Diaw missed Thursday's game due to the illness, but he was able to return for Friday. Diaw is an inconsistent producer from night to night, but Friday's performance represents an average night for Diaw. He holds some value in a lot of formats because of his ability to pass as a big man.

Still, while Tony Parker (hamstring) is out Diaw will likely continue posting solid assist totals. After he tallied a season-high nine assists during the Spurs' 108-95 loss versus the Blazers on Monday while several Spurs sat to rest on the second night of a back-to-back, the Spurs and Blazers are slated for a rematch on Friday with the Spurs looking to avoid their first three-game losing streak of the season.

Diaw's upside is limited, as his minutes will be more erratic once Splitter returns. However, he is a player who can provide out of position numbers, thus making him an interesting option for those in need of short term help, or even in daily leagues. Splitter still remains without a timetable, so continue to monitor his status before rolling out with Diaw.

The Spurs' veteran stars will get games off throughout the regular season, which will lead to Diaw getting good run all year, even when they do play. He can help your fantasy team if you need help at the position. Just be aware that his upside is limited.

Diaw had been filling in for the injured Tiago Splitter (calf/back), but Matt Bonner will get the start instead. However, Diaw is averaging 30 minutes on the court and will likely still end up spending more time on the hardwood than Bonner, who is averaging 15 minutes, despite coming off the bench.

His fantasy value is worth monitoring, but you'll also need to keep an eye on the updates to see the severity of Splitter's injury.

The Spurs and Boris Diaw have agreed on a three-year, $22.5 million contract, with the third season partially guaranteed.

The 32-year-old forward just won his first NBA championship with San Antonio and there was never much doubt that he'd re-sign. He averaged 9.2 points, 0.8 threes, 4.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 26 minutes per game during the playoffs, all slightly above his regular-season averages. His production doesn't do fantasy owners much good in standard leagues, unfortunately, but he's tailor-made for the Spurs' selfless offense.

The Blazers will reportedly pursue unrestricted free agent Boris Diaw.

Diaw's French buddy Nic Batum could factor in here, and the Blazers could have certainly used him with little depth in their frontcourt this past year. Talks are likely in the exploratory stage.

Kawhi Leonard is eligible for an extension on July 1 and the most the Spurs could offer him would be a five-year, $79 million deal.

He made just $3.1 million last year and severely outplayed that contract on his way to the Finals MVP. Leonard is going to be a bigger part of the offense next season and the Spurs may want to give him his long-term deal now or else he'd become a restricted free agent in the summer of 2015.

Boris Diaw will play for France's national team during the FIBA World Cup this summer.

Diaw is coming off a long year of basketball, having won the 2013 EuroBasket competition last summer before a long march to the Finals with San Antonio. He said he'll take "a couple of days to relax" before getting back out on the court, and his excellent play this year should set him up for a nice payday as an unrestricted free agent.
