CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago forward Lauri Markkanen missed the Bulls' game Wednesday night against the Portland Trail Blazers after remaining overnight in Toronto because of what the team called "extreme fatigue."Markkanen was evaluated in the training room by the Bulls' medical staff and Toronto's team physician after exiting in the first half Tuesday night in a loss to the Raptors. He underwent more tests at a hospital following the game and remained in Toronto overnight.Coach Jim Boylen said Markkanen was in his office at 2 p.m. Wednesday after being examined in Chicago and wanted to play against Portland. Boylen would not say which tests Markkanen underwent."Lauri's tough," Boylen said. "He's a competitive guy."The 7-foot forward from Finland is averaging 18.7 points and 9.0 rebounds in his second season.Markkanen's injury is the latest in a long line for the Bulls this season. Leading scorer Zach LaVine (bruised right thigh, right knee tendinitis), Otto Porter Jr. (strained right rotator cuff) and Kris Dunn (back) were also unavailable on Wednesday. CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Bulls insist they remain committed to keeping coach Jim Boylen beyond this season and that he is delivering the way they anticipated despite their poor record.Executive vice president of basketball operations John Paxson said the Bulls "absolutely" plan to retain him. He said Boylen is "doing the right things" and is "promoting the right message to our players."The front office also took the blame Thursday for signing Jabari Parker last summer in a failed experiment. (AP) — Chicago center Robin Lopez was ejected after being hit with back-to-back technical fouls during the second quarter of the Bulls' game in Sacramento, tossing a chair once he finally left the court.Lopez exchanged words with referee Justin Van Duyne with 4:21 remaining before halftime Monday after getting called for fouling Willie Cauley-Stein. Lopez, who appeared to still be seething over not getting a call on the offensive end 30 seconds earlier, was quickly hit with the first technical as he walked toward midcourt.The 7-footer stormed back toward Van Duyne and had to be held back by teammates after being called for a second technical. CHICAGO (AP) — Jordan Bell has left Golden State's game against Chicago with a sprained left ankle.Bell got hurt when he challenged Robin Lopez's dunk on the Bulls' first possession. Bell stayed down for a while and then was helped to his feet. He tried to put pressure on his leg and grimaced before he opted for a wheelchair ride off the court.X-rays were negative, and the team announced Bell will have an MRI on Thursday.The NBA champion Warriors already were without Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala for Wednesday night's game. Green is dealing with right shoulder soreness, and Iguodala has a bruised left calf.The 23-year-old Bell was selected by the Bulls in the second round of the June draft and then dealt to the Warriors for financial considerations.
