a career-low 5.3 points on 33.3 percent shooting. Detroit has enough backcourt depth that they can afford to keep their veteran combo guard sidelined until his knee tendinitis abates.

Fri Nov 15 201315:16Chauncey Billups will not play on Friday
Chauncey Billups (left knee) will not play against the Kings on Friday.
He played just six minutes on Wednesday and sat out of practice on Thursday with tendinitis in his knee. Rodney Stuckey will likely move into the starting lineup while Billups is out. In Stuckey's last three games, he's averaged 28.3 minutes per game while making just 35.4 percent of his shots. He should get plenty of shots in Friday's road game and is worth a spot-start in many cases. Billups doesn't have fantasy value to begin with.

Thu Nov 14 201317:38Chauncey Billups (knee) iffy to play Friday
Chauncey Billups (knee tendinitis) missed Thursday's practice and is listed as day-to-day.
For what it's worth, beat writer Vincent Goodwill "would be surprised if he played [on Friday]." Billups only played six minutes on Tuesday, due partly to his ailing knees, and a few extra days of rest might be in store for the veteran. If he does sit out, more minutes will be waiting for Rodney Stuckey, Will Bynum and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

Wed Nov 13 201309:23Chauncey Billups benched w/ sore knee
Mo Cheeks said his decision to bench Chauncey Billups was partly because "his knee was a little sore."
"I just wanted to change some things up," Cheeks said. "It wasn't their effort. I just wanted to try and get something different." It's unclear how much Billups' knee played into his benching, but he only played six minutes and should be jettisoned from fantasy lineups until further notice. We'll list him on the injury report as a precaution for Friday's game at Sacramento.

Wed Nov 13 201302:52Chauncey Billups plays just six minutes
Chauncey Billups played just six minutes in Tuesday's blowout loss to the Warriors.
Mo Cheeks could probably see the blowout coming early after the Warriors raced out to a big lead, and put the elder statesman on the bench where he would be safe. Billups simply doesn't have the speed to hang with teams like the sprinting Warriors and will still see random nights off due to his age. And because of that, he's probably more trouble than he's worth in terms of fantasy.

Sun Nov 3 201321:31Bynum, Billups quiet w/ Jennings in lineup
Will Bynum and Chauncey Billups both started for Detroit on Sunday, but neither player scored more than five points.
Bynum played 17 minutes and Billups played 21 minutes, the inevitable result of both Rodney Stuckey (finger) and Brandon Jennings (jaw) returning to the lineup. It would be very surprising if Mo Cheeks doesn't start Jennings vs. the Pacers on Tuesday, and the outlook for Bynum and Billups is tenuous at best.

Sat Nov 2 201301:58Billups has quiet night against the Grizz
Chauncey Billups started at point guard again on Friday, scoring five points on 1-of-7 shooting (1-of-5 on threes) with one rebound, six assists and one block in 32 minutes.
Billups is going to struggle against strong defensive teams like the Grizzlies, and with Brandon Jennings returning as soon as Sunday he can be dropped for a hot free agent.

Fri Nov 1 201309:50Chauncey Billups plays well in opener
Chauncey Billups hit 4-of-8 shots and four 3-pointers for 16 points and five assists in 31 minutes of Wednesday's win over Washington.
Billups looked great in this one and should be ready for Memphis on Friday, given that the team didn't play on Thursday. But don't expect him to play in back-to-back games, and don't be surprised to see him get the occasional night off to rest. And his starting status for Friday remains murky, depending on whether Rodney Stuckey's debut will result in a starting job, or a stint off the bench.

Thu Oct 24 201310:41Chauncey Billups to take games off at times
Chauncey Billups will be given the authority to pick and choose which games he plays in this season for the Pistons.
It sounds like he's a good candidate to miss a game or two when the Pistons play four games in five days, or five games in seven-day stretches this season. Mo Cheeks doesn't have a problem with it. "Yeah, I don't mind, he said. "We could use him out there. So we're going to try to keep him as healthy as we possibly can." Billups is going to see decent minutes with Rodney Stuckey out with a broken thumb, but owners in weekly leagues will have to take a look at the schedule before dropping him into lineups. He played 32 minutes against the Wizards on Tuesday.

Tue Oct 22 201322:39Chauncey Billups hands out six assists
Chauncey Billups had 12 points, six assists and four 3-pointers on 4-of-10 shooting on Tuesday.
He's been picking his spots this preseason and has played fairly well, averaging 11 points and five dimes in his two games. It's hard to predict how many games he'll play in, as well what his role may be, but with Rodney Stuckey out with a broken thumb, it looks like Billups will start at SG and should see some decent run early in the season.

Tue Oct 22 201311:54Billups will play Tuesday, iffy for Thursday
Chauncey Billups will play on Tuesday, but he hasn't decided if he'll play in Thursday's preseason finale.
The veteran has been picking and choosing which exhibitions he'll appear in, which has been good for the development of Peyton Siva and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Will Bynum (illness) is also expected to be in uniform on Tuesday.

Thu Oct 17 201321:58Chauncey Billups scores 10 points in start
Chauncey Billups played 28 minutes against the Cavs on Thursday and had 10 points, one board, four assists, one steal and two 3-pointers on 3-of-9 shooting.
Even though the Pistons are really banged up at guard, the 28 minutes were a little high. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope shot 1-of-7 from the field, dropping his preseason field goal shooting to 31.1 percent. It looks like Billups' leadership could get him into the starting lineup on opening night and he could be a low-upside option in deeper formats.

Wed Oct 16 201317:05Chauncey Billups not playing Wednesday
Chauncey Billups is not playing against the Bulls on Wednesday.
The Pistons are on a back-to-back set with Cleveland on Thursday, so he should be able to give it a go for that contest. Billups could end up starting at shooting guard for the Pistons on opening night, but he might not be able to get much more playing time than his 19.0 minutes per game from last season.

Mon Oct 14 201314:22Chauncey Billups expected to play Wednesday
Chauncey Billups is expected to play on Wednesday.
He sat out the past two preseason games, which has been the plan all along. Billups is in the mix start at shooting guard and the team could utilize his plus 3-point shooting. Still, he's not likely to see enough minutes to be a factor in standard leagues.
