Wed Nov 1 202300:03Nicolas Claxton Still Out On Wednesday
Brooklyn Nets center Nicolas Claxton (ankle) is out ahead of Wednesday's meeting with the Heat. The 24-year-old appeared in the Nets' opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers, accruing seven points, seven rebounds, and three blocks. Unfortunately, he's been sidelined since due to a sprained ankle, and there's a chance he may miss more games moving forward, including Friday's matchup with the Bulls and Saturday's clash with the Celtics. As a result, Ben Simmons, averaging 10.0 boards, 8.3 points, 8.3 assists, and 1.3 blocks, will likely remain at the five. Day'Ron Sharpe, who nearly had a double-double on Monday night against Charlotte, should see enough minutes to consider utilizing in deep fantasy setups. Sharpe will also gain attention from DFS managers, especially those looking for a value opportunity.

Sun Oct 29 202321:26Nicolas Claxton Remains Out Against Charlotte
Brooklyn Nets center Nicolas Claxton (ankle) won't play in Monday's game against Charlotte. The 24-year-old was in the lineup for the season opener versus the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, he didn't suit up for Friday's loss to Dallas, prompting head coach Jacque Vaughn to rely on Ben Simmons, who narrowly missed a triple-double, to handle things in the middle. Cam Thomas also moved into the starting lineup and amassed 30 points. Simmons and Thomas will likely hold the same roles on Monday, meaning both men should be starting in all fantasy setups.

Sun Oct 29 202315:37Nicolas Claxton Could Miss Another Game
Brooklyn Nets center Nicolas Claxton (ankle) is day-to-day, meaning he may miss Monday's game in Charlotte. He didn't suit up for Friday's loss to the Dallas Mavericks, with head coach Jacque Vaughn going small, resulting in Ben Simmons, who narrowly had a triple-double, getting work in the middle. With Cameron Johnson (calf) questionable for Monday night, Vaughn may rely on the same rotations to pick up the Nets' first win of the 2023-24 campaign.

Thu Oct 26 202318:38Nicolas Claxton Missing Friday With Sprained Ankle
Brooklyn Nets center Nicolas Claxton (ankle) is listed as out for Friday's game against the Dallas Mavericks due to a left ankle sprain. Claxton fought through the injury in Wednesday's opener, securing seven points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three blocks in the loss, but was seen with his knee taped up. The Nets will take the cautious approach with their franchise big man, ruling the 24-year-old out well in advance of Friday's tip-off. Claxton's next chance to return comes on Monday against the Charlotte Hornets, and there's no indication at this time that he's facing an extended absence. Day'Ron Sharpe, who is the next man up on Brooklyn's depth chart at the five, figures to be the main beneficiary of Claxton's absence. Though, head coach Jacque Vaughn could also opt for some small-ball looks with Ben Simmons or Dorian Finney-Smith making possible cameos at center.

Mon Apr 17 202322:32Nicolas Claxton Fails To Score In Game 2
Brooklyn Nets center Nicolas Claxton wasn't a factor in the Game 2 postseason loss to Philly. He failed to register a single point in this one and had just six rebounds and two assists. The 24-year-old has struggled offensively during the series thus far, averaging only 2.5 points in 25.5 minutes. However, Claxton may get more involved on Thursday night for Game 3 if head coach Jacque Vaughn ditches the small-ball approach.

Wed Mar 8 202318:55Nicolas Claxton Ruled Out Ahead Of Thursday Night
Brooklyn Nets center Nicolas Claxton (thumb/heel) has been ruled out of Thursday's game versus the Milwaukee Bucks. Claxton appears to be dealing with a couple injuries, but the Nets are entering a back-to-back set and have already ruled out multiple players. With Claxton unable to go, newly acquired Nerlens Noel may end up in the starting lineup. Noel offers elite upside in defensive stats, but has historically not produced much else. Day'Ron Sharpe should also enter the rotation and is a low end option for deeper leagues.

Sat Feb 11 202316:24Nicolas Claxton Will Play Against Philadelphia
Brooklyn Nets center Nicolas Claxton (hamstring) will suit up on Saturday against the Philadelphia 76ers. He didn't play in Thursday's win over the Chicago Bulls because of right hamstring tightness, which allowed Day'Ron Sharpe to get the start and finish two points shy of a double-double. However, with Claxton back in the mix, Sharpe's streaming window has closed. Claxton has averaged 18.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks in his two meetings with Philly this season, so he must be in every fantasy starting lineup imaginable.

Fri Feb 10 202320:59Nicolas Claxton Expected To Return On Saturday
Brooklyn Nets center Nicolas Claxton (hamstring) is expected to play on Saturday against the 76ers. Claxton has had a fantastic season, averaging a career-high 13.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks. However, he didn't play in Thursday's win over the Chicago Bulls because of right hamstring soreness, allowing Day'Ron Sharpe to enter the starting lineup and finish two points shy of a double-double. Although Claxton has done enough for fantasy managers to be a routine starter, he'll have to contend with Joel Embiid. But with Embiid dealing with lingering foot soreness of late, there's a chance he may not be available.

Fri Feb 10 202313:152023 NBA Trade Deadline Breakdown - Fantasy Basketball Impacts
The NBA trade deadline has officially come and gone and we had one of the most active deadlines in recent memory with some big stars being dealt. Kyrie, KD, and Westbrook are all heading to new teams and we have been covering those trades and their fantasy impacts here at RotoBaller. But there were plenty of other lesser-known players who were dealt in the last few days and I wanted to go through and make sure we don't overlook some of these trades as some of those deals may even have more fantasy impact than the big moves. So here are some other trades that went down and my two cents on the increase or decrease in value that we should expect from the players involved for the remainder of the 2022-2023 fantasy basketball season.

Moves That Matter

These are very much in order of how much they matter. Let's start with the Spurs sending their starting center back up North where he started his career.Jakob Poeltl to the RaptorsI am a huge Poeltl fan and was close to acquiring him on multiple teams before the deadline. It was a curious move by Toronto to be buyers instead of sellers at the deadline, but Poeltl gives them the presence at the five they have been lacking all season and allows Siakam to shift over and play PF where he belongs.Poeltl is no longer a shutdown candidate and has legit top-50 upside with his multi-category abilities. His departure also makes ... [More]
Thu Feb 9 202323:29Kevin Durant Traded to Suns - Fantasy Basketball Impact
As hectic as this year's NBA trade deadline has been, with 28 out of the 30 teams making at least one trade, early Thursday morning at 1:00 am, a blockbuster trade went down that not many expected. However, if you had read my previous article, you could have gotten a glimpse of the future thanks to my magic ball, as the first "potential trade" I wrote about was sending Kevin Durant to none other than the Pheonix Suns.Kevin Durant is undeniably a top-three player and arguably even the best in the NBA right now. It's not surprising to hear how stunned the NBA world was after seeing this trade, as the Suns sold a huge chunk of their future for the Nets superstar but were somehow saved from involving Deandre Ayton in the trade!Any average NBA fan knows how much of an impact future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant has on any team, but to emphasize just how much, check this out: The Suns went from odds of +1800 of winning the finals to +450 on Thursday morning after the huge trade, now only behind the Boston Celtics, who lead the race with their odds being +350.

Kevin Durant's Season Recap

Durant (knee) has been sidelined for over a month after getting hurt on January 8 against the Miami Heat and remains without a timetable to return to make his debut with the Suns. Before getting hurt, the 13-time All-Star was averaging 29.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 0.8 steals, 1.8 blocks, and 36 minutes in 39 appearances this season.
Thu Feb 9 202319:03Nicolas Claxton To Miss Thursday's Game
Brooklyn Nets center Nicolas Claxton (hamstring) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Chicago Bulls. It sounds like the Nets aren't going to push Claxton who is dealing with hamstring soreness. Day'Ron Sharpe and Ben Simmons should both see extended playing time with Claxton on the sideline. Neither player has great streaming appeal, but Simmons has the higher upside between the two players.

Tue Feb 7 202309:04Nicolas Claxton Does It All For Brooklyn Monday
Brooklyn Nets center Nicolas Claxton continued his breakthrough campaign with a good all-around effort against the Clippers on Monday, recording 15 points on 5-for-8 shooting with 16 rebounds, one assist, two steals and three blocks. The 23-year-old has been a big defensive presence all year for the Nets and he's also become a consistent scorer in recent weeks, even putting together a five-game run of 20-point games near the end of January. He is averaging 13.1 points for the whole campaign with 9.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks.

Tue Feb 7 202307:15Kyrie Irving Traded To Dallas - Fantasy Basketball Impact
Without a doubt, Kyrie Irving is arguably one of the most naturally gifted players in the National Basketball Association. He's a fantastic ball-handler and can get to the rim with ease. However, the former Duke Blue Devil's career has been surrounded by controversy, ultimately impacting his ability to win an MVP.The NBA trade deadline kicked off with a bang when Irving, who had demanded a trade out of Brooklyn, was traded to the Dallas Mavericks. NBA fans and fantasy managers are left wondering how things will play out.To keep close tabs on all of the news across the NBA, make sure to favorite or bookmark the RotoBaller Fantasy Basketball Newspage, or download the free RotoBaller fantasy basketball mobile app with push notification alerts on all the latest news.

Kyrie Irving's Season Recap

Irving got suspended for an antisemitic social media post, keeping him out of the lineup for eight games. But since then, the 30-year-old stayed out of the limelight, so most had assumed he finally turned things around. He's played well all season, averaging 27.1 points, 5.3 assists, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in 40 appearances.https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1622324668047794177?s=20&t=NTffJ2tRvNpjAA7bddjYHQHe was also selected to the All-Star team for the eighth time in his career. However, things were apparently going too well, as Irving dropped a bombshell by requesting a trade. His wish was granted, as he was sent to Dallas in exchange for ... [More]
Fri Dec 23 202222:34Nicolas Claxton Drops 19 Points On Milwaukee
Brooklyn Nets center Nicolas Claxton finished with 19 points on Friday in the win over Milwaukee. He also had eight boards, five assists, and three steals. Although the 23-year-old didn't have any blocks, he added another solid performance to his resume for the 2022-23 campaign. Claxton has averaged a career-high 11.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.3 swats while shooting an impressive 73.8% from the field this season, so he remains an everyday fantasy option in all formats. He'll look to keep it rolling in Cleveland on Monday night.

Sat Dec 10 202215:27Nicolas Claxton Will Miss Another Game
Brooklyn Nets center Nicolas Claxton (hamstring) won't play on Saturday in Indiana. The 23-year-old also sat out on Friday in the win over Atlanta, citing hamstring tightness as the culprit. Day'Ron Sharpe will likely fill the void in the starting lineup, especially with Ben Simmons (knee, calf), Royce O'Neal (personal), and T.J. Warren (foot) also out. While Sharpe isn't the most prolific scoring option, his ability on the glass and as a shot blocker shouldn't be ignored by category managers.

Tue Nov 15 202215:27Nicolas Claxton Will Suit Up On Tuesday
Brooklyn Nets center Nicolas Claxton (eye) was forced to exit his last game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday with an eye contusion. It seems as though he avoided any major concerns as he's now listed as available for the team's game on Tuesday night. Claxton should be back in his starting role and will have a battle on the boards against Domantas Sabonis. He should still be a good value play in all fantasy formats.

Mon Nov 14 202209:57Nicolas Claxton Sustains An Eye Injury Sunday
Brooklyn Nets center Nicolas Claxton was able to log just 16 minutes against the Lakers on Sunday, exiting the game in the third quarter with a left eye contusion. Before suffering the injury, he was having a nice performance with eight points on perfect 4-for-4 shooting and five rebounds. After the game, Claxton was quoted as saying that he expects to play Tuesday night versus Sacramento, so it looks like this isn't a serious injury and the 23-year-old won't be forced to miss any games. Claxton is enjoying a breakthrough campaign, putting up 11.9 points a night with 9.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks, whilst shooting an amazing 72.4 percent from the field. The Nets don't really have anyone to cover for Claxton, so they will be hoping that he is indeed fine for Tuesday's action and won't go down any time soon.

Thu Jun 30 202220:34Nicolas Claxton Returning To Brooklyn
Restricted free-agent forward/center Nicolas Claxton is returning to Brooklyn, agreeing to a two-year, $20 million contract. After Houston had expressed interest, the Nets will retain a player with a tremendous upside moving ahead. He finished the 2021-22 season by averaging 8.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks throughout 47 games, although he played a bit better during his 19 appearances in the starting lineup. Nevertheless, with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving potentially on their way out of Brooklyn, Claxton could see a noticeable bump in all fantasy categories this season. However, his free throw shooting needs to improve, and he also must figure out how to play through injuries, which have hindered his development over the years.

Sat Jun 18 202223:02Rockets May Target Nicolas Claxton
Upcoming restricted free agent forward/center Nicolas Claxton will be available over the summer. While Brooklyn would certainly love to keep him on the roster, the franchise may not be willing to match a full mid-level exception offer of $10.5 million. The Rockets have recently surfaced as a team looking to add another big man, especially one capable of supporting Alperen Sengun, so adding Claxton makes perfect sense. The 23-year-old averaged 8.7 points, 5.6 boards, and 1.1 blocks throughout 47 games in 2021-22. However, regardless of where he suits up this season, he isn't expected to be a consistent contributor, although he should have more than a few fantastic shows during the year.

Sun May 22 202220:02Nets Will Match Offers For Nicolas Claxton
Brooklyn Nets forward/center Nicolas Claxton is coming off the best season of his young career. He finished the 2021-22 campaign by averaging 8.7 points, 5.6 boards, and 1.1 blocks. Still, with free agency on the horizon, the 23-year-old could find himself on another team this upcoming season. However, the Nets appear determined to match any offers for Claxton, who is a restricted free agent. While the former Georgia Bulldog hasn't been the most consistent option for Brooklyn, the team is still looking to keep him moving ahead, especially considering how much he's developed playing alongside Kevin Durant. Nonetheless, Claxton could see a regular role in the starting lineup this season, but for fantasy managers to benefit, he'll need to stay healthy, which has been a problem.
