Muhammad was listed as doubtful to play heading into Friday, so the decision to keep him out another game doesn't qualify as a major surprise. On a positive note, Muhammad did report progress with his injury earlier this week, and does appear to be on track for a return prior to the All-Star break. With the T-Wolves clearly not contending this season, expect the Muhammad to receive plenty of run once healthy, as the team looks to discern whether or not the second-year forward can become a viable long-term member of their corps. He was seemingly making good on his promise when healthy in December, averaging 18.1 points and 5.3 boards while shooting 49.5 percent from the field during the month.

With Minnesota's next three tilts taking place Wednesday against the Heat, Friday versus the Grizzlies, and Sunday in Detroit, he should be able to get a few contests under his belt before the All-Star break.

Muhammad has reported progress with his oblique injury and feels he could return shortly. "It's feeling a lot better," he told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "Hopefully I'll be ready to play in a couple games. We worked on a lot of core stuff. And a lot of quick-moving stuff."

Muhammad could return before the All-Star break, but it would seem more likely the T-Wolves give him some extra time with little incentive to be aggressive on his return.

While an official diagnosis is yet to come down, Saunders has effectively ruled him out for the next couple of weeks. It's a tough break for a player who's enjoying a breakout second NBA season, averaging 13.7 points and 4.0 rebounds after playing in just 35 games as a rookie. The Wolves did receive some positive news Monday, however, as Kevin Martin, Nikola Pekovic and Ricky Rubio (partial participant) returned to practice.

This was to be expected as Muhammad was listed as doubtful earlier Saturday. Chase Budinger will move into the starting lineup as a result, and Muhammad won't be able to take the court until Tuesday against the Pacers at the earliest.

In Muhammad's 10 previous games, he averaged over 33 points per game, so the dip in minutes does seems strange. On Jan. 3, Muhammad also only played 21 minutes, but had games of 37 and 33 minutes in between. Muhammad is still the No. 2 offensive option for the Timberwolves, so he's worth using in most leagues, and it'll likely stay that way even when Ricky Rubio returns.

Muhammad scored 19 points with six rebounds in 37 minutes in Monday's loss to Denver.

Since moving into the starting lineup nine games ago, Muhammad is averaging 17.8 ppg and 3.4 rpg. He'll likely remain a top option on the offense even when Ricky Rubio and Nikola Pekovic return from injuries.

Muhammad scored 30 points with seven rebounds in 38 minutes in Tuesday's loss to the Jazz. He was 5-of-6 from three-point range.

Muhammad bounced back from scoring just nine points in Saturday's loss to Golden State. Muhammad made a season-high five three pointers as he's improved his shot from long range (40 percent on three pointers before Tuesday). Muhammad's game continues to improve and he could be the team's leading scorer most nights the rest of the season.

Muhammad led the Timberwolves in minutes played Sunday in a loss to the Pacers, and scored 21 points (8-18 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 5-6 FT).

Muhammad now seems to be an every-day starter for the Timberwolves, especially with Corey Brewer, who was traded to the Rockets, gone. Muhammad could be worth a pickup, considering he's been taking the most shots for the Timberwolves. He's scored 21 or more points in each of his past four games, and is averaging 18 points per game this month on 52.7 percent shooting.

Muhammad started at shooting guard and provided a team-high 26 points (11-15 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, and five assists in 38 minutes in the loss to the Celtics on Friday.

Muhammad has become a consistent scorer for the injury-laden Timberwolves. He has averaged 23.3 points in his last four games and has hit 58.5 percent of his field goals over that span.

Muhammad will start at shooting guard Friday against the Celtics.

Muhammad will take the place of Ronnie Brewer in the starting lineup, who is part of a trade that will send him to the Rockets. He is averaging 12.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 19 minutes this season. Muhammad's value should increase moving forward following the trade.

Head coach Flip Saunders noted recently that he is considering benching Corey Brewer in favor of Muhammad to give the team another scoring option to start the game. Muhammad has already been averaging nearly 25 minutes per game over the month of December, so a move to the starting role would not necessarily lead to significantly more playing time. What this move could indicate is a preference of Muhammad over Brewer, which could result in Brewer being traded away, which would increase Muhammad fantasy value significantly.

Muhammad continued his hot streak Sunday against the Lakers, posting 28 points (12-21 FG, 4-7 FT) to go with nine rebounds and one assist in 27 minutes of action.

Muhammad has been playing well recently, averaging 18.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists over the last five games. Still, he isn't a great fantasy option because of his lack of contribution in other categories. During that span, he's averaging just 0.8 steals and 0.2 three-pointers made.

Muhammad (ankle) didn't seem to be limited Friday in a loss to the Thunder, scoring 18 points (6-13 FG, 6-8 FT).

Despite dealing with sore ankles the past few games, Muhammad is averaging 16.3 points and 3.8 rebounds in the past seven days. Muhammad doesn't do much else besides score, but his role could be expanded given his recent success, as long as his ankles don't continue to be a problem.
