Karasev is dealing with an illness and will be a game-time decision for Friday's contest against the Wizards, the New York Post reports.
Karasev missed Friday's morning shootaround and is in doubt against the Wizards. If he's unable to play, his next opportunity to get on the court will be Saturday when the Nets face the Wizards for the back end of their home-and-home series.
Sun Jan 11 201500:11Karasev demoted to reserve role after starting previous 16 games
Karasev was demoted to a reserve role after starting the previous 16 games. He was limited to two points (1-2 FG) in 11 minutes.
Karasev was replaced by Bogan Bogdanovic following a loss to the Sixers in which he played 12 minutes. His fantasy value was limited as a starter, so a shift to the bench removes him from standard league relevance.

Karasev (oblique) returned from a one-game absence with 12 points (5-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt) with four rebounds and two assists in 37 minutes in the loss to the Cavaliers on Friday.
Karasev got a start with Deron Williams (calf) out. He had his third double digit scoring game in the last five. Karasev might have had something a little extra for the team that drafted him, but is only a viable player in deep fantasy leagues.
Fri Dec 19 201418:31Sergey Karasev: (Oblique) Will Play Friday
Karasev (oblique) will play Friday against the Calaliers, ESPN New York reports.
Karasev was considered questionable due to an oblique injury, but will return to the lineup Friday against the Cavaliers. He is averaging 4.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 13 minutes for the Nets this season.

Karasev (oblique) is considered questionable to play Friday against the Cavaliers, Mike Mazzeo of ESPN reports.
Karasev continues to nurse an oblique injury, and a final call likely won't be made until after shootaround Friday. If he's cleared to play, Karasev will likely return to the starting lineup.
Wed Dec 17 201412:20Karasev (oblique) ruled out for Wednesday's game against Raptors
Karasev (oblique) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Raptors, Mike Mazzeo of ESPN reports.
Karasev left Tuesday's loss to Miami in the second half with soreness in his left side, and the team's medical staff has now diagnosed him with a strained oblique. The second-year guard has played his way into favor with coach Lionel Hollins, drawing starts in each of the last four games. With that streak coming to an end Wednesday, Alan Anderson or Bojan Bogdanovic figure to fill in at shooting guard. Bogdanovic has started 19 games this season, though Hollins said Tuesday that the rookie was "treading water" as a starter, which is why he made the move to insert Karasev.
Wed Dec 17 201408:30Karasev has 50-50 chance to play against Raptors Wednesday night
Karasev has a 50-50 chance to play against the Raptors Wednesday night, Rod Boone of Newsday reports.
Karasev injured his side Tuesday and left the game early. Boone also reports that Karasev wasn't sure when exactly the injury occurred. If he's healthy, Karasev could get the start, as he's started the past two games he's been available for.
Tue Dec 16 201422:09Karasev has sore left side and will not return Tuesday
Karasev has a sore left side and will not return Tuesday, Newsday's Rod Boone reports.
He got the start and had 11 points with three boards and three assists in 22 minutes before leaving. While Karasev has been steadily seeing 20-plus minutes again lately, he is still just an option for deeper leagues. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Karasev made his second-straight start Friday against the Sixers and ultimately finished the game with 11 points, two rebounds, and two steals in 28 minutes.
Karasev hasn't had much success during his two starts for coach Lionel Hollins and it would be somewhat surprising if Hollins left him in the starting lineup much longer. If he's relegated to a role off the bench, it would seem natural for the 20-year-old to slot back down to the 10.4 minutes per game that he's averaging this season.
Fri Dec 12 201418:12Karasev will start for second-straight game Friday
Karasev will start for the second-straight game Friday, Chris Carrino of Compass Media Networks reports.
Karasex was able to play 31 minutes in his first-career start Wednesday against the Bulls and should be expected to play around that total once again Friday.

Karasev started at small forward Wednesday and recorded six points, six rebounds, one assist, and one steal during his 31 minutes on the court against the Bulls.
Normal starters Mirza Teletovic (hip) and Brook Lopez (back) were sidelined Wednesday and coach Lionel Hollins decided to switch things up even further by replacing Bojan Bogdanovic with Karasev. Considering that Karasev is only averaging 8.3 minutes on the court this season, it would be somewhat surprising if he continued to replace Bogdanovic in the starting lineup.
Wed Dec 10 201418:55Karasev will start Wednesday
Karasev will start Wednesday, the New York Post's Tim Bontemps reports.
It's a somewhat surprising move, as he replaces Bojan Bogdanovic on the wing. Karasev has been a healthy scratch in three of the Nets' last four games, so don't look for him to see a full compliment of starter's minutes Wednesday.
Sat Nov 22 201409:35Karasev has played in just four games for Nets this season
Karasev has played in just four games for the Nets this season.
Karasev is one the last options off the bench for coach Lionel Hollins this season. In fact, he's often one of the healthy inactives that Brooklyn designates on any given night. Because of this, Karasev will be limited this season unless things drastically change in favor of the 21-year-old.

Karasev (foot) scored nine points (2-5 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT) to go with four rebounds in 21 minutes during Wednesday's preseason game versus the Kings.
Karasev was slowed by a foot ailment to begin training camp, but has since appeared in all three of Brooklyn's preseason outings to date. After playing just 10 minutes over the Nets' first two contests, the 20-year-old more than doubled his previous playing time Wednesday, eliminating questions about his health.
Thu Oct 2 201412:40Karasev (foot) sat out Thursday's practice with sore foot
Karasev (foot) sat out Thursday's practice with a sore foot, the New York Post's Tim Bontemps reports.
Initially expected to practice Thursday, Karasev was on the sidelines for the second straight day as he continues to nurse a minor foot injury. He'll likely be back in the mix within the next few days, but at this point he seems destined for a deep bench role and could again spend time in the D-League.

Karasev did not participate in Wednesday's practice due to a sore foot, Newsday reports.
Karasev was traded to Brooklyn this summer and should be eager to integrate himself with new teammates moving forward. While a foot ailment prevented the 20-year-old from doing so Wednesday, Karasev isn't expected to miss much time because of his soreness. Nonetheless, given his inexperience, the Russian also isn't anticipated to have a prominent role on the Nets this season and will likely spend time in the D-League to advance his skill set.
Sun Jul 27 201410:36Sergey Karasev happy to be in Brooklyn
Sergey Karasev is happy that he was traded to the Nets.
"I want to prove to everyone that I just don't happen to be in the league," said Karasev, who spent most of last season in the D-League. "I loved Cleveland, but the move to Brooklyn, I believe, is a positive step. Andrei Kirilenko plays there. There's Mikhail Prokhorov and a lot of Russians. I'm sure I will be comfortable." Karasev will still likely be buried on the bench in Brooklyn, and he's not currently on the fantasy radar in standard leagues.

Wed Jul 9 201410:56Sergey Karasev traded to Nets on Wednesday
The Cavaliers traded G/F Sergey Karasev to the Nets in a cap-clearing move on Wednesday.
Karasev's inclusion was more about the math than on-court production, and the 6'7" swingman isn't likely to play more than a bit role under coach Lionel Hollins. After being drafted No. 19 overall in 2013, Karasev averaged only 1.7 points on 34.3 percent shooting a rookie -- lucky for him, Anthony Bennett's spectacular failure deflected most of the criticism away from Karasev.

Sergey Karasev is available in a trade to clear cap space.
He's not going to fetch anything noteworthy and it's all just an attempt clear enough cap space to bring in LeBron James on a max deal. Karasev was a first-round pick last year and finished with averages of 1.7 points, 0.7 boards and 0.3 assists in just 7.1 minutes per game.
