Tue Feb 22 201122:03Weems scores 19 points in blowout loss
Sonny Weems scored 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting (including a three) with four rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 37 minutes on Tuesday.
One look at his game log will tell you that he can't be trusted yet in fantasy leagues, and we're advising owners in standard formats to take a wait-and-see approach here. Until he stops with the inconsistency, he belongs on waivers.
Wed Feb 9 201102:41Weems scores just four points in loss
Sonny Weems scored just four points on 2-of-10 shooting with five rebounds and two assists on Tuesday.
He has produced borderline value since returning to the starting lineup, and he cannot afford to have nights like this. Leandro Barbosa's return also cuts into his minutes a bit, so all in all there's not a ton to like with Weems right now.
Fri Feb 4 201123:05Weems scores 16 points on Friday vs. MIN
Sonny Weems scored 16 points on 8-of-14 shooting with three rebounds, three assists, and a steal on Friday.
He seemingly has the starting job locked up and following news that Linas Kleiza (knee) will miss the rest of the season, he's worth a look in standard leagues. However, with Leandro Barbosa coming back soon and Weems still yet to show anything but middling production, he is nowhere near a must-add.
Sat Jan 29 201123:50Weems ho-hum in start at small forward
Sonny Weems returned to the starting lineup at small forward in Saturday's loss, scoring seven points on 3-of-8 shooting with six rebounds, one assist, and no steals or blocks in 28 minutes.
At this point we would advise owners not to pick him up in standard leagues, since it's not clear if his ailing back can handle heavy minutes and whenever Linas Kleiza and Leandro Barbosa return he will be in a crowded situation. If he's not posting numbers now, he won't do it when they return.
Sat Jan 29 201119:09Sonny Weems to start at SF on Saturday
Raptors swingman Sonny Weems will start Saturday's game at SF, alongside Jose Calderon, DeMar DeRozan, Andrea Bargnani, and Amir Johnson.
Weems is benefitting from the absence of both Leandro Barbosa and typical starter Linas Kleiza. Keep an eye on him, as he was solid early in the season, but don't cut someone valuable for him.
Wed Jan 26 201118:24Weems set to play on Wednesday
Sonny Weems (back) will be active for Wednesday's game.
Weems has fallen far off the fantasy radar, and even if he does get off the bench on Wednesday he's not likely to get enough minutes to make an impact.

Wed Jan 26 201112:56Weems, Dorsey are game-time decisions
Sonny Weems (back) and Joey Dorsey (knee) are game-time decisions for Wednesday's game against the Raptors.
Weems may try to gut it out just so the Raptors have enough healthy bodies to field a real team, but he's nowhere near ready.

Tue Jan 25 201100:06Weems (back) gets back on the court Monday
Sonny Weems (back), who has been cleared to play for a while, finally got back on the court in Monday's game, playing eight minutes with just two missed shots and a turnover to show for his effort.
He has fallen off the fantasy radar and will need some help to get back on it. A return to meaningful minutes for Weems could complicate an already complicated wing situation in Toronto.
Mon Jan 24 201119:14Sonny Weems active for Raptors on Monday
Sonny Weems (back) is in uniform for the Raptors on Monday, though whether he'll play is another matter.
The Raptors are down to nine healthy bodies (including Weems) and may have suited him up only for emergencies. Even if he is healthy enough to play, he's a long way from maintaining fantasy value.
Mon Jan 24 201113:15Sonny Weems (back) still, umm, day-to-day
Sonny Weems (back) is still out for the Raptors.
Weems has apparently been day-to-day for over a month, so we'll just call him "out indefinitely" until further notice. He hasn't been traveling with the team or practicing so his return is not imminent.

Sat Jan 22 201112:11Sonny Weems still out w/ back spasms
Sonny Weems (back) remains sidelined for the Raptors.
He's been out since the middle of December and isn't even traveling with the team, and there is no indication that he'll play in Monday's home game vs. Memphis. Even when he gets back, he'll have to claw his way into the crowded wing rotation.
Sat Jan 15 201111:35Weems isn't traveling w/ Raptors
Sonny Weems (back) did not travel with the Raptors to Washington for Saturday's game.
Toronto is headed on a five-game road trip -- it's unclear whether Weems might join them at some point, but we're not counting on it. His back injury has turned into a month-long ordeal and he might have a minimal role in the rotation whenever he gets healthy.

Fri Jan 14 201112:38Weems out again Friday
Sonny Weems (back) will not play against the Pistons Friday.
Weems dressed Wednesday but did not get in the game. It appears he is not yet ready and the Raptors certainly won't rush him. They have too many wings anyway, leaving Weems out of the rotation.

Thu Jan 13 201112:13Weems dressed but did not play
Sonny Weems (back) dressed but did not play in Wednesday's loss to the Hawks.
As suspected, Weems has a long way to go to get back in the rotation. He is no threat to DeMar DeRozan or Linas Kleiza right now.

Wed Jan 12 201118:32Weems set to return on Wednesday
Sonny Weems (back) will be active for Wednesday's game.
Weems has missed 11 games and based on a previous Toronto Star report will have a hard time reestablishing himself in the rotation. He belongs on waivers in standard-sized leagues for now.

Wed Jan 12 201111:39Weems may not even be in rotation
Coach Jay Triano confirmed that Sonny Weems (back) is going to have a hard time getting back in the rotation.
Weems started 18 straight games before injuring his back. Now, he's been Wally Pipped. DeMar DeRozan is proving he deserves huge minutes, Linas Kleiza is locked in and Leandro Barbosa is coming around. We wouldn't expect Weems' impending return to alter this rotation significantly.

Tue Jan 11 201116:59Weems (back) hopes to play Wednesday
Sonny Weems (back) participated in practice on Tuesday, and said he hopes to play on Wednesday against the Hawks.
He looked doubtful just a few days ago, and the wise thing to do here is take the report with a grain of salt. He has been out for three weeks and isn't going to burn up the charts, regardless, and once he steps foot on the court then Linas Kleiza's owners can start to worry.

Mon Jan 10 201122:02Weems' back locks up on Saturday
Sonny Weems' back locked up during Saturday's practice and he is looking doubtful for Wednesday's game against the Hawks.
Nobody has any real answers in regards to his back, and he has a ways to go before he'll be logging significant minutes on the court. If he can return to practice, he will still need to get into game-shape after a missing three weeks of action.

Sun Jan 9 201112:08Weems still out for Raptors
Sonny Weems (back) will not play in Sunday's game against the Kings.
Weems target date is getting pushed back once again. He remains day-to-day, but we're not expecting him to get back his starting job anytime soon.

Tue Jan 4 201109:47Weems out until Sunday
Sonny Weems (back) won't play until Sunday at the earliest.
Weems has already missed seven straight games with this ailment and will miss at least three more. He's looking at nearly a month off and his conditioning will need to be ramped back up. Considering how well Linas Kleiza and DeMar DeRozan are playing, Weems is will return to an uncertain role.
